what is the measuring stick used to determine what "Christian" is?(please don't say the bible, or other generic term, be specific) many seem to know who isn't one in their opinion, So, what is one, and by what standard?

no one that posts here on a regular basis is Christian.
I don't agree or disagree. I would just like to know what a Christian is. Then I could understand this topic.

<quoted text>Well how about this,
Since you don't what a Christian is then your not Christian.
How can you be something if you do not know what it entails?
Well, it doesn't seem that being a follower of Christ makes one a Christian. I am that, a follower of Christ. Christianity is a religion. It seems to have different requirements than just being a follower of Christ.

Posting on a "un-Christian" site, does NOT make you "not a Christian", as for me I AM a Christian, and I am here to defend God's word. I don't post here everyday, and not a lot, but when I do, I put my whole heart and soul in my posts, defending God's word.
Whether one thinks or believes I am a Christian or not does not phase me, because I know the truth!:)

Blessings!!!

A Christian is one that confess with their mouth, the Lord Christ Jesus as their savior. And they know in their hearts and teach that the Heavenly Father Jehovah God loved the world so much that he gave his only begotten son Christ Jesus as a ransom sacrifice that anyone believing in Him will gain everlasting life. A Christian believes in their heart that God has raised Christ Jesus from the dead.

then there is actually no way to tell for sure. No wonder it is a religion. Lot's of money involved, and people are in charge of their own story. That way everyone's happy.

Reads like you really did not want to know what a Christian is.

So why ask as if you really wanted to know?

What I wanted to know is whether there was a definable way for all of you judges out there to determine what one is. There is not, it seems.

You can not very well be a Christian, if you do not believe in Christ Jesus and his ransom sacrifice. If you do not believe that Christ Jesus is Gods Son whom HE sent down as a sacrifice to pay for mans sins, you cannot be a Christian if you do not believe Jesus was willing and did indeed give himself up to our Heavenly Father, and believe that God has raised his Son from the dead.

How can one claim to be a Christian, if they do not truely believe in Christ Jesus ransom sacrifice and resurrection?

What do you believe a Christian to be Sidgi.?

You are saying that someone who merely follows Christ, yet doesn't do any of those showy things you mention, isn't a Christian. I always thought there was more substance to it. something about the way one lives their life, not the claims they make.

I did not say this, you did.

Those that follows Christ Jesus, follows his examples within the Scriptures as best that they can being sinners, not perfect like Jesus.

SALVATION:
God's part=John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave His Only Begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Christ's part=Romans 5:8
But God commended His love towards us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.

Man's part=Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Romans 10:10
For with the heart man believed unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto Salvation.

I can read the bible. I have read those things. None of those verses say anything about being a "Christian". Just because some from the nations called Jesus followers "Christians" that shouldn't carry much weight. Jesus himself didn't. God didn't. The apostles and older men in Jerusalem didn't. I just wonder what it means. The central theme of the "Christianity" most organizations sell, is the trinity dogma. If a person does not accept it, they are deemed not a Christian. Yet that isn't a part of the description you gave. It's almost like the stuff the WTBTS hides until someone is part of the organization.

A christian is a member of a man made religion, claiming to represent the interests of God through the supposed worship of His son. A follower of Jesus is someone who spends their time trying to emulate his life, and his love for his father.
