One of the things that is not taken into consideration is the time to do what needs to be done.. I may sound like a broken record.. But, there are just so many hours in a day.. The Church.. tends to govern your time.. In that not only are hours spent preparing for.. driveing to and from.. But, the preparation of.. clean cloths ..meals. bathing etc.. also take time.. And that is stretched if you have ..children.. Some of which have home work.. SO! often the Husband and wife time is not only few and far between.. but. the time that you do have ..is cluttered by the fact that the rest of your life is hetic..so relaxing.enough to carry on a conversation..in a peaceful manner is next to improbable..
I know..not every one travels great distances to work or to meetings. But the fact is ..for those that do.. more time is involved..
I read where brothers in other lands travel great distances by foot ..barefoot ..through swamps...And I think.. God. did not tell us that we needed to do this..MAN..did.. Where 2 or more are gathered in my name..there I will be.. Patting some one on the back and bragging that that is a sign of their spirituality ..does not make it so..
What it is a sign of ..is that they listen to men.. The hours in a day.. are alloted to us.. In ALL you do..do so ..to bring glory to GOD.. means.. HELLO! if there is a need to spend some (Personal time) then you are to buy it out.. If that means that ..gasp.. a meeting is missed ... Well.. so be it.. You made a vow..before GOD.. in the marriage.. So.. seeing that it is in good shape...is a part of your service to him.. It generally isn't a case of having to listen to Older men tell you what you can read for yourself.. It's a case of having some private time.. unencumbered by the things ..others ..deem necessary..

Are you going to get married first then get baptised or baptised then get married?

My wife and I have been married for 10 years and this has always been recently puzzling to me. Jesus said that there is no such thing as marriage in heaven, so both my wife and I are not planning to renew our vows once we get there but we do plan on doing our utmost to stay together if our assignments allow for it. She wants to get into botany and I might continue in technology so we might end up quite a distance away who knows.

But even though there is no such institution in heaven its interesting to note that in heaven almost everything comes in pairs including the angels positive/negative.

Adam and Eve were companions but it was human beings that surmised that their being together constituted a "marriage". They were a couple for sure but this idea of marriage came much later on in others teachings and evolved over hundreds of years to become what it is today.

If you believe in heaven then you believe that the marriage institution is only an earthly contract and has no bearing on what happens afterwards.

So why all the fuss on keeping people together if they are clearly not compatible?

You think wtb&ts' pseudo-christian publications don't have a religious agenda?

You get paid for linking to the wtb&ts' website don't you?

"In the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage." (Matthew 22:30) Taken out of context, this passage does seem to say that there is no marriage after death.

Very often, however, a careful examination of the context will completely change the meaning of a passage.

Please note that marrying and being given in marriage do not refer to the married state, but only to the wedding itself.

Revelation 19:7
Let us rejoice and shout for joy [exulting and triumphant]! Let us celebrate and ascribe to Him glory and honor, for the marriage of the Lamb [at last] has come, and His bride has prepared herself.

Revelation 19:9
Then [the angel] said to me, Write this down: Blessed (happy, to be envied) are those who are summoned (invited, called) to the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he said to me [further], These are the true words (the genuine and exact declarations) of God.

Wow just when you think you couldn't tread on a Biblical doctrine's proof text you always seem to get another interpretation of it.

Firstly I'm well aware of how many different interpretations you can get when "closely examining" a scripture. Seems everyone here gets a different one all in themselves.

But for the sake of amusing myself lets take a look at the whole reply:

“At the resurrection people will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven”

What do you think Jesus meant when he said "like the angels in heaven"?

If this is not symbolic language then there's polygamy in heaven. I don't think I need to go any further but somehow I get the feeling that my next post will have to be more comprehensive..

I hate to make an issue out of this simple reality and I pick my quarrels with different viewpoints. This doesn't really deserve too much attention but lets see where it goes.

I don't know. I don't even concern myself with this. Sure people can speculate.

No one will honestly know until they go to Heaven.

But, according to scripture, I don't believe that marriage will not exist in Heaven, only weddings.

According to the scripture that you "don't even concern yourself with"?

Are you concerned about what we know, or what we don't know?

Perhaps you just want to argue? Go ahead and start without me.

Do you really make the truth your own, or make the speculation your own?
