‪ The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.
‪ Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.
‪ Mind-altering practices (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, and debilitating work routines) are used in excess and serve to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).
‪ The leadership dictates, sometimes in great detail, how members should think, act, and feel (for example, members must get permission to date, change jobs, marry—or leaders prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, whether or not to have children, how to discipline children, and so forth).
‪ The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s) and members (for example, the leader is considered the Messiah, a special being, an avatar—or the group and/or the leader is on a special mission to save humanity).
‪ The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which may cause conflict with the wider society.
‪ The leader is not accountable to any authorities (unlike, for example, teachers, military commanders or ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream religious denominations).
‪ The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify whatever means it deems necessary. This may result in members' participating in behaviors or activities they would have considered reprehensible or unethical before joining the group (for example, lying to family or friends, or collecting money for bogus charities).
‪ The leadership induces feelings of shame and/or guilt iin order to influence and/or control members. Often, this is done through peer pressure and subtle forms of persuasion.
‪ Subservience to the leader or group requires members to cut ties with family and friends, and radically alter the personal goals and activities they had before joining the group.
‪ The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.
‪ The group is preoccupied with making money.
‪ Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group and group-related activities.
‪ Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.
‪ The most loyal members (the “true believers”) feel there can be no life outside the context of the group. They believe there is no other way to be, and often fear reprisals to themselves or others if they leave (or even consider leaving) the group.

here is a simplified cult statement version

1... we are appointed by god to rule over you
2... jesus arrived invisiby, on the dates that we claim, and only we were wise enough to notice it.
3... even though we change those dates as they wear out, doesn't mean that they were wrong, and we were wrong about the dates, and were not wise enough to tell.
4....everyone who disagrees with us is an APOSTATE, since the dates that we invented and keep changing APPOINTED US TO RULE.
5... you may not disagree with us...... god appointed us to rule because of the dates.
6... we are now allowed and appointed to be your mediator between you and god, and you must go through us
7....

... a cult will try to capture you, called ones
matt 24;24....!!!... yup its true

he-she will claim to be the appointed representative of god, by the invention of the dates that they put forth by easy math numerolgy, that you must accept

he will then start ruling over your spirituality, and take control of your decision making toward the holy spirit

Leviticus 23:4-6, 16, 24, 27, 34-36
"'These are the feasts of the Lord, holy convocations which you shall proclaim at their appointed times.
"'On the fourteenth day of the first month at twilight is the Lord's Passover.
"'And on the fifteenth day of the same month is the Feast of Unleavened Bread to the Lord; seven days you must eat unleavened bread...
"Count fifty days to the day after the seventh Sabbath; then you shall offer a new grain offering to the Lord...
"Speak to the children of Israel, saying:'In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have a sabbath-rest, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation...
"Also the tenth day of this seventh month shall be the Day of Atonement. It shall be a holy convocation for you; you shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire to the Lord...
"Speak to the children of Israel, saying:'The fifteenth day of this seventh month shall be the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to the Lord.
"'On the first day there shall be a holy convocation. You shall do no customary work on it.
"'For seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. On the eighth day you shall have a holy convocation, and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the Lord. It is a sacred assembly, and you shall do no customary work on it.'"

The seven festivals occur during three harvest seasons in the Holy Land. Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread occur at the beginning of the barley harvest in the spring. The Feast of Weeks, or Pentecost, occurs at the end of the barley and wheat harvests. The last four festivals are all in the late summer and autumn harvest season. These are known as the Feast of Trumpets, Day of Atonement, Feast of Tabernacles and Eighth Day (which we often refer to as the Last Great Day).

While these harvest festivals were given to the nation of Israel at that time, note that God calls them "feasts of the Lord" and "My feasts" (Leviticus 23:2).
Thanksgiving Day is different from the thanks that we give to God each day in our prayers. It is different in this way: It is a giving of thanks especially for the year's harvest. Thanksgiving Day is also called a Harvest Festival and Festival of Harvest. God commanded such a Thanksgiving and Harvest Festival to be observed by his Jewish people each year during the Old Testament time of history. It was called Pentecost. In Exodus 23:16 the Pentecost Thanksgiving Festival was called "the Feast of Harvest." The verse reads: "You shall also observe the Feast of the Harvest, the firstfruits of your labors that you sow in the field." The Pentecost Thanksgiving Feast of Harvest, was also called the "Feast of Weeks" in Exodus 34:22, which states: "And you shall observe the Feast of Weeks – the firstfruits of the wheat harvest ..." It was called the Feast of Weeks because seven weeks were counted for the harvest season from its beginning to its end, which then ended with the Pentecost Thanksgiving Feast of Weeks’ giving of thanks for the completion of the harvest. It is clear, then, that already in the ancient past God commanded his Old Testament Jewish people to observe a Thanksgiving celebration each year.
We are to always give thanks to God for all things Thanksgiving is a day of thanks .

If you hear someone start a sentence with, "My pastor says...." you know they are in a cult and are following a man, not Jesus.

THANKSGIVING WAS CELEBRATED "before" IT BECAME A NATIONAL HOLIDAY .
Harvest festivals of thanksgiving were celebrated and thanks given to God for the food .God is never offended when we give thanks be it daily on our own or nationally as a people .

People are so stupid. Let's look at the first one: The group displays excessively zealous and unquestioning commitment to its leader and (whether he is alive or dead) regards his belief system, ideology, and practices as the Truth, as law.

That's Jesus Christ you idiot. All Christians should feel excessively zealous and have unquestioning commitment to Jesus, so by the first point every true Christian is a cult member.
