Do not bring us into temptation, but deliver us from the wicked one.—Matt. 6:13.

Jehovah will not abandon his faithful servants who make this request. On another occasion, Jesus said that “the Father in heaven [will] give holy spirit to those asking him.”(Luke 11:13) How reassuring that Jehovah promises to grant us this force for righteousness! This, of course, does not mean that Jehovah will prevent us from being tempted.(1 Cor. 10:13) But when we face temptation, that is a time to pray even more intensely.(Matt. 26:42) In answer to the Devil’s temptations, Jesus quoted scriptures. God’s Word was clearly in Jesus’ mind when he responded:“It is written . . . Again it is written . . . Go away, Satan! For it is written . . .” Love for Jehovah and for his Word impelled Jesus to reject the allurements that the Tempter put before him.(Matt. 4:1-10) After Jesus repeatedly resisted temptation, Satan left him. w11 1/15 4:5, 6

Its wonderful that Jesus taught us in the Lords Prayer, to ask " not to be brought into temptation but to deliver us from evil..."

It just proves what a great TEACHER Jesus is.

Notice Duh Boy quotes the watchtower..but every Christian is told to " form a longing for the unadulterated milk belonging to the WORD."

Have you ever wondered why the watchtower is quoted , as if its the expert on the scriptures..interesting isn't it?

Its as if the scriptures can't stand alone without the backing of the watchtower..its very subtle but its to reinforce you don't go beyond the watchtowers interpretation of scripture.

But this encouragement comes from our only mediator Jesus Christ.

Hi LL! Its nice to find you here...its been a long time for me!
I only got back on here yesterday, was looking for you. I had been without internet for about 3 months and they couldn't fix the problem so I had to change to cable. All is working fine now. I did get on from my cell phone a couple of times but its a real pain to use a phone for this, lol.

Anyway....What I find interesting is how the bible says it is the spirit who brings/leads us into temptation...odd thought huh?

Yep Its an interesting thought, because Jesus teaches us to pray
" lead us not into temptation"

So Gods spirit does the leading..

When you think of ancient Israel God brought them into the wilderness and they were put through the test, to see what was in their hearts.

Even Jesus was led into the wilderness to undergo his temptations.

We are to pray Jesus said to ask God not to bring us into temptation...I heard once a bloke stated it meant " don't bring me into situations that are too heavy for me to handle".... God states he won't tempt us beyond what we can bear..

But still if we can ask God not to bring us into it in the first place, I am going for it.

I was reading that again and it appears to me with my limited knowledge and understanding, that the spirit leads us into places where 'Satan' can come and tempt us, not God, because God doesn't tempt us Himself. He allows us to be tempted by the devil, but as the bible states, He doesn't allow more than we can bear and makes a way out for us.
Then its up to us individually to choose the way out, or fall into sin. We need to pay constant attention to what we do and say, its like an open door into the world of unrighteousness. Interesting!

I agree with that...there is so much out there for both kids and adults to get involved in/with.
Kids are easily sucked into the world of the occult by all the movies, books and games that are being put out there.
Adults are sucked into gambling, pornography, the bar scene and even false religion.
Its sad but both kids and adults are taught to be envious of the rich and famous and to reach for those types of goals in life.
Satan has a huge playground and tempts everyone he can into enjoying that playground!

Yes it is sad! And everyone of us has or will be sucked into it at least once at some point or time in our lives...even if its for a moment. But most wouldn't admit to it ;-)
