Not a prophet, but a messenger. Prophet comes with scripture. Hence, Muhammad is the last prophet as stated in 33:40. Whereas, messengers confirm scriptures as stated in 3:81, 98:2-4 shows this too. So, every prophet is a messenger, but not every messenger is a prophet. Many muslims have this concept reversed.

Agree Prophet comes with the scriptures , and of course definitely Muhammad saw comes with the scripture. Hence he is the prophet who was sent to people previously and the message is still stand for the mankind up till now and until the last day. Hence he is both the Messenger and Prophet until the last day otherwise one might be following either Jesus or Moses or whoever they might be. He is not the prophet and messenger for a certain period ala Jesus a.s. etc. who was sent to the children of Israel only, the lost sheep.

Allah says:“Muhammad is not the father of any of your men, but (he is) the MESSENGER of Allah, and the Seal of the PROPHETS. And Allah has full knowledge of all things.”
[Surah No. 33, Verse No. 40.]

Hence confirming again he is both the prophet and messenger.

“Those who follow the Messenger, the unlettered PROPHET whom they find mentioned in their own (Scriptures),-in the Taurat and the Gospel; - for he commands them what is just and Forbids them what is evil; he allows them as lawful what is good (and pure) and prohibits them from what is bad (and impure): He releases them from their heavy burdens and from the yokes that are upon them. So it is those who believe in him, honour him, help him, and follow the Light which is sent down with him,- it is they who will prosper.”
[Surah No. 7, verse No. 157.]

There are 25 Prophets cum Messenger mentioned in the Quran, who is the one that is unlettered prophet and messenger that being mentioned in Torah and the Gospel who are both Messenger and Prophet?

It can be the Holy Ghost isn't? There is no reference coming from god that any of his prophet is something of a ghost that is holy .. it is a linguistic labyrinth and hence people produce a translated version of the scripture. A translation of a scripture always stay as a translation it will never emerge in the form of a version of the scripture. A translated version of anything will always produce many more versions regardless.

A ghost that is holy is an invention of men .. modern people nowadays is doing away with the concept of a Ghost holy or a Holy Ghost. But many people of the past had died believing in it anyway.

No. 33:40 DOES NOT say 'Seal of the prophets'. The arabic is very clear,'rasoolallah wa Khaatimun Nabiyeen'(messenger and final prophet).

Rasool=messenger,
allah=God, wa=and,
Khaatimun=final,
Nabiyeen=prophet

So, the correct translation is:

[33:40] Muhammad was not the father of any man among you. He was A messenger of GOD AND THE FINAL PROPHET.

A very clear distinction. He was A messenger AND THE FINAL PROPHET. Hence, the claim that prophet Muhammad is the last messenger and prophet is entirely inaccurate according to Quran.

God is One and submit mj,

May Gog guide us all,

[3:81] GOD took a covenant from the prophets, saying, "I will give you the scripture and wisdom. Afterwards, a messenger will come to confirm all existing scriptures. You shall believe in him and support him." He said, "Do you agree with this, and pledge to fulfill this covenant?" They said, "We agree." He said, "You have thus borne witness, and I bear witness along with you."

from the above verse, God is talking to Muhammed and He is saying to Muhammed " I took covenant from all the prophets....If God is speaking to Muhammad and he meant to include him He would say "including you Muhammed" and be clear about it.

my brothers, if i say to you I have invited all the brothers to dinner tonight, and i dont say including you as well, wouldnt that be excluding you, plus if God did intend to say that I am sure He would have made it clear.

In the end God knows best, may he guide us all, and please dont quarrel with your christian and jewish brothers, the only one to judge us all is God alone, we are all children of Abraham, I desire to see a day when we can all love each other rather than quarrel on our petty differences.

bless you all.

I know Mohammad is the last prophet, but if he is the last messenger, as most believe, why does the Quran (3:81, 33:7, 33:40) and the Bible (Malachi 3:1-21, Luke 17:22-36 & Matthew 24:27) speak of another messenger? A consolidating messenger who is to purify and unify GOD's messages that were delivered by all of GOD's prophets.
[33:40] Muhammad was not the father of any man among you. He was a messenger of GOD and the final prophet. GOD is fully aware of all things.
[33:7] Recall that we took from the prophets their covenant, including you (O Muhammad), Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary. We took from them a solemn pledge.*
[3:81] GOD took a covenant from the prophets, saying, "I will give you the scripture and wisdom. Afterwards, A MESSENGER WILL COME TO CONFIRM ALL EXISTING SCRIPTURES. You shall believe in him and support him." He said, "Do you agree with this, and pledge to fulfill this covenant?" They said, "We agree." He said, "You have thus borne witness, and I bear witness along with you." [3:82] Those who reject this (Quranic prophecy) are the evil ones.
As well, the Quran talks about in [40:34] how other communities believed their messenger was the last messenger but were wrong.
[40:34] Joseph had come to you before that with clear revelations, but you continued to doubt his message. Then, when he died you said, "GOD will not send any other messenger after him.(He was the last messenger)!"** GOD thus sends astray those who are transgressors, doubtful.
So, my question is why does everybody believe Mohammad is the last messenger when according to GOD he is not?
Peace

5:3 Forbidden to you is that which is already dead, and the blood, and the meat of pig, and what was dedicated to other than God, and that which has been strangled, and that which has been beaten to death, and that which has fallen from a height, and that which has been gored, and that which the wild animals have eaten from except what you managed to rescue, and what has been slaughtered on altars, and what you divide by the arrows of chance. This is vile. Today the rejecters have given up from your system, so do not be concerned by them, but be concerned by Me. Today I have perfected your system for you, and completed My blessings upon you, and I have approved submission as the system for you. So, whoever is forced by severe hunger and not seeking sin, then God is Forgiving, Merciful.

Yes, GOD perfected our system and we humans screwed it all up again. What happened in Islam is no different than the children of Israel screwing things up every time they received a messenger. When Moses was sent to the people, the religion was perfected. When Isaiah came the religion was perfect but humans messed it up. When Jesus was sent to confirm the Torah (as a messenger) and brought the Gospel (as a prophet), the religion was perfected, but humans messed it up. This has been the system since the beginning.

Think about what you are saying for a moment. If religion was only perfected with the Quran, then the people following previous scriptures prior to 610 A.D. would not have the right guidance and therefore, not have a chance to make it to heaven. You are taking that verse out of context to justify your rejection of the 3:81 prophecy.

MUHAMMAD (PBUH) is the final messenger. Amam mehdi who is said to be from the linage of holy prophet from her daughter will be an leader of islamic world but he would not be a messenger because he would not bring anything new. He would lead the muslims in battle of armagedon. And a lot of muslims believe that amam mehdi has been born and will be known in 2028.

The Quran does not talk about a 'Medhi'. That is from hadith; the words of men. The Quran, the word of GOD, says a 'messenger' will come after all the prophets (whom the covenant was made with in 33:7, 3:81) and scriptures have been revealed, and will confirm they are from GOD. The question is whether you believe the word of GOD (Quran), or the words of men (Bukhari, Hanbal, Ahmed etc. Hadiths)?

You should choose GOD.

To reiterate, from the beginning of this thread:

[33:7] Recall that we took from the prophets their covenant, INCLUDING YOU (O MUHAMMAD, Noah, Abraham, Moses, and Jesus the son of Mary. We took from them a solemn pledge.*

Clearly, the covenant included Muhummad.

[33:40] "Muhammad was not the father of any of your men; he WAS A MESSENGER (Rasoul) of God AND the LAST PROPHET(Nabi)."

As a Christian, I find this distinction fascinating, and wonder who exactly this "messenger" will be who confirms all existing scripture, especially since I keep being reminded by Muslims here that the Gospels are corrupt. Why? Mohammad didn't believe that the Gospels are corrupt.

I'm sure you Free-minders have. Compromisers always find a 'good' conclusion that allows them to disregard and abrogate Quranic verses in order to make the Quran conform to their own wishes.

[Quran 23:71] Indeed, IF THE TRUTH CONFORMED TO THEIR WISHES, THERE WOULD BE CHAOS IN THE HEAVENS AND THE EARTH; everything in them would be corrupted. We have given them their proof, but they are disregarding their proof.

This verse directly addresses people like you Free-minders. Like the verses says, you manipulate the truth to conform to your opinions. However, GOD gave you proof of the truth (math miracle), yet you consistently disregard GOD's signs. Consequently, you reject the clear information in 3:81; that a messenger will come after Muhammad to confirm existing scriptures. It is very, very clear, but your ego augmented by your arrogance blinds you to the truth. It is as simple as that.

Of course, you are blind to your own works. The devil has adorned your works in your eyes. Thus, you will respond with some eloquent words, mistranslated verses, and manipulated meanings to justify your ego-based opinions. And if you can't find a good argument you will resort to the Arabic to derive a certain meaning and cause confusion. Thus, perfectly showcasing how 23:71 applies to you, right before everyone's eyes.

Peace.

I think you must first read 5:3, 10:20, 17:59, 41:42. And read Them very carefully, please. I don't wanna argue but after messenger Mohammad I don't think we're gonna get more messages and therefore messengers.
