There is no accounting for taste.

People who follow evil in numbers is not unheard of. Do you remember the Nazis and Communists?

They can be insulting all day long, no problem. It's the violence and perversion that goes hand in hand with islam that is the problem.

I'd rather they burn bibles and flags than people.

The Old testament is almost as bad as islam. That's because Muhammad stole his ideas from the OT. Islam is a second hand hate ridden doctrine that is racist, homophobic, misogynistic, persecutes minorities, endorses, slavery & rape, kills pagans, and murders people for thought crimes. It's all in the Quran if you read it. If it was a political party it would be Nazis. And two divisions of the SS fought for nazi germany.

I think if most people here would check their history you would find more people have died in the name of Christianity than Islam. The Crusades for one the English occupying Africa, India, the Spanish in South America and so on. I feel that any one person who claims to be religious should also practice tolerance the one who do not are no better than the few Muslims who sully their religion these days.

The Crusades were in response to islamic invasions. I stopped reading your post at that point since you have been proven yourself to be ignorant or a liar.

Check the history of the Izlamic invasion of India. It is estimated that 82 million people were killed. Any Christian comparison?

One difference between Christianity and Islam is that when a Christian kills he goes against the teachings of Jesus. When a muslim kills he is obeying his god/muhammad. The terrorists are doing what their god tells them to do.

The Crusades in its simplest form was about getting christian access back in Jerusalem and some surrounding areas. They spent 200 years at war in the name of god, and in the end all they really did was plunder and kill anyone who didn't have their beliefs. I don't think that poster was lying just pointing out some very basic facts..The invasion your referring to by the way were the Arab–Byzantine wars which far less Christians died in than the crusades.

Who do you think they were getting access back from? The muslim invaders.

I know the history. But don't take my word for it. I prefer proof too. Here.

~~~~~~~~~~
Crusades
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crusades
Crusades were religiously motivated campaigns conducted between the 11th and 16th centuries predominantly but not exclusively against Muslims in the Near East [a] but also against pagans, heretics, and peoples under the ban of excommunication for a mixture of religious, economic, and political reasons.
...
The Crusades had major political, economic, and social impacts on western Europe. It resulted in a substantial weakening of the Byzantine Empire, which fell several centuries later to the Ottoman Empire. The Reconquista, a long period of wars in Spain and Portugal (Iberia), where Christian forces reconquered the peninsula from Muslims, is closely tied to the Crusades.
~~~~~~~~~~

I'm not a fan of any of the 3 major religions. They all have a foundation of oppressing women. The main difference is that most christians and jews no longer oppress women. Most islamic countries still do. I can post pages worth of evidence of this, but I really don't feel like getting into the depressing gore of islamic atrocity against their own women tonight. It's not good reading material before bedtime. Besides, you've been around here long enough to have seen most of it already!

I don't think the satanists or the FSM have a history of oppressing women...

I think we are on the same page here and I do agree you on the oppression of women in some of theses different religions. I as well an not a particular fan of the 3 majors as well. My point was that at some point or another most religions have used violence at some point in history to try and force their views on people.

As far as reading the wiki article I went through way more info than I care to remember back in college I was pulling stuff from memory when I posted earlier. One thing I remember a professor advising us on when we were studying the crusades and the many conflicts surrounding this era were that you will find dozens of different interpretations and most of them based of the writers own personal religious beliefs.

My final note on WVU receiving that collection is that for researchers and people simply interested is that gives another view on history. I think reading several sides of event is the best way to understand things sometimes.

Loved the Pastafarian reference by the way.

I agree. All the major religions have at some point committed violent crimes against humanity in the name of 'God'. They oppressed men as well as women, but I confess my primary interest and research has been about the effects on women.

I'm impressed that you recall so much from your college studies! Your prof made a good point, plus history is written by the victors, and rewritten by new victors with alarming regularity. One of the reasons I don't put stock in any 'holy' books. They were written by humans. One of my favorite fictional books made the point very well - "The bible did not get faxed from heaven".

Of course WVU should accept the books, films, etc. I think it's a crime to throw away any books, from the simple standpoint that you never know what you might find contained within. I get very annoyed with a few christian friends that want to ban books they don't like. One of the silliest examples of this was the Harry Potter books. I probably never would have read them, but for some friends griping about them and wanted to burn them. I would have missed out on 7 really enjoyable books. Then I was rude and gave the set to their kids for Christmas one year.

I'm not so keen on the idea of introducing the public to islamic culture. If muslims would be honest about their own history as well as current events, I might feel differently.

I got a kick out of how the FSM started. It was a better approach than the typical arguing.

Well in that case you agree with the muslims imperialists who claim Spain, portugal, Sicily, india, pakistan etc etc as part of the caliphate. Or are you just an appeaser of racist nazis because izlam is a neo nazi doctrine. It discriminates against women, is homophobic, opposes democracy & freedom of speech. Izlam is the nazi party at prayer.
