Did anyone else hear the information that this poor man committed suicide because his witness wife deserted him by means of a Unscriptural Divorce . The elders were no help at all , they just told him to wait on Jehovah .Mean while he justly beleives his wife is going to die at armegeddon because the Watchtower says "Just how binding does Jehovah consider the contract entered into by a person, particularly by one who considers himself a Christian? His Word says that those “false to agreements ... are deserving of death.” If such a person does not repent, change his thinking and ways and seek forgiveness, he is in a very dangerous position.—Rom. 1:31, 32." Watchtower 5/15/71 So he kills himself to free her from the unscriptural divorce. Beleiving he will be resurrected per Romans 6:7 "For he who has died has been acquitted from [his] sin" SEE THE STORY AT Brooklyn man leaps 15 stories to his death A troubled man jumped to his death from a Brooklyn rooftop Wednesday in front of horrified bystanders below, police and witnesses said. Neighbors identified the man as Dwayne Fagan, 48, a devout Jehovah’s Witness, who plunged 15 stories to his death. Before his death, the suicidal man warned of hurting himself in a series of disturbing texts messages between him and a family member, a police source said. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/brooklyn/...

Ok, they were both witnesses, and she divorced him. And he did this to release her because he didn't want her to die in A? Is that right? WOW.

Sad. My X went for an unscriptual divorce...not exactly new. A shame he didn't see fit to leave it all in Jehovah GOD's hands. "Vengance is mine saith Jehovah". He judges his own. Instad chose such a tragic way out of his situation.

He didn't choose this for himself. He chose it for her. That is how strongly he believed what would happen. This is horrible.

For someone to commit suicide takes more than just the wife leaving him, there is more to this, most likely a history of depression etc. However this is not a JW belief only, is clearly stated in the bible that the only reason for a divorce is adultery. If his wife left and per say she was a witness by him killing himself it wouldn't make any diference for God, she left she commited a sin period. Is all left for her and God to fix this, not him. I went trough a similar situation, no religion of any sort involved. I had a fight with my boyfriend, I told him I was leaving him, I went out to visit my friend and he killed himself, it destroyed me I even felt guilty for a long period of time, he just wrote in the letter he couldnt live without me. I believe this man killed him self looking for an excuse of either make her feel guilty or in his pain he had to find a reason to do it for "love". He was a victim of his own pain and unability of deal with it.

Thank you for the reference to a real story. My condolences go out to his family. This sad story could happen to anyone of any faith. Everyone who had agree to this "unscriptual" divorce are quilty of a transgression. I hope that each and everyone of them will ask for forgiveness for being part of this tragedy and causing pain to all the victims involved.

She has the right to be single.

Jesus indicates that if a person divorces their mate without Scriptural grounds, they may be blood guilty, as they are making their mate subject to adultry. Matthew 5:32 (NIV) 32 But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery. Some persons divorce their mates, hoping that they will fall into immorality, and then they feel that they are Scripturally free to remarry. They may be Scripturally free to remarry, but Jesus may hold them to account if their former mate, because of their situation falls into immorality. If a woman is being threatened by an abusive husband, or visa versa, the abused one could obtain a legal separation to protect themself. But this isn't something to be done lightly. God sees all treachery and deceitfulness.

This is the problem with a religion full of laws, thats why Jesus released us from law. You are free when guided by spirit and Gods word it is not for any man or org to be a master of youre faith-thats where religion like the JWS mess up-its between an individual and God. When its not you have desperate people looking for loopholes and dont portray the fruits of the spirit, its just who can follow men & their laws. Ridiculous!

Jesus actually gave us a more stringent viewpoint that that of the Law. Note his instruction to the Pharisees, who sought to see a more liberal stand from Jesus. Matt 19:3-9 And Pharisees came up to him, intent on tempting him and saying:“Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife on every sort of ground?” 4 In reply he said:“Did YOU not read that he who created them from [the] beginning made them male and female 5 and said,‘For this reason a man will leave his father and his mother and will stick to his wife, and the two will be one flesh’? 6 So that they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore, what God has yoked together let no man put apart.” 7 They said to him:“Why, then, did Moses prescribe giving a certificate of dismissal and divorcing her? 8 He said to them:“Moses, out of regard for YOUR hardheartedness, made the concession to YOU of divorcing YOUR wives, but such has not been the case from [the] beginning. 9 I say to YOU that whoever divorces his wife, except on the ground of fornication, and marries another commits adultery.”

Jesus never spoke Greek nor did he ever set foot in Greece. So do you think the greeks just needed a loophole for divorce? Jesus spoke Aramaic. When Jesus said fornication he meant, if a person committed fornication (a single person) then lied that he/she was a virgin to he/she husband/wife ,the the person that was the victim could, but not have to, seek a divorce. Which would mean when a couple marries in a jw congregation ,and repeats the famous " till death do us part"they have no loopholes for divorce, and because they made an oath in front of Jehovah and the intire congregation they are stuck with each other untill death.

Jesus spoke Greek, Aramiac, and Hebrew. The world that Jesus lived in, mostly spoke Greek, The Israelites of his day had translated the entire Old Testament into Greek. So when Jesus read from the Scriptures, he most likely read them in Greek. I have never been to England, but I do speak English.

The GB and elders making rules and policing our faith. If you are a JW you cant understand what it means to accept Jesus and have the law written on youre heart. even Paul said we are not masters of youre faith, but the whle WT society is set up that way causing desperate people without faith to find loopholes in the law.

Any rules or directions that the elders enforce, are from the teachings of Jesus and from the Scriptures. These ones may think they have found loopholes, but they are only fooling themselves. God sees all things, even the secret intentions and deceptions of the heart. And you are wrong, if you don't think that I don't know and accept Jesus and have his directions written on my heart.
