I'd appreciate any information, quotes you can give to support your answer. And I'd like to know what the penalties are for committing this crime.
Thanks!

I understand that 'Disbelief' is the worst crime in Islam.

Disbelief is the worst crime because it is a crime not only against one self but a path that then opens a portal to the world of other crimes where crime is no longer considered a crime.

Prophet Moses committed a murder but God forgave him.
Apostates are to be left alone and not cut or stoned because God created them and He will deal them.
Adultery can also be forgiven because it's just about two sweaty bodies and not necessarily emotions.
Prophet Abraham lied when they asked him who killed their gods. It was forgiven because he was making a point.
Hatred can be forgiven because it comes and goes.
Hurting a child is horrible but God protects the child with a phase already known as death so the child makes an exit from this horrible world where they torture him and enters Paradise, considering the fact s/he was not given a chance to fight for it.
Stealing is punishable with a minimalistic sentence, cutting the hand, not cutting off. Cut as in paper cut so as to let the society know what this person does.
Anger is an emotion, it comes and goes.

Penalty?
By whom?
If a person decides to not believe and act upon The Quran or if a Muslim decides to reject Islam and The Quran, that is it, s/he is to be left alone by all humans.
That is why there is a Last day, when we all die, Resurrection Day, when God brings us to life and Judgement Day, where He AllPowerful, The Most Wise, The Real Judge will decide who was right/wrong.

And He will create the penalty, not us.
God is The Judge, not us.
We were told long time ago Thou Shall NOT KILL.

What does God say about disbelievers in the Koran? What does God say about what their punishment is?

Wrong. "Shirk" - or setting up partners with God is the most serious offense. Disbelief can be anything from denying a pillar of Islam to not accepting some parts of the Qur'an. You didn't even put shirk as an option in your poll. How disappointing.

We have already written all about disbeleivers in The Quran:

The Quran says: 16.39" Disbelievers are liars." In addition the Qur'an also says that "disbelievers are an open enemy to you" (4.101), that they are evil 5.59), worse than beasts (8.55), miscreants (24.55), the lowest creatures (58.20), perverts (63.4), and wicked (80.40).

We all know that no real Believer in God would do things like Hitler, Bush, Saddam, UBLaden, Milosevic,....

Their punishment is HellFire.

Contradiction alert!

One can't be a disbeliever and a liar.
Disbelievers honestly don't believe Islam to be true. That's what the word means.

The Quran presumes that anyone who rejects Islam does so knowing it is the truth but wishes to be a sinner, or that God has hardened their hearts to the truth.

This is just a poor excuse to explain why so many people reject it and in my mind disproves the Quran.

Disbeliever IS a Liar by definition, amigo.
Disbeliever sees The Truth, sees The Sign and then chooses to disbelieves and says i don't believe it.
How?
He just saw the sign, didn't he?
Because he chooses disbelief, that's how.

Nobody wants to be sinner, disbelievers BELIEVE that they are doing good when they are SINNING. They don't think that SINNING is evil. They think and they BELIEVE sinning TO BE GOOD AND BENEFICIAL.

Bush: typical disbeliever: he thinks and believes he is right. The whole world hates him and calls him name and is asking him what really happened on 9_11 and Bush is avoiding them.

Hey buddy! Disbeliever and liars fall in two completely different categories. You can still be a disbeliever and truthful, or a liar - or you can be a believer, and a liar, or truthful. Listen amigo - it's time to get a little educated.

Disbelieve means you don't believe.
It can't mean you believe but lie about it.

Disbelievers are honest in their disbelief.

Whether they lie about other things is irrelevant to this debate.

Because the signs are false, delusions, just wishful thinking.

You fail to see the 'truth' of Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism or paganism or any other ism yet to their believers their 'truth' is obvious.

Your argument is based purely on the presumption that your 'truth' is the right one.

I disagree.

Once again your mental capacity for understanding a simple truthful paradox lingers in the back of your mind.

Disbelievers do not necessarily have to be honest in their 'disbelief'. Disbelievers might as well say they're something, but are not it at all. I can name you many examples of where people had to lie about their own faith to escape certain persecution. Palestine, Germany, Holocaust, Sebrenica Massacre ring a bell?

P.S. This isn't a philosophical debate. This is a debate where you have to give evidence and statistics. Start trying.

Disbelief in Islam is a crime worst than murdering, lying or stealing? Islam has major problems seems Muslims love their false religion more than they love humanity.

The reason I was lured into Islam was the logic and scientific reasoning in the Qur'an. Would you like me to elucidate? ;)

A disbeliever who lies about his belief is still a disbeliever.
He still doesn't believe.

So those who disbelieve Islam honestly disbelieve in Islam even if they lie about it (by saying they believe).

Alen's assertion that they are lying about not believing is nonsense.

I have to agree, the way Alen put it does not make much sense to me. I'll have to talk to him. But realize my point. People have been persecuted during this epoch in which we've made our way on Earth - and we've all played the game of deceit.

P.S. I'm here to stop the bias against the Muslims - especially when I'm coming closer to Islam.
