They started out here talking all about what they were going to eat and who was coming and how much they were going to do for themselves until I posted that that was all they talked about, and then they started throwing in some God stuff. And maybe some of them did pray this time after they were called out about it here.

But, in the end, they did what they wanted to do for themselves, fed themselves, pleased themselves, gained a few pounds, and as an afterthought, tried to make it look like it was something for God. God didn't give the possessions of the native people to invaders, and he has nothing to do with the United States holiday Thanksgiving.

Its because the GB tells them these things to make all Christians look bad. As we dont know what happens in their homes, they have no idea what happens in ours.
Exactly.

Their adored but lying and evil GB filters all SORTS of toxic garbage to them and proudly call it "spiritual food".

We ALWAYS have a prayer said at family gatherings and hubby asked one of our boys to say it yesterday and he politely declined and said although he had MUCH to be thankful FOR (which he did :o) that as the oldest member of the family (here in NY state) he would ask if I would "do the honors" as he put it....so I did, without a moment of hesitation.

What the WTS defenders here cannot possibly see or have ANY knowledge of....is that I became accustomed to praying a lot as a jw...and LEAVING the cult....that practice didn't change an iota....but NOW the things I pray FOR...and the things I pray ABOUT....are quite different, more down to earth and more sincere and hands on in nature.

I couldn't sit here and postulate (as EE and Yuni enjoy doing) and say that ALL former jws still pray before eating....because I have absolutely no way of knowing this....JUST as EE and Yuni have NO WAY of knowing who DOESN'T pray.

I have been away from the computer today and have no idea what ELSE has been spouted by these two (& company)....but the more they blab away....the more ridiculous they look....ESPECIALLY those who DO pray and who DO take their spirituality very seriously. We have to pity those entrapped by WTS-think....and who don't have one viable brain to use between them....even on their BEST day.

Most people who celebrate thanksgiving are not christians, haven't been to a church in years, if ever, but they will celebrate the holiday. Why place a religious label on it when it didn't start that way?

dear jesus, i am so thankful for the jws that show up here and post, like ee2 and simply intrigued and tpmp and fh chandler and the rest of the gang.

we couldn't make this stuff up..... they are doing a better job of exposing the corrupt mean disgusting jw mindset then we ever could.

its like listening in on the pharisees, right before they handed jesus over to death.

Even with your TERRIBLY inadequate excuse for a brain....you SHOULD be able to figure out what I said....a family member called the market and ordered the specific turkey we wanted, the kind, the weight and whether it was fresh or frozen, etc.

The man in the meat dept put our name on it so when we went in to pick it up....it would go to the right family. I said that it "had our name on it" as a joke....but seeing as how you are lacking ANYTHING resembling a sense of humor or ANY human warmth in your heart....I can now understand WHY this simple fact flew straight over your head.

You have NEVER held back on bashing and trashing ME....so why do you PRETEND to be so highly incensed when I do the same back to you?

Are you ALSO delusional in your thinking that you are an "exceptional poster" and sailing here under your OWN set of rules? Well...AWAKE UP!...You just AREN'T. I feel you are one sad and very miserable person....and I truly DO pity you, EE.

‪ Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
‪ The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
‪ The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
‪ The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
‪ The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
‪ The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
‪ The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
‪ Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
‪ The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
‪ The group is preoccupied with making money.
‪ Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
‪ Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
‪ The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

She seems to be having a lot of trouble lately with comprehension. Since Alzheimer's does tend to run in families, it's quite possible that she is in the first stages of the disease. Then, too, don't many patients tend to get aggressive and verbally abusive at some point?

Everybody who read your post knew that a specific turkey was being reserved for you, and that it would, of necessity, have your name on it so that they would know which turkey had been purchased for you when you went to pick it up.

It's not really that difficult to understand, but EE just couldn't seem to wrap her brain around that concept. She really should be pitied. She seems to be going down rather quickly mentally.

I think, though, that the distinguishing factor that pushes religions into cult territory is the control they exert over their members.

Honestly... couldn't SEE where she would come up with that one...and post it with a straight face! She HAS to have some form of mental deficiencies creeping in....she seldom makes sense any more...and goes way out of her way to make personal jibes at me and others (you, LOL!)

Sheesh...I don't mind a discussion on why so many of us feel the WTS is NOT "the truth" but this constant bickering over giving thanks to the Creator on a certain day, or whether or not people were instructed to use the name jehovah when praying, etc, etc, etc....IS the foundation on which their wicked organization is based on.....and NOT on demonstrating how jws or phony jws are anywhere near exhibiting the idea that GOD IS LOVE. As we can see here...by their own posts...that their "god" is hate.

well that was they type of people you were hanging around with. Why even in the congregation we are told to mark those that are not of good conduct, except the pedophiles not sure who they are they can come across so nice and go out witnessing like they are approved and no one knows the wiser, and they wouldn't dare have a thanksgiving dinner they may get DF for that.

I completely agree!

I find religion is like governments.. They're there to keep order..

But when religion (JW, RC, Protestant, ect...) starts telling their members how to think religion becomes a issue..
