WT policies regarding confidentiality remain and Candace Conti, who was supposedly fighting to change them, walks away with 2.8 million. So it makes me wonder, what was her real motive? The money or a change in policy?

Having been appealed a few times, I think the point was made, don't you? They can't ever put that genie back in the bottle. She didn't settle silently before addressing this in a courtroom.. Good for her. She won on an important point. Good for her. She exposed the WT for what they are. AWESOME for her.

Probably that they are duplicitous in their governance of those who believe in their form of worship. Anyone without a predisposition toward supporting them can see it, and those with an honest heart. I'd guess that is who it matters to. You, on the other hand seem to wish to sweep reality under the carpet. Just another bit of evidence that Jehovah's Spirit is nowhere near that organization. If so, Satan's support wouldn't be so necessary to keep it alive.

Matthew 5:

Be about settling matters quickly with the one complaining against you at law, while you are with him on the way there, that somehow the complainant may not turn you over to the judge, and the judge to the court attendant, and you get thrown into prison. I say to you for a fact, You will certainly not come out from there until you have paid over the last coin of very little value

Typical blaming of the victim. Pharisaic or what? If only the WTBTS would have followed the direction of Jesus in this matter instead of worrying about their reputation. It would have saved them a ton of money, and kept them obedient to the example he showed. God keeps His own reputation clean. In the end, the WTBTS won't be a part of that reputation. Those given the minas will be judged before the rest of the world.(Luke 19: 11-27) What little they imagined they had will be taken from them

Luke 8:

Therefore, pay attention to how you listen; for whoever has, more will be given him, but whoever does not have, even what he imagines he has will be taken away from him.

Ummmmm, the WTBTS had and still has a policy of protecting child predators and punishing rape victims.

It time for this woman to move on with her life ,she has been victimize enough ,having to re live this over and over, those who do not condemn this on part of the Watchtower Society ,are just as guilty as those who continue to deny this woman pain

The plaintiffs settled before the California Supreme Court had a chance to look at it. The settled amount would have most assuredly have been less than 2.8 million. That was the number they would have had to pay worst case scenario had their appeal failed.

I believe the plaintiffs capitulated because it was likely that the Supreme Court would have reversed the negligence portion of the judgment (had the supreme court reviewed the case). The plaintiffs built a case on the premise of a sinister "policy of secrecy". Therefore the WT spent most of their resources defending against that premise.(The appeals court affirmed that the policy of confidentially was reasonable and inline with most organizations).

Had the lower court ruled properly about the so-called "policy of secrecy" then the WT could have spent most of their resources defending themselves against the negligence portion of the lawsuit. Namely did the WT ever assign Kendrick to work alone with Candace in field service. And that is the ONLY thing the jury should have decided instead of a policy that the plaintiffs grossly misrepresented.

Also the experts mistakenly told the jury that the elders were mandated reporters. That was not true and unjustly prejudiced that defendants.

Privacy is a major concern in this nation. Have you ever heard of HIPPA? It is illegal and violates someone's civil rights to announce unconvicted felons from the stage. No church does this.

The court ruled in favour of the policies of the WTS stating they served the public interest. They even said the WTS policies went above and beyond what the law required.

This court case was devastating to all those who attack the WTS policies.

have you ever heard of God? If your WTBTS is hashing out it's legal difficulties before men in one of Satan's courts, what is there left to show that they don't rely on Jehovah? If they don't rely on Jehovah for these things that have to do with the unrighteous riches, how could anyone give them the benefit of the doubt that they were looking out for the flock's interests in anything, including the damage occurring because of their insistence on keeping wolves penned in with the sheep. Not only that, but they clothe the wolves in sheep's clothing.

This topic of reporting child molestation has been rehashed and analyzed ad nauseam and it still stands that you don't and can't go publicly announcing everyone suspected of child molestation. It just isn't a reasonable decision ANYWHERE. This is why the court in this case ruled on page 17 of the document:“Accordingly, we conclude that the elders of the Fremont Congregation had no duty
to depart from Watchtower’s policy of confidentiality and warn the members of the Congregation that Kendrick had molested a child. Since that “secrecy policy” was the only basis for the punitive damages assessed against Watchtower, the punitive damage award must be reversed”. Isn't that clear? Any reasonable person can see that. Of course most of you on here are not reasonable. If you go and report child molestation to the police, what happens? What happened in the case of Kendrick when he was reported to the police a few months after he had confessed to the elders? Did the police arrest him, did they put him on a sex offender list? NO. They did none of these things. And neither did the social services, although they all got exactly the SAME information as the Fremont elders! So why expect the Fremont elders to get on the platform and announce to the congregation that Kendrick onetime touched the breast of his 14 year old step daughter?
With Candace, Kendrick denied ever having molested her. However, since he was convicted of molestation of his step granddaughter some years later it stands to reason that he maybe molested Candace too. However, without the granddaughter molestation, Candace would not have had a chance of even one lawyer taking on her case. Innocent until proven guilty. Not every child molester comes forward like Kendrick did with his step daughter. In fact very few do. It is the word of the abused against the word of the abuser. You just can't go publicly announcing that so and so is an ALLEGED child molester. Not in the congregation of JWs, not in schools, NOWHERE!

Matters in the congregation are settled VERY quickly once they come to light. You have no idea what you are talking about. The fact that Candace comes to the elders some 14 years later and demands a change in policy, what were the elders supposed to do? What was WT supposed to do? Read my comments below.

I didn't see the congregational aspect or time in Jesus statement. I will provide it again, you can then show it to me. I'll even add the incentive...

If, then, you are bringing your gift to the altar and you there remember that your brother has something against you, leave your gift there in front of the altar, and go away; first make your peace with your brother, and then, when you have come back, offer up your gift. Be about settling matters quickly with the one complaining against you at law, while you are with him on the way there, that somehow the complainant may not turn you over to the judge, and the judge to the court attendant, and you get thrown into prison. I say to you for a fact, You will certainly not come out from there until you have paid over the last coin of very little value.

There is nothing about the WTBTS policies that resemble Jesus way of dealing with the disciples. You act like the hired man who has no love for the sheep.

. This court case ..did exactly what GOD himself wanted.. IT made the sins of the Church known to the world... and the idiot Lawyer that the WTS..chose to represent them in the case totally showed the heart condition of the WTS ..in that they cared more for their fasade then they do about the well being of the members that they claim to be shepherds of... The widow and fatherless boy is a major point with GOD..and are mentioned numerous times in the scriptures.. LOOK it up.. IF it was not a cinder in God's eye..well then he would not have had it repeated so many times.. be aware Garth that nothing has changed.. and it is God and WHAT he wants that need to be addressed that are more important then having the worldly courts blessing....that is soon to turn against you .

Exactly! She may have walked away with nothing. Undoubtedly her lawyer advised her to take the money and leave. Lawyers are not stupid and he didn't want to take the risk of losing everything, evidently the risk was too high. He thought he was clever by building the case around a "sinister policy of secrecy" as you say, trying to influence the jury to react emotionally, which at first he succeeded. However, since the appeal court's decision was not based on emotion but on facts, it was made evident that no such "sinister policy of secrecy" exists.
It was a pity that the WT was not given a proper chance to defend itself against the negligence portion of the case.

Do you have the same accusation against the Apostle Paul?

He "hashed out" his legal difficulties by appealing to the Roman courts to judge his case.

Congregations are made up of individuals are they not? Candace went to two individuals (elders) to let them know she had something against them. The elders tried to make peace with Candace. They tried to comfort her. They did all they could.
