When my 16 year old daughter began buying tops that showed cleavage I became very upset. I know that it is the style now but I am a modest person. I checked her every morning before she left for school to make sure no cleavage was showing.

But then I overheard her talking to her friends about some teacher being a "creep" because he couldn't keep his eyes off her boobs! That's when I realized what was going on. Girls cleavage is Creep-O-Meter. They will have NOTHING to do with boys that are unable to control themselves enough to keep their eyes off the chest area. They are "training" boys to have more self control. The fathers of the next generation are being chosen right now. And only the one's that have self control are being chosen as boyfriends by American girls.

What does this have to do with Islam? Muslim men are NEVER given the opportunity to learn self-control. Their control comes either in the form of public whipping or subjugation of women. How can Muslim women determine who is a creep or not? They can't. They don't have Creep-O-Meters in the Muslim world.

Actually, they are totally unaware of this. They are innocents. You, however, were probably rejected.

Interesting...

I had to learn self control not to pull the pony tail in front of me... just kidding.... but the temptation was there :)

I agree with you that a mixed sex classroom is constructive in many ways. Respect for opposite sex (and wanting to gain respect) is big motivational force for on one to want to become a better person.

Hmm... it sounds confusing if taken out of context... for clarification, it was my girl classmates pony-tail who sat next row in front of me during my early high school years...

Having had my ponytail yanked a lot, I knew what you meant. Muslim men probably have no idea what we are talking about. They have never been given the opportunity to learn the smallest of self-control. That's sad when you think about it.

IMO, you should make your daughter dress more modestly. If she was wearing a hijab then the teacher wouldn't be staring at her all the time... Of course if you want the teacher to keep staring then let her show cleavage.

Since she is in high school she has many teachers but only one that was creepy. As I listened to the girls talk, they ALL agreed that this one teacher was a creep. These girls are learning to identify creeps which is a very useful skill for a girl. But Muslim girls never learn this skill and muslim men have no reason to learn how not to be creepy.

I agree with most of what you're saying. Please understand that Muslim men have a great reason to learn this "skill"- In Islam it is a HUGE sin to look at another woman sexually unless it is your wife. This is a form of zina and is ONE OF THE WORST SINS. Muslims are taught at a VERY YOUNG age to not "look twice" or "gaze" at sexually attractive women... This is a lesson that Muslims learn at a very young age, but I honestly don't think it is being taught in any other religions.

Don't take my word for it though... Walk past a group of muslim men with cleavage and high heels. Chances are high that they will not look twice or gaze. Walk past a group of christians or atheists and see what happens...

HA!!! I have lived and worked in Muslim country. Since I am obviously western woman, men had NO scruples in that regard. Actually, the feeling was that since I was western, I must be loose.

What control I am talking about is SELF control. Not external control or fear of death. That is not self control. It is perpetual inmaturity.

Seriously, you really need to visit a Muslim country. Or even live there for awhile. Then let's see if this conversion of yours "takes".

Indeed, not a healthy game.

It sounds a lot like the religious prohibitions against sex. They had to choose something that they knew people would fail at, otherwise there wouldn't be a steady stream of guilt to exploit.

I couldn't walk around with parts of my genitals periodically visible and expect women to "respect" me so much that they didn't see it. Yet this peek-a-boo trick for women happens ALL THE TIME. Barely a day goes by that I don't see some part of a woman's anatomy that SOME women would be offended to know that I saw. And I've found that if I work around some women long enough, I will eventually see almost everything. I realize that this makes me guilty of who-knows-what to some people.

Plainly stated, if women didn't want you to see these things, they wouldn't be showing. And this even applies to girls playing games so they can ridicule males. This also applies to clothing that covers the skin but is so thin and clingy that it's almost like not wearing anything.

And if I'm wrong in my views, then why should women have to wear anything at all? I mean, if the obligation is on me to not see what they choose to show, then they should be able to walk around naked and expect me to develop super-human eye-aversion skills to help them maintain their prized modesty.

When my daughter was in Egypt, EVERY man she passed hit on her. They must have figured that a one-in-a-million shot was a lot better odds than they had in the rest of their lives.

Islam is the only religion I know of that teaches specifically to not "check" out women with their eyes... There are numerous verses in Quran about this exact issue. Anyone know of any other religions that teach this?

I come from a muslim country (Malaysia) and I know this is not true. Muslims are just as vulnerable (if not more) to sex attractions. I went to muslim majority high-school and I see more muslim perverts than non-muslims. There is even a survey done in Malaysia to gather internet use statistics, and one result shows that the only state controlled by fundamental-muslim political party (Kelantan) has the highest rate of PORN related search!

Ask youself why your prophet need 9 wives at once and had 22 documented women? Any idea how many slave girls he had sex with? Haven't you read your hadiths about your prophet's lifestyle, and why should we believe that his followers are 'better'? Before you try to defame christianity please without verifieble facts (how can you look and tell one is christian or not), please answer for yourself these questions about your prophet... at least we can point to your hadiths and say it.

This subject is in the Christian Bible too, its a sin even if you just look and thoughts in your head are about what you would want to do with or to the young lady.

I get the notion that its creepy for a man to gawk at you and all, but still if you dont put it out there they are still creeps and can make you uncomfortable even if you are not dressed provocatively.

Men are men, and how they were raised no matter where in the world they live or what they believe, is what is the meter for how they treat and respect women.

The best test I know is how they treat their Mother. If a man treats his Mother with dignity and respect, he will usually treat women with the same courtesy.
