That is why nobody would ever let a Jehovah's Witness serve on a jury.
Ever seen the Tina Fey skit on 30 Rock, where she TRIES to pretend she is crazy to get out of jury duty? Jehovah's Witnesses just have to explain they are in the cult of JWs to Prove it.

It seems to me that unless your position is that you would never file a lawsuit for damages that would involve a jury trial such as suing a doctor or hospital for medical malpractice that you have a moral obligation to serve on a jury in behalf of others in the same situation. As I understand the Watchtower on this issue a JW can no longer claim that serving on a jury in contrary to the JW religion. They have to argue that serving on a jury conflicts with other personal views they have. I sure wouldn't want to be a JW going before a judge trying to argue why I can't serve on a jury when I can't claim it is against my religion. I doubt most JW's would be up to the task.

Any sane lawyer know the JWs are a cult, any JW would be dismissed.
If they are dim enough to join a cult they are way less intelligent than any other prospective juror.
The legal matter would become all about the WBTS.

This the most ridiculous statement about witnesses. First all, if you believe we are members of a cult... You need to go read the dictionary and see what a cult is. You say things based on what?? If you want to know about who we are contact one of your local Kingdom Halls. The childish comments about the odd and even numbers is so second grade! Grow up and educate yourself and read the Bible. Simply put we choose to live by the Bibles standards. We have a very strong faith. I would be happy to explain to you anytime what we are About. No debating back and forth, really just would like to show you why i am one of JW's. You are probably not gonna be interested. It seems you have formed your opinion based on the stereotype that often follows us around. You may be very surprised, and maybe pleasantly surprised if you show a little humility and talk with a local brother at the Kingdom Hall. Or ask me any questions, as long as you Are respectful, I will do my best to answer. For the record... This is a sincere offer!!:). I could also send you some brochures with great info. These brochures are designed so no matter what religion a person is, you can use these with your personal copy of the Bible.

Of course it will be all from the point of view of the Watchtower Society, if you do read these brochures.

They do not encourage you really to read the Bible without using the Watchtower literature as the guide to spiritual things, from their perspective of course.

A perspective that once you are baptized and you decide that what they are teaching is not quite correct and you do voice this to anyone, can lead you into hot water very quickly with the thought control police and the adjustment bureau, the Elders.

Would never happen
no lawyer would want a jw on a jury because they would tell the truth even if they face the death penalty, and lawyers sometimes don't want the truth. they want to win the case, except a few pearl lawyers who are good as gold and they would want a jw because they will tell the truth and give a good witness.

I have seen cases in court where evidence was surpressed, crucial evidence.
I would hate to be part of a jury where I made an innocent person be hurt because of liars.
I hate being lied to, don't you?

Jehovah's Witnesses are no more of a 'cult' than any other organized religion is. Period. They are some of the most Christ Like and act more Christian than most individuals who merely call themselves 'Christian' out there.
At least DO what Jesus instructs them to, instead of just sitting in a pew listening to a preacher tell them what to do in between singing in robotic tones to a bad organ rendition of "This Is My Father's World" and "Amazing Grace."
They actually go out and act like Christians, like Jesus Christ asked/instructed them to do. Jesus lived by example, HE went town to town and door to door as well, you know, teaching his disciples to the same, and instructed those same disciples to teach everyone else to do it as well!
They just don't sit and talk about doing it on Sundays and think "I don't have to because I'll be forgiven anyway. Besides I'm a good person." Cop out.
Even those who attend any denomination you want to choose of Christianity and Catholics can be dumb, stupid, and plain idiotic sometimes...or all the time.
Hmmmm, you passed judgment on a group of people you KNOW NOTHING ABOUT! That's obvious by your statements. That would dismiss you from any jury in my opinion and excuse me from having to consider any opinion you may have. JW's aren't the idiots, but you have sure shown yourself to be one by your uninformed and ignorant comments.

I hadn't seen her in quite a while... We exchanged pleasantries and she told me she was in the area because she had to report for Jury duty.
As long as i have known witnesses. I have never known them to serve on a Jury. I asked her if witneese were allowed to serve. She repilrs yes.
Well, reporting and serving are two diffrent things. As a tax paying law abiding citizen citizen. One must do their civic duties.
Well, are Jw's allowed to serve on a jury?

I find it most interesting that here we see the level of trust the poster places in the word of a friend.

Apparently the "friends" of the poster are all liars.

Is that because he has no friends or because his friend is in a religion known for it's dishonesty?

I have never questioned the word of a friend to the point that I would ask a bunch of strangers to confirm a statement one of them has made.

This is both sad and very sick!

This is brilliant!

This is just more proof that Jose has no real friends.

So, indeed, Jose questioned a "friend" and had to ask strangers if the friend was a liar.

It must be a sad life to not be able to trust a person you call a friend.

Clearly, Jose has no friends.

Hello just to inform everyone we are not a cult. People label us as a cult to slander not ours but Jehovah Gods name. If you do not believe that Jehovah is gods name look in Psalms 83:18 that verse in most bibles contains gods name if not there will be a footnote stating that the name has been removed, sadly more and more bibles are removing it it might state the Hebrew word JHWH yah-weh whis is the translation for Jehovah. Making a generalized statement about any group of people whom you personally do not know is not a smart idea I would, at lest try to get to know people first before I made an assumption. Future man you sound like what we refer to as an Apostate you seem to have intimate knowledge of our system so I'm guessing you were disfellowshipped for some reason if you were even baptized at that. However you know that we do not support any doctrine or "idea" unless it can directly be related and supported to bible verse. That being said....Satan started this whole wickets system of things with an "idea" did he not? Also those little bible verses in the watchtower and Awake! Magazine are to take you to the bible to directly reference where we got that information from Future man. I am going to court once again tomorrow to justify to a judge why I cannot attend a jury trial and with Jehovah Gods help I will win like others ave done all over the country, and even if the judge will not find me exempt I will respectfully decline and gladly accept any punishment or fine for Standing Firm In The Truth.

they don't trust him, his history has shown that he is a betrayer of any that have tried to befriend him, he turns once he gets information about the person, they know that and are using him, carfully I might add.

Just to inform everyone wondering I went before the judge today and cited scripture at Luke 6:37 Matthew 7:1-2 and John 8:7 and explained my religious standpoint on them. His response to me in front of the court was, "If more people were like the Jehovah's Witnesses we would have no need of courts of law and the judicial system, you are excused." I thank Jehovah God once again for supporting me in my endeavors.
