On any other day, Sobia Ahmed would opt to forgo many of the snacks on offer at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee.

As a Muslim and a regular visitor of Six Flags New Jersey I just think its good business by them to provide services like this.

Recently I believe they had a joint venture with a Middle Eastern Muslim nation to create a theme park there.

With experience in serving Muslims and understanding their modest way of life, I believe they are a stronger and more diversified company as a result. Good for them.

I don't agree with this pandering to one specific minority religious community...

Doesn't the Muslim religious community realize that part of the reason for much animosity and distrust of their community is that they don't wish to mingle with others and prefer to remain within their own community? In the United States, a certain amount of assimilation into the larger community is necessary, but not to the point of totally losing a group's identity. Any special accommodations made for a minority group should not be a burden onto the larger community.

So when will Six Flags offer Kosher food at the theme park? Jewish dietary law requires food to be Kosher...while Muslims can eat Kosher food when Halal is not available.(Muslim dietary laws allow a few types of seafood that is not permissible within Jewish dietary laws, so it is not reciprocal the other way around.)

How about skipping all of this religious stuff and remembering that this is just an amusement park? What about Fright Fest? Is there going to even be a Fright Fest this year or will somebody protest it? I am Catholic and I could care less if Six Flags has a Catholic day. I don't think that any religion or every religion should be catered to. Is there going to be a Satanist day?
Sounds silly I know but if you allow one than you have to allow another especially in a place that has kind of become a haven for teenagers. Not that all teenagers are satanists but the midwest is kind of boring at that age and with the state of things nowadays everybody is protesting everything.

We all know the answer
public outcry followed by apologies for religious sensitivity.

How bout a White family day.... I'd make the drive! Shame on you liberals.
Uhh, EVERY DAY is "White Day".

As for all the Christian comments - what part of “Six Flags also has created special events for Catholics, Baptists and Methodists, park officials said…” do you not get?

Nice to see all the bigots come out of the woodwork.

Unfortunately, Trufax, the Republicans no longer represent the American conservative element, but rather, the wealthy international corporate interests. This country blew it when we didn't elect Pat Buchanan for Preident.
You are correct! What I meant to say was that I am becoming more conservative as I get older.

I rather like the idea. It gives Muslims a chance to enjoy the park and all its amenities, while being faithful to the tenets of their religion.

How narrow-minded you haters must be to believe that all Muslims are terrorists. Give me a break already. Turn off Fox News and WIND and come out of your caves. You just might learn something new about the world.

Saying all Muslims are terrorists is like saying that all people who live in the Deep South are racists who belong to the Klan, or that everyone who vacations in Colorado likes to ski, or that everyone who lives in Chicago is a gangbanger.

My point is that you cannot generalize about an entire ethnicity, age group, religion, etc.

Please, people, let's stop the hate. It gets us nowhere as a country.

You are the only person that has said that all Muslims are terrorists.

Yea Yea Yea! just like every month is white history month. We got all of that. I already made the point that it is a theme park and really should have nothing to do with any religion including my own. If you want to pray go to church, if you want to play go to the park. I suppose that will be taken as I am bigoted against Catholics as well but who cares? It's too late for this sh!t tonight

Uhh - DUH! But they are still all "white" so why the reference of a "white day"?

And that's exactly the reason why Six Flags has days for various Christian sects such as Catholics, Baptists, etc. or even certain ethnic groups - such as Polish Day.

Depending on the ethnic make-up, there are also Greek Day, Italian Day, Irish Day, Scandinavian Day, Slavic Day, etc. at amusement parks or other similar type venues all across the country.

And it's not like Muslim Day takes into account any particular race, much less ethnicity, there are Arabs, blacks, Asians and yikes - even whites who are Muslims.

And gee, I wonder why we don't have the problem of Muslim extremism like Europe does.

Could it possibly have anything to do w/ the fact that Muslim-Americans feel more integrated and part of society than Muslims in Europe, due to events like this?

Enough is enough with celebrating anyone and their religion and ethnicity, except whites. It's time to get vocal folks.
You obviously can't read well or simply can't understand what you have written.

The article states that there ARE events for white ethnicities - like Polish Day.

And besides, what more do you want?- American culture (and I guess according to your bigoted mind, that means "white culture") is propagated everyday in film, TV, advertisements, books, history classes, etc.

ONE Day at an amusement park - and one where anyone else is still free to attend and you have a problem w/ that? Sheesh.

Try meeting people from different cultures or backgrounds - it may just open your closed, bigoted mind.

Sure. But can you cite me a Muslim-American spokesperson who has come out publicly against Muslim terrorism?

Can you refer me to a Muslim-American spokesperson who has publically advocated tolerance towards Israel?

Can you refer me to a Muslim-American spokesperson who has publicly criticized the discrimination against Christians -- even criminalization of Christianity -- in Muslim countries?

Can you cite me one American-Muslim spokesperson, who has publicly renounced the Koranic concept of Sharia Law, whereby all non Muslims are second class citizens?

I'm all ears.
