As many of you are aware, ThirdWitness and STRS have given the book “Captives of a Concept” huge Thumbs Down. Neither of them has been able to get the sense of what the book has to say.

They not only don’t agree with anything in it, they both have tried over and over again to convince their readers that my purpose in writing it was to lie in order to deliberately mislead and deceive. Neither one of them allows for the possibility that I am simply mistaken.

I try not to take their accusations too personally but they do it so often that it is sometimes difficult not to feel hurt by their mean-spirited and often sarcastic comments.

But what often helps me recover is when I receive a letter from someone else who has read the book and HAS gotten the sense of it. Here is a letter I received yesterday…

“Don Cameron,

“Just wanted to say that your book 'Captives of a Concept' changed my life. Thank you for all the hard work. I read it in December 2009, and within 15 minutes I knew that my life as a JW was over.

“Many thanks to you. My family all resides in Mississippi. They have all read your book and my entire family is out, as of this year. My wife is the only one remaining.

“We are slowly working with her. My dad and myself were both ministerial servants for over a decade. My brother served at Bethel for 7 years.

“We are delighted to be free.”

Now I feel better.

I have been a JW for most of my 70+ years. I have no desire to be anything else. I've seen people come and go thru the years. My late Father served as a ministerial servant for a lot of years. I have a sister who is a pioneer, and a nephew who is an elder. AND a niece who learned sign language just so she and her husband(he learned it too)can go and help the hearing impaired in some area where there is a real need. My parents spent their lives as JW's until their deaths. I hope to do the same, or until Armageddon comes, which ever comes first.

>>TW has become so blinded by self styled apologetics that he does not even say what the WTS themselves says on so many ocasions that so many of us have observed that he is more an embarreshment to the WTS itself!

>>For years before he came on the scene their was Greg Stafford and ultematelty Greg started to doubt about the leadesrship of the WTS to! He is good on apologetics and have debated Dr James White of http://www.al pha$omega.com/ regarding Jesus deity!

>>Be as it may an as everyone can testify to the fact that TW is skilled on character assisanations at times.Hopefully one day when he sees the WTS drops the 1914 teaching doctrine totaly in his lifetime he mighth think of leaving!

It is always heartwarming to see that among 100 naysayers and namecallers that have nothing but insults to sling....to realize that ONE PERSON has been helped by your truthful words....is so gratifying. It does make all the insults and venom....worthwhile to find others that have benefited by your thoughts and are another step in freeing the mental cobwebs and the unpleasant ripple effect left by the WTS teachings.

FOLKS I want you to think about the serious implications of what you and I are seeing

here we have a life long jw, who in her Golden years of life yes Golden years of life is now ALL ALONE, BY HERSELF AND her source of contact????? is with FORMER JW, NOW THAT IS SAD

instead of being cherished as a Pillar within the congregation, being invited out regularly, having young folks in her hall visit her to CHECK ON HOW SHE IS DOING, i would bet the farm less than 5% of the young folks in her hall have stopped by to see her in the last 5 yrs

i would bet less than 10% of the members in her Hall have stopped by in the last 5 yrs to cook for her, take her shopping, just to read to her, just to say

SIS WE LOVE YOU, I WOULD BET THE FARM THAT LESS THAN 10% OF THE BAPTIZED MEMBERS OF HER congo has come by to see her

see this is one of the things i used to try to stress when i was an elder, that sometimes we became SO CONCERN ABOUT BRINGING NEW FOLKS THRU THE FRONT DOOR BY KNOCKING ON DOORS of folks who didn't want us there and YET FAILED TO SEE OUR OWN BRO OR SISTER SITTING right beside us if falling out the back door

folks would come up to me after talks and say WE NEEDED THAT SO BADLY, PROBLEM IS the wt CULTURE IS NOT GEARED toward looking out and checking up on long time members, it is a PRODUCTION BASED religion of RECRUIT NEW FOLKS AND THE HELL WITH THE OLD MEMBERS heck they are in so they need to shutup and be thankful for when we do stop by

would it not be a sad sad thing for this woman in her most tender years,

have to pass from away while sitting at a keyboard talking to former jw CAUSE NO ONE IN HER HALL GAVE HER THE TIME OF DAY

NOW THAT IS A SAD COMMENTARY ABOUT A RELIGION THAT CALLS IT SELF THE TRUTH

I understand the quandary, there is loyalty to Jehovah's name and the people he has allowed his to be called by his name, and then there is a big organizational structure that demands obeisance.
to be able to separate jehovah the Spirit our God, from jehovah witness organization, can cause a confusion in people's minds, because of an inability to discern the two are different.
Its lack of discernment really, because the need for other books to tell them what to do, is amazing from watchtower literature, to this book being advertised here. we have ever only needed one book the Bible, but what can you say? people go backwards and forwards, from this persons opinion to that persons. And seeing Jesus is the only person God has sent to us, it shows people are so gullible.

you can't help but feel Pity FOR THIS WOMAN

a few days ago she came up here and said

she can't remember a time when the wt had a SET PRICE FOR LITERATURE

I WAS LIKE WHAT??????????

after awhile it ain't even funny watching the mindset of a jw in action, it is like watching a drunk person at first you might find it funny, but shortly you realize this is a man with a mom, brothers , sister, he went to school , he was in the 5th grade at one time, he had hopes, dreams and somewhere along the way life issues side tracked him, yes he is laying in his own urine and he is one to be pitied

i see so many long time jw much the same way, they have given sweat, blood and tears to an organization that has bamboozled and hoodwinked folks for over 100yrs BY KEEPING THEM RUNNING AFTER THE CARROT

THE END IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER, ITS IN THE CORNER, ITS near the corner, its right upon us, very soon, shortly, time is short, time is running out and then we see someone say, I have been chasing this promised END COMING SHORTLY FOR 70'S YEARS, i have put many of my hopes and dreams on HOLD WAITING FOR THE WT DREAM TO COME TRUE

HOW SAD

you have stated it so well, the jw confuses God with the Boys in Writing and when you think about it that is what the wt wants them to do

and telling folks to listen to what the print LIKE YOU WOULD THE VOICE OF GOD HIMSELF, THAT is one Arrogant Fool

is it not amazing looking back at how it never registered , we never grasped it, we got hoodwinked and bamboozled by these guys

Bro, That weas hard hitting post, but oh so true man!.......I have seen many of the older friends who only get a token hello or gretting. The only relationshipd they really have with fellow members of the Congo are the ones they have built up over the years. Much like everyone else in "the world"........The witnesses are no diffrent in that respect!.........It would be nice if as a collective people the Witnesses can take care of their own like elderly care and shopping and excursions (instead of the token watchtower articles on caring for the elderly hogwash).... They just forget about them. It's sad!. I've known some of the elderly who are in nursing homes and they are largely forgotten. The elderly (if they are fortunate to have caring family) have to rely on their families.......... In all honesty, the spanish congos are slightly diffrent in that respect, but then the culture is diffrent.(I've attended both)

There is such a poignant yet tragic story unfolding in Nomi's experience, when we see how INvaluable the older ones are seen as in what purports to be THE "only pure religion" and the "ONLY religion that God approves".

The Native Americans place a great value on those up in age and keep them CLOSE within the family unit while listening and cherishing the wisdom they impart.

NEVER would they ignore the needs OR companionship of their senior citizens, and are KNOWN for exhibiting a deep and abiding LOVE AND RESPECT for them.

The Watchtower Publishing corporation is a business and treats their loyal followers as the most lowly of employees. Unless a JWs has "ties" to a WTS rep of stature....the old ones are virtually forgotten.

Nomi is one of countless older faithful WTS followers everywhere....who are struggling to stay happy and to cling to memories that were of "days long ago" when she was young and healthy and OF USE to the publishing corporation.

Somehow....I don't feel THIS "pleases God" at all.

I can see the advantages of being organized Jace, just like your ideas for doing something for the Elderly, and much more can be accomplished by being ONE BODY in Christ. So really I have to consider this collection into one body , is future, because of us being scattered, and what has happened, is a gathering into something other then the BODY of Christ has occurred. The organization as a whole does not claim to be the BODY of Christ but an organized structure and publishing company.
This is what Jesus warned us about in his telling us the signs of his presence, he said false Christs would arise and mislead many. So this has happened, there was an explosion of prophets at the beginning of the signs, Ellen White, Joseph Smith, John somebody with the Christadelphians, and all these little groups all got started. But it was not time

Yeah. Beautiful post Nedoba and always so honest and too the point..... I have to read more about the Native cultures. They are so rich. True riches!... I have been to a Pow-wow in Eastern Long Island on two occassions. You are of Abenaki descent. Correct?.........Enjoy your evening. I'm going to shut off soon myself. I'm past my curfew. LOL!.......
