The following scriptural passage sounds like Revelation chapter 18 but it was taken from Ezekiel chapter 16:

1 The word of the LORD came to me: 2“Son of man, confront Jerusalem with her detestable practices

3 and say,‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says to Jerusalem: Your ancestry and birth were in the land of the Canaanites; your father was an Amorite and your mother a Hittite.

4 On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths.

5 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.

6 “‘Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you,“Live!”

7 I made you grow like a plant of the field. You grew up and developed and became the most beautiful of jewels.b Your breasts were formed and your hair grew, you who were naked and bare.

8 “‘Later I passed by, and when I looked at you and saw that you were old enough for love, I spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness. I gave you my solemn oath and entered into a covenant with you, declares the Sovereign LORD, and you became mine.

9 “‘I bathed you with water and washed the blood from you and put ointments on you. 10 I clothed you with an embroidered dress and put leather sandals on you. I dressed you in fine linen and covered you with costly garments.

11 I adorned you with jewelry: I put bracelets on your arms and a necklace around your neck, 12 and I put a ring on your nose, earrings on your ears and a beautiful crown on your head.

13 So you were adorned with gold and silver; your clothes were of fine linen and costly fabric and embroidered cloth. Your food was fine flour, honey and olive oil. You became very beautiful and rose to be a queen. 14 And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign LORD.

15 “‘But you trusted in your beauty and used your fame to become a prostitute. You lavished your favors on anyone who passed by and your beauty became his. 16 You took some of your garments to make gaudy high places, where you carried on your prostitution. Such things should not happen, nor should they ever occur.

17 You also took the fine jewelry I gave you, the jewelry made of my gold and silver, and you made for yourself male idols and engaged in prostitution with them.

18 And you took your embroidered clothes to put on them, and you offered my oil and incense before them.

19 Also the food I provided for you—the fine flour, olive oil and honey I gave you to eat—you offered as fragrant incense before them. That is what happened, declares the Sovereign LORD.

God made Jerusalem great and wealthy and famous. But she made herself the whore Babylon the great city.

This has absolutely nothing to do with the Watchtower's imaginary world empire of false religion.

Rev. 18:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
O Babylon, city of power!
In one hour your doom has come!’

11 “The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buys their cargoes any more—

12 cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones and pearls; fine linen, purple, silk and scarlet cloth; every sort of citron wood, and articles of every kind made of ivory, costly wood, bronze, iron and marble;

13 cargoes of cinnamon and spice, of incense, myrrh and frankincense, of wine and olive oil, of fine flour and wheat; cattle and sheep; horses and carriages; and bodies and souls of men.

14 “They will say,‘The fruit you longed for is gone from you. All your riches and splendor have vanished, never to be recovered.’ 15 The merchants who sold these things and gained their wealth from her will stand far off, terrified at her torment. They will weep and mourn 16 and cry out:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
dressed in fine linen, purple and scarlet,
and glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls!

17 In one hour such great wealth has been brought to ruin!’
“Every sea captain, and all who travel by ship, the sailors, and all who earn their living from the sea, will stand far off. 18 When they see the smoke of her burning, they will exclaim,‘Was there ever a city like this great city?’ 19 They will throw dust on their heads, and with weeping and mourning cry out:

“‘Woe! Woe, O great city,
where all who had ships on the sea
became rich through her wealth!
In one hour she has been brought to ruin!

20 Rejoice over her, O heaven!
Rejoice, saints and apostles and prophets!
God has judged her for the way she treated you.’”
----

Now here's the nail in the coffin:

Matt. 23:

29 “Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the graves of the righteous. 30 And you say,‘If we had lived in the days of our forefathers, we would not have taken part with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’ 31 So you testify against yourselves that you are the descendants of those who murdered the prophets.

32 Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your forefathers!

33“You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape being condemned to hell?

34 Therefore I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify; others you will flog in your synagogues and pursue from town to town. 35 And so upon you will come all the righteous blood that has been shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berekiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.

36 I tell you the truth, all this will come upon this generation.

37“O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing.

38 Look, your house is left to you desolate.

Prophecy fulfilled in 70 AD upon Jerusalem aka Babylon the great city.

Babylon the Great is the world empire of false religion, embracing all religions whose teachings and practices do not conform to the true worship of Jehovah, the only true God.

The original Babylon was the seat of false religion in Bible times. So the symbol Babylon the Great in Revelation fittingly means false-religion throughout the world.

All the worldly religions have some heritage from the original Babylon.

Where does the Bible say that specifically? It must be in there and worded the exact same way as you pointed out in order for what you say to be true. You would rightly accept nothing less from anyone else.

Now where is it? Book, chapter and verse, please.

You only believe that because you heard it first from the Watchtower. But Babylon the great was a literal city. It was the City that killed the true prophets of God and our Lord Jesus. That city was Jerusalem. You know this. But like the Watchtower you prefer lying even in the sight of God and the angels.

Jesus didn't have a problem with religion. He had a problem with the nation of Israel because they would not put faith in him.

But you would rewrite the entire Bible and make this about God being angry at religion. How absurd can you get?!

Bible prophecies are DELIBERATELY obscure and not worded directly.

They are DESIGNED so that only believers with honest hearts and pure motives get the full sense of them.

It is Jehovah God through the holy spirit who helps us to understand what the symbolism is.

And once he has opened your eyes to the truth, how obvious it now seems. You know its the truth because it is the best possible answer that fits all the scriptures.

The bible was written for everyone, believer and unbeliever.

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for TEACHING, for REPROVING, for SETTING THINGS STRAIGHT, for DICIPLINING IN RIGHTEOUSNESS, 17 that the man of God may be FULLY COMPETENT, COMPLETELY EQUIPPED for every good work."

I do hope you can see this is talking to both believer and unbeliever.
Once someone puts faith in JESUS NAME the Holy Spirit teaches...there is no need for ORGANIZATION, JW or KH intervention, hahaha.

(John 14:26) "But the helper, THE HOLY SPIRIT, which the Father will send in my name, THAT ONE WILL TEACH YOU ALL THINGS and bring back to YOUR minds all the things I told YOU."

(John 16:13) "However, when that one arrives, the spirit of the truth, he will guide YOU into all the truth, for he will not speak of his own impulse, but what things he hears he will speak, and he will declare to YOU the things coming."

(Isaiah 54:13) "And all your sons will be persons taught by Jehovah, and the peace of your sons will be abundant."

(Jeremiah 31:34)“And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying,‘KNOW Jehovah!’ for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them,” is the utterance of Jehovah.“For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.”

(Hebrews 8:10-12)“‘For this is the covenant that I shall covenant with the house of Israel after those days,’ says Jehovah.‘I will put my laws in their mind, and in their hearts I shall write them. And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people. 11 “‘And they will by no means teach each one his fellow citizen and each one his brother, saying:“Know Jehovah!” For they will all know me, from [the] least one to [the] greatest one of them. 12 For I shall be merciful to their unrighteous deeds, and I shall by no means call their sins to mind anymore.’”

(1 John 3:23) "Indeed, this is his commandment, that we have faith in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and be loving one another, just as he gave us commandment."

Exactly my point.

The Eunuch said he could not understand Isaiah's prophecy UNLESS Philip explained it to him.

*** Acts 8:30 Philip ran to him, and heard him reading Isaiah the prophet, and said, "Do you understand what you are reading?"

*** Acts 8:31 He said, "How can I, unless someone explains it to me?" He begged Philip to come up and sit with him.

That is because prophecies are generally deliberately obscure and difficult to understand, just like I said.

That is why Christians have to TEACH the Bible to newcomers:

*** 2 Tim 3:16 Every Scripture is God-breathed and profitable for TEACHING, for REPROOF, for CORRECTION, and for INSTRUCTION in righteousness,

And let us not forget that the Apostle Peter said that people who do not know the Bible get the scriptures twisted and misunderstand them.

*** 2 Pet 3:16 In [Apostle Paul's letters], there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

This is why God gave us TEACHERS and SHEPHERDS in the Christian congregation:

*** Eph 4:11-13 He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a full grown man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

But there is nothing "deliberately obscure" about who Babylon the Great is when you know the Bible. Every Christian in the first century knew John was talking about the city of Jerusalem.

The scroll of Revelation says that it was the city where our Lord was impaled. Also Jesus said that it was not permissible for a prophet to be killed outside of Jerusalem. He was no exception.

However, you were suggesting that Jesus was impaled inside of religion. That is ridiculous. Religion did not crucify Jesus Christ. The wicked Jews of Jerusalem did. Religion did not drive nails into his hands and feet. Men did.

Your problem is that you have failed to read the scriptures for yourself. You have given your mind over to the Watchtower Society to do with it as they wish. You have been taught in error. You have been woefully misinformed.

The scroll of Revelation is a first century prophecy written for a first century audience with a first century fulfilment upon a first century generation.

Jesus was the End. He represented the end of Adamic sin. The curse has been lifted.

Yes Gareth Philip explained the passage about JESUS, then when the Eunuch believed, Philip baptized the Eunuch and left him, and NEVER saw him again.
Do you suppose the Eunuch found a group of JW's going door to door to who would take up the teaching of the WT and take him to 5 meetings per week at a KH?
We can build one another up without going to a KH, we can praise God and His Christ without going to a KH, and we can most certainly worship GOD without going to a KH.
Faith in JESUS, not faith in any organization or religion or society or publishing company!
Who is it that Jehovah said should teach their children?

(Deuteronomy 6:6-7) "And these words that I am commanding you today must prove to be on your heart; 7 and you must inculcate them in your son and speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk on the road and when you lie down and when you get up."

(Psalm 78:4-7) "Which we do not hide from their sons, Relating [them] even to the generation to come, The praises of Jehovah and his strength And his wonderful things that he has done. 5 And he proceeded to raise up a reminder in Jacob, And a law he set in Israel, Things that he commanded our forefathers, To make them known to their sons; 6 In order that the generation to come, the sons that were to be born, might know [them], That they might rise up and relate [them] to their sons, 7 And that they might set their confidence in God himself And not forget the practices of God but observe his own commandments."

(Proverbs 22:6) "Train up a boy according to the way for him; even when he grows old he will not turn aside from it."

(Ephesians 6:4) "And YOU, fathers, do not be irritating YOUR children, but go on bringing them up in the discipline and mental-regulating of Jehovah."

(Jeremiah 31:33-34)“For this is the covenant that I shall conclude with the house of Israel after those days,” is the utterance of Jehovah.“I will put my law within them, and in their heart I shall write it. And I will become their God, and they themselves will become my people.” 34 “And they will no more teach each one his companion and each one his brother, saying,‘KNOW Jehovah!’ for they will all of them know me, from the least one of them even to the greatest one of them,” is the utterance of Jehovah.“For I shall forgive their error, and their sin I shall remember no more.”

The serious problem with your thesis is that the Revelation prophecy is unfolding NOW during what the Bible refers to as the "end times" and what are often referred to as the "second coming".

Nobody believes the twisted words and teachings of the phony GB/FDS except for you die hard JW fanatics.

You are so badly mistaken and deluded that it hardly seems fit to warrant a response. The Bible itself screams that the "endtimes" were that first century generation. All the apostles taught that THEY were living in the last days. Jesus was made manifest at the conclusion of THAT system of things. It's says it right there in your copy of the New World Translation bible. But you completely ignore it as if it's not even in there. Instead you make up excuses and say that Jesus' apostles were mistaken about Jesus coming again before their generation passed away.

Shame on you! Why can't you believe what the Bible actually says instead of trying to always explain it in your own mistaken way?

It's clear that the Revelation was given to John after the Romans came and suddenly left giving the Christians time to escape the city of "Babylon" or Jerusalem. Thus we have the angel flying in mid-heaven urging God's people to flee the city because of the plagues that God was bringing upon her for her sins had amassed clear up to heaven for the blood she had spilled of the prophets and all those sent to her including Jesus who was the heir.

Folks, you see what happens when a person starts believing the ramblings of a doomsday cult.

Scripture is VERY SPECIFIC about WHEN the "end times" took place.

Read what the bible says instead of reading the discombobulated and twisted rantings in a doomsday cult...

Hebrews 1:1-2:
1 Long ago God spoke to the fathers by the prophets at different times and in different ways. 2 In these last days, He has spoken to us by [His] Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things and through whom He made the universe.

Well what does the Bible say will happen at the "end times"?

*** Dan 2:44 In the days of those kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed, nor shall its sovereignty be left to another people; but it shall break in pieces and consume all those kingdoms, and it shall stand forever.

Basically the Bible says that the culmination of the "end times" is when God destroys all human governments and replaces them with the reign of Jesus Christ.

Has this happened yet?

I still see a world filled with human governments. Jesus Christ has NOT replaced any of them yet.

That is still for the future.

And FOR THE RECORD, readers should know that the Revelation prophecy was written 20 years AFTER the destruction of Jerusalem so it could not possibly be referring to that.

Christianity destroyed the Roman Empire.

One historian said:
"There is no greater drama in human record than the sight of a few Christians, scorned or oppressed by a succession of emperors, beating all trials with fierce tenacity, multiplying quietly, building order while their enemies generated chaos, fighting the sword with the word, brutality with hope, and at last defeating the strongest state that history has known. Caesar and Christ had met in the arena, and Christ had won."

The Roman Empire was the climax of paganism; and even in the days of Theodosius there yet remained four hundred twenty four pagan temples, each of them manned by a tremendous staff of pagan priests.
Every emperor was a self-styled god; and well into the second century Christians were being burned alive for refusing to burn incense to the emperor, as proved by the martyrdom of Polycarp at Smyma (155 A.D.).
Did Christianity win over that?
Yes.
In the year 389 A.D., the Emperor Theodosius closed down all the pagan temples, proscribed and outlawed the pagan priesthood, and initiated many other changes that emphasized the totality of the Christian victory.
