Why do Jehovha's witnesses don't prophesy or speak in tongues?
I WONDER WHY JEHOVHA'S WITNESS MEMBERS DON'T SHOW THE MANIFESTATIONS OF THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT WRITTEN BY PAUL IN HIS FIRST LETTER TO THE CORINTHIANS.
I wonder why they don't minister prophetically or why they don't have healing and deliverance sessions like what Christ Jesus did his whole life. Why ?

Show me true Christians who raise the dead and speak in tongues properly and I will leave the JW's today.

I personally speak in tongues and i'm praying that i may interpret.Yes some true ministers raise the dead.I have seen real demons manifesting. Its really bad.Satan don't love us.But why do you leave other important matters like healings, miracles. You know some people are not convinced by mere talks, that why demonstration of power is needed.Demons should be cast out, the sick healed, the captive freed and the blind should receive sight.I know they are also false prophets, but the Apostles did many miraculous activities after Christ went to heaven. It is not written that these manifestations will stop.People are full of pride these years that the problem with a lot of religious fellows,

"...whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease..." (1 Cor 13:8)

The Bible does indicate how long the gifts of the spirit would be a part of the Christian experience.

According to the record, these gifts were always conveyed to persons by the laying on of the hands of the apostles of Jesus Christ or in their presence.

Thus, after their death and when the individuals who in that way had received the gifts died, the miraculous gifts resulting from the operation of God's spirit must have come to their end.

You are just assuming that they ended. The gifts didn't end man!
Where is your faith in the Almighty God?
Jesus Christ said if you ask anything in my name and don't doubt, you shall receive it.
God is able to give his people supernatural gifts.
Christians of today are lukewarm. There are so weak and ineffective.

"Many will say to me in that day,'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?'
And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." Matthew (7:22, 23)

We see this...which appears to be quite definitive:

"...whether there are [gifts of] prophesying, they will be done away with; whether there are tongues, they will cease..." (1 Cor 13:8)

And then this view is shown:

"You are just assuming that they ended. The gifts didn't end man!
Where is your faith in the Almighty God?
Jesus Christ said if you ask anything in my name and don't doubt, you shall receive it.
God is able to give his people supernatural gifts.
Christians of today are lukewarm. There are so weak and ineffective."

Would we be expected to have faith or put our faith in a practice that was said to be "ceased"? Exactly how does this work?

This last scripture does seem to sum it up though..."Many will say to me in that day,'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?'
And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew you! Get away from me, you workers of lawlessness." Matthew (7:22, 23)

Here again...we see yet another argument that is very strongly held for both sides of an issue....both posters are sincere in their beliefs and yet only one can be right. I guess what I am trying to say is that the more these ideas---one way or the other---and get dissected as they do....

it causes my heart to draw even closer to only trying to live and abide by the what Jesus himself said...."The entire law is summed up in a single command: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Galatians 5:14

I mean no disrespect...but I feel that getting all tied up with and fretting about all these things that we can never truly prove to the other's satisfaction...seems to me are only derailing and sidetracking our faith while keeping us from fully applying the instruction to love our neighbors as ourselves.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not invite demons into their gatherings the way the churches of Christendom do.

The manifestations of people gibbering incoherently, falling over and shaking uncontrollably are all demonic possession. They are nothing like the gifts of the spirit spoken of in the Bible.

Those gifts have passed away, just like the Bible said they would.

Notice how they take specified gifts of the spirit..that are to be done away with..then make the ASSUMPTION thats ALL THE GIFTS OF THE SPIRIT...are done away with...it never says "All the gifts of the spirit are done away with...not written anywhere,

Nowhere does it say gifts of healing will be done away with...They can't find that..

because they lock up the Kingdom of God before men..they don't have the SPIRIT of God..because the gifts of the spirit , scripture tells us is, given to EACH ONE for ministering to others..

They have been taught the gifts of the spirit are not to be sought

In direct contradiction of scripture that tells us ' To pursue LOVE , YET zealously keep seeking the spiritual gifts"

Show me the Christian man like Peter who heals cripples with the passing of his shadow. There will be a true gift of the spirit, rather than the demonic fakes we see today in the churches of Christendom.

No one has seen such a thing since the Apostles died. Those true gifts have passed away. Love alone remains:

*** 1 Cor 13:8 Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will be done away with. Where there are various languages, they will cease. Where there is knowledge, it will be done away with.

Gifts have never been 'done away with'

The reason you haven't seen the gifts , is because none are SEEKING THEM

Jesus said this would happen.."As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me. Night is coming,
when no one can work."

Night..darkness came..

But Jesus is returning, and guess where he returns To HIS TEMPLE..Guess who are his TEMPLE?..and guess what he comes with ..the message of the covenant

Remember he told us "Then Jesus told them, "You are going to have the light just a little while longer. Walk while you have the light, before darkness overtakes you. The man who walks in the dark does not know where he is going."

But the light of the righteous one is like a bright light becoming brighter, until a DAY STAR arises in our hearts"

Yes as Jesus presence is becoming brighter and brighter..the night will be far along and it is near time for us to awaken from sleep."

Then we will do the works of the DAY...Because the night will be gone.

Jesus said " We will do the works he did even greater"

So seeing 'religion' has got you stumped from seeking the gifts of the spirit..we who have the covenant, know that command to earnestly seek the gifts, is still in force in the covenant.

Can you prove that miracles have passed away? 2 Corinthians 5:7 says For we walk by faith, not by sight:
If we could see these things being performed we would be more likely to believe wouldn't we? He wants us to believe because of our faith in Jesus.
I believe these miracles happen every day around us, to say that Jehovah and Jesus do not perform those miracles is not believing in them. Men don't perform these miracles those things were done away with, but Jehovah and Jesus sure do them.

"Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves."
John 14:11

I could tell you of two miracles that I personally know of, but you would only accuse me of lying so I will not waste my time. God loves those who believe in His Son and he will show you a miracle if you truly believe.

Sister Karen

I too have witnessed a healing of a crippled woman.
I too have heard the Lord's voice.
I too have felt the Lord's presence.
I too have had my reencounter with the Lord.
I too speak in tongues a heavenly tongue.

If we are to be called crazy or whatever they choose to call us, it is for the glory of our Lord.

The healing of a sister occured in service on night.
This sister and her husband along with there 4 children, ranging from teenagers to young adults, were members of our church. The family had been attending church for about two years before her healing. She was partially paralyzed from the right side of her body. She had to use a cane, a walker, and at times a wheelchair to walk. Her right arm was paralyzed at 45° angle and her hand was withered and semi-closed. She did have some movement as to offer her hand for a greeting. I remember feeling her right hand cold while her left hand felt warm. We all believed that one day she would be healed. She was. During service. We all heard a scream. Then more shouting. We turned towards the shouting. Eho did we see. Our sister. She was shouting and jumping up and down and then she began running around inside the church praising and glorifying our Lord for her healing. We too joined in praise and worship.
