hey now, be nice. I just started going to meetings again for the first time in 3 years. I've literally been to the Memorial since fading.

Stand firm you need to realize that everything is out in the open these days with the internet. Anything of any importance to JWs will be on the internet within the hour.
When I was a witness 20 years ago I new absolutely nothing about the societies past. That has now totally changed. As I have said before, never again will you see the large increases that occurred in the 1970s. Most new bible studies will now check the internet before they commit to being a JW. That is why in most lands any increase is small.

In most lands the increase is going up. In a few lands, usually places like Canada and western Europe, the more affluent lands, the increases have slowed. But the percentage of increase overall has risen as of late.

In the United States for instance, the percent of increase in 2009 was 4% over 2008. But by all standrds, even a 2% increase is considered good. Worldwide the increase is 2.5% in 2010 over 2009.

Right now in my congregation, there are about 12-15 new ones regularly attending meetings, and they are Bible students, just studying. There are about another 20, that are currently studying, but as of yet they have only attended the Memorial. The increase is picking up very well in my area.

Considering you would expect JW chidren who have been brought up in the relgion to stay with it as the bible says, the increase is pretty rubbish

New Living Translation
Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it.
We had a tv programme on the other night, which showed that in many christian denominations christianity was doing fine. Certainly some had better increases than JWs

I am quite sure they have internet access in most of the USA. Even many Mexicans and Brazilians have internet access.

When we count members, we don't count anyone that is not an active publisher.

Yes, some young and inexperienced ones do leave, thinking that the grass is greener elsewhere. They are caught up in their raging hormones and desire for friendship with the glittering world that Satan tempts them with.

And even with those losses, and others that leave for various reasons, Jehovah's Witnesses are still growing faster than any other Christian faith, according to every source that I found online.

I have seen some of the reports that you mention, and in certain countries, they are doing well, but not on a worldwide basis like JWs.

total propaganda by a jw pr rep, designed to make those reading it think that their self-appointed jw gov body is not being exposed.... and to keep the rest of the members from joining in with those leaving in droves.

your wicked reign is over, richardneck..... branch offices are closing down, you are getting kicked out of various 3rd world courntries,.... congregations are merging.... property is being sold off.
.... good by.... the anti christ is forming, your wicked leadership with the BIG MOUTH CLAIMING TO BE GOD'S APPOINTED ORGANIZATION, is on the way out!!!... you are among the first to go.

Richard they are doing rubbish in well over half the world.
We have already said to JWs countless times that over half the world has never heard the JW message. Even in countries that you have good numbers, most people if asked would have no idea what you teach. They certainly have no idea what the good news of the kingdom is according to JW beliefs.
Why don't you make a special effort this holiday to ask all the people you call on what the good news of the kingdom is.

Certainly we would find the results very interesting. So what about it. It is part of your ministry, so find out and then report back here next week.

Incidently that scripture is totally wrong if you apply it to JWs youth. Thewre are many, many youths leaving, and who can blame them.

I would be willing to bet that half of these so called active witnesses put in about 1 hour a week. I do more than that on Topix.

aadriver,

Everything you hav said in your post is only speculation and your own opinion.

I do know what people believe, and when I ask them what they believe, they say that if you are good, you go to heaven when you die. But if you are bad, God is going to torture you forever in hell. This is basically what the pagan religions have taught all the way back to the beginning of history. That's the "good news" I hear from them.

Regarding youths, what Scripture are you talking about? In the nearly 15 years that I have been in my present congregation, two have left and been DFd, because of immorality, not because of what they have been taught, but what they didn't want to follow as God's directions. Our single youths, from 14 to 27, make up about 35% of our congregation, and the elders recently pointed out that they average over 20 hours per month.

We just last month had our CO visit, and he said that the congregation publishers are averaging 14.3 Hours. That figure doesn't include the pioneers by the way. He also pointed out that 25% were at or below 5 hours.

OK let's look at some facts.
You have just told us what people believe when you call on them, and it is not the JW message is it?
I am presuming you are talking of people who have spoken to JWs before.

Clearly your congregation was a lot more than the average. If you look at the 2010 worldwide report, and then look at USA, you should be able to work out what the publishers do. You will need to discount the pionees and their hours first. The publishers hours are nothing like 14 hours a month

I apologise for not given the bible verse I was talking about. It was Proverbs 22.6. It basically says if you bring up a boy with the right scriptual principles he will not depart from it.
Certainly in the UK the youths are doing a runner, and you can also see from the worldwide report where there is little increase in many lands, JWs cannot keep their children in.

You may remember the Pew report. Just to remind you, it showed that JWs were one of the most mobile religions on the planet. It stated that of the ones brought up in the faith, 66% leave when they are adults.

aadriver,

I certainly don't see that in my circuit.

Those that leave, are not humble and sheeplike. But after a few years in the world, they begin to realize what they had, and if they are humble, they come back and find refreshment.

Those that would like to come back, but don't, are too proud and end up being like many here that come to justify their course.

So the 66% figure ends up at probably around 30%, because many return after they sow their wild oats, and they bring with them whole families. I have seen this many times, here. We find these ones in the door to door ministry, that have moved in from other areas. We invite them to return to the fold, we start Bible studies with them, and they make good progress, because they knew all along that they had the truth. They were just not willing to live by Jesus' standards, and got caught up in Satan's world of illicit sex and drugs.
