Hi everyone.
I have seen that you guys sometimes go real heavy on each other.
I hope with my joining to contribute to a more calm and equanimous conversation.

I noticed that two of the most obnoxious posters of the Forum, "Sick of it" and "Zionists please get out" are not posting anymore.
They probably have been banned.
Good riddance too!

This forum is a waste of time. It's better to be an observer than a participant, as you may bring yourself down to the level of feces throwing simians in the process of participation

Why, thanks Pawn-King-Nine!
Well, i've seen some real nasty comments from both the opposite factions.
Kind of scary. But i finally decided to enter the "fray" because friends tell me i'm quite aplomb and i seldom or never loose my temper.
I'm a little hesitant to say it but ... here it comes ... i am an iraqi muslim, living since the last 7 years in Alaska.
There, i said it!
I sometimes am a little scared to "come out of the closet". I have met with some unprovoked hostility, animosity if you like, on the streets and at parties.
Hope we can still be friends.

Wow! From Iraq, how did you end up in Alaska?(not many immigrants would migrate there)

Hi Devon.
I must say your post is a little intriguing. May i?

Is it? Than, why ogle at it from behind the curtains?
Devon Moore wrote:

And then again, you do participate! After all you did post!
And what's the point in "observe" it if you do not participate?
And can you not be a participant -even a passive one- if you "observe" something?
But thanks for the warning.

Yes, i have seen it.
From both camps.
But i am sure i won't stoop to those base levels, even if provoked. Not if i know who i am.

Hope we can be friends too.

Well we are bringing the Word to the four corners of the world, after all!

Seriously though.
After my village was razed by a few NATO bombing raids i and a few other kids were offered a scholarship in the USA. A handful of survivors were offered treatment here.
Gossip had it that they thought Saddam was hiding in our village. Which, after obliterating it, were proven to be just that: rumors.
I chose Alaska because i have some distant relatives who are settled here since a couple of decades.
As a matter of fact there are almost six hundred thousand muslims living here.
We have beautiful mosques too.
I don't hide the fact that i am living thanks to benefits, ever since i came.
I had a brief stunt at a McDonald's, but i got fired after i refused to handle pork.
It certainly is not easy for me to find work here.
Living on benefits, a thing for which i am often chastized.
But i see it as a way for the US to make up for destroying my country.
I can assure you, no one that i know is trying in any way to proselytize, contrary to what many non-believers here claim.
Peace.

"six hundred thousand muslims" living in Alaska?

But it can't be because Alaska has a population of about 700,000 only. And according to this:

http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/blogs/s...

"There are only about 2,000 to 3,000 Muslims in Alaska"

Hmmmm, checked up on that population figure; PKN is correct.

http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/02000...

You're village was taken out by NATO trying to get Saddam, you're on welfare because you deserve it as compensation, fired because you refuse to handle pork at McDonalds...sounds like an Iraqi country song. Don't know, somethin' fishy goin' on here....

And you say Muslims are the vast majority of the population of Alaska...

"I have met with some unprovoked hostility, animosity if you like, on the streets and at parties."

Ah...a persecution complex.

Didn't take you long at all to make this an issue, and of course we take your word on it.
:p

"Living on benefits, a thing for which i am often chastized.

Too bad you cannot appreciate how many lives this country you've chosen to live off of has saved by overthrowing the murderer Saddam.
