The day before yesterday..

It was pretty chilly. My customer wasn’t around, so I sat in my vehicle parked in her driveway, started up the engine and turned on the heater. Just to thaw through a little.

When..2 JW’s hove into view, 2 women, both walking so slowly they appeared to be catatonic almost.

I watched, intrigued, from the warmth of my car. They knocked on the door opposite. No-one answered. All the time they were in deep conversation. I thought I’d time how long they stood at the door. They stood for a full 5 minutes. Then they moved next door. No-one answered. Another 5 minutes passed. Then they slowly, very slowly, moved around the corner. I was still able to see them, my car was parked almost opposite the T-junction.

A few minutes later another pair came into view. This time it was an enormously fat woman and a young boy, about 10 or 11. They then knocked on the same door as the preceding pair had done. Another 5 minutes of standing around, then next door again, same story, and they too drifted around the corner at the same snail’s pace.

By now I’m mesmerised and chuckling loudly to myself wondering what was coming next. Sure enough, a couple of minutes later 2 fellas appeared, all brief cases and hats and deep discussion, serious faces and much nodding from the younger one. They ambled by even more slowly, missed the turn-off the others had taken and carried straight on. They didn’t actually knock on any doors at all, just the same rigor-mortis pace all along, up the street and back again.

I’d sat for around 25 minutes watching the whole circus. From my vantage point I noted that just 1 person had opened their door.

6 people, 25 minutes, 1 person spoken to.

Wow – that’s witnessing!

What you saw was the afternoon of the walking dead. Giving no thought to their actions they are driven on by an unreasonable need of approval by their cult masters. They do not enjoy the work; most can see how useless it is. it is amusing to those of us who broke free.

I did a thread some time ago I seem to remember about the same thing. Something about them looking like they were going to a funeral. It's a joke isn't it? They reckon it is the most important message in the world that they are carrying and they act like you have described. Is it any wander no one talks to them.
Each year that goes by takes more time to create a new recruit. You soon can see why when you watch them on the doors

This is ALL they are doing....plodding along as if they were going to the gallows, while wasting time, gas and effort so that they have something to fill in on their time slips at the end of the month. And yet, they have been successfully convinced by the leaders of the WT publishing Corp that all this cheerless trudging from door to door.... is "pleasing" to jehovah.

Well..it pleased the god of the WTS beyond measure.

Satan applauded every nano-second of that wasted time and effort.

I sure satan tried his darndest to inflict them with pneumonia or flu, and he may have succeeded.

Satan hates even his own children.

It's the ONLY way to rack up as much time as they claim to spend out in "service".

My question at this point is service to whom? Not God, that's for sure.

Nope. Slow walk or no slow walk. They are most likely very much at peace with themselves.

Why should they be in a harried rush to go from door to door?. They will get there, eventually. They also have angelic help for those who are rightly disposed to hearing the truth.

Most importantly they are doing their part to sanctify Jehovah's name and give a witness as he commanded his followers to do through his son, Jesus Christ.

You are just viewing it the way you would view it through your warped lens. You so have a love for Jehovah's word. So, in that light i can understand why you would say that.

LOL!

Keep in mind that this is an individual who claims that he left the truth over 40 years ago.

Ans yet, he is still intrigued enough to sit there for a half hour to watch.

Go figure!. The characters in this place crack me up.

Freudian slip!? Of course! You have to know that true Christians speak of the love of their saviour and the good news of His return! I and many others I know preach every chance we get-and we dont count our time! I remember trying to find ways to get our time in-even hoping an unbaptized youth was at the field service meeting so as to get our time started! We dont have to play tricks anymore we love our Creator and our Lord and are happy to praise Him before anyone that will listen. We also look for ways to encourage fellow Christians-even if the time cant be counted. Door to door has become next to useless yet still use it since if left up to their own devices few JWS talk to people in their day to day life-so called incidental witnessing. The JWs have become a joke trying to get people to studt their propaganda and to join their high control cult has become a losing propasition. At a time when most bible based religions are growing and the harvest is white with ripeness- the JW form of recruitment is grown through children of JWs and those that want to tow the line so they can rejoin their families. When the waters of so called Christendom are sopposed to be drying up,it seems just the oppiste is happening. Be prepared for more 'creative accounting' from headquarters to make it appear they are even growing at 2%! How sad!

I go to conventions once every two years or so and its like watching somone slowly die! Every time their is more paranoia ,more downtrodden faces and sad attempts by some when they see me with my long hair, trying to put on the happiest of faces. But the weariness, sadness and fear in their eyes shows through and gets worse each time I see them. I wish I could reach out and show them the joy of getting under Christs kindly yoke then the burdensome ,controlling yoke of men! You know its true deep down but fear &pride keep you enslaved. Those that dont come to these web sites at least can feighn ignorance, but no one who is a JW that is here for any length of time knows their is something wrong and the GB are not Christs faithful slave-unless their is some mental deficiancy-you are merely whisteling in the woods!

Nope!

I work some mornings during the week, 9 - 12.

Then I have the afternoons to myself enjoying a good book or boyz TV.

I agree TPMP,but here is the problem, they are preaching the wrong "Good News" message.

Go back and read the context of chapter 10 and see just what they are suppose to be preaching.
