Or when alternatives are found.
As Iran cannot sell its oil, mayhem and collapse of a society based
upon oil wealth and corruption and the inherent despotism of Islamic rule is happening.

How dependent is the United States on foreign oil?

.
No shortage of fuel eh? Then why did the car shrink to the size of a golf cart and electric cars coming on the scene?
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-srWw9M0Cfkk/TkdqHKd...
Why does the price continue to rise if there is plenty? Last I heard, when there is an abundance of something, the price is down and stays there until it becomes a scarce commodity, then the price rises. If we had so much oil in the US, then why is it imported at high cost prices?
.
How dependent is the United States on foreign oil?
In 2011, about 45% of the petroleum consumed by the United States was imported from foreign countries.1 This was the lowest level since 1995.
Petroleum includes crude oil and petroleum products. Petroleum products include gasoline, diesel fuel, heating oil, jet fuel, chemical feedstocks, asphalt, biofuels (ethanol and biodiesel), and other products. In 2011, about 60% of the crude oil processed in U.S. refineries was imported.

Watcha gonna do when the well runs dry.
Consider these facts:

A major oil company, BP, adopts the sunflower as its logo and starts saying that its initials stand for "Beyond Petroleum".
Exxon-Mobil, the world's biggest oil company, says that it is finding it harder and harder to find anywhere to sink new wells.
The biggest oil-importing country in the world invades the country with the second biggest oil reserves and puts them under its control.

Life Without Oil by Steve Hallett and John Wright.2011.

Petroleum enabled the world population to reach its present-day total of 7 billion, argue environmental scientist Steve Hallett and journalist John Wright. They both doubt that this population will sustain itself once oil supplies run low this century.

Credible evidence suggests that we have already entered the era of peak oil--when the world has discovered all the oil there is to discover and supplies will steadily shrink ever after. Oil yields have been declining in the United States, Venezuela, and every other major producing nation, and most large oil companies have been reducing …
The series’ most poignant installment so far, however, is one titled “Imagining a world without oil.” It describes in stark detail what might happen if one day the world decided to decommission all its oil tankers, rigs, pipelines and strategic reserves. The authors, environmental scientist Steve Hallett and journalist John Wright, expect that we’d initially see sky-high prices and long lines at pumps. After a few weeks, fuel wouldn’t be had at any price and even first-world citizens would struggle to stay fed and out of the elements. This is no Hollywood doomsday scenario—it’s a levelheaded extrapolation from current trends in the fast deteriorating world energy situation. And the first thing to be grasped about this situation is that oil is in terminal decline and the world is in no way ready for its decline.

Oil is bringing about the downfall of civilization.
People need clean air, clean water and chemicals-free food more that oil.
Without oil we would still be far from 7 billions voracious, bloodthirsty humans.
Life as we know it is coming to an end. We got some rough ride ahead.
Agreed..and many won't see it until it's too late...

What you say is a reality Air, Water and chemical free foods are the 3 basics for survival. But still if there is no more oil tomorrow, Those 3 items will not be under control to allow the masses to survive. Total chaos erupts world wide and Soy-lent Green and Cyborg come into reality.

Foolish muslim dog!
Civilised western nations are moving away from hydro carbons. We have developed cars that can run on hydrogen - essentially, water.
And we managed all that without the aid of an imam or a quran.
Your muslim brothers back home will be starving in 10 years. And I will personally oppose every humanitarian suggestion that we send aid. Your time is done. Dinosaurs, Dodo's, muslims!

LOL.
The difference in psychology between a muztard and a human always amazes me.
To a human, if the oil runs out - big deal, we'll invent new and better technologies.
To a muztard, if the oil runs out - civilisation will end, millions will die, we rejoice and give praise to allah. These wogs revel in hopes of the destruction of mankind. Sick evil satanic muztards.

Optimistic Visions of the World After the Oil Runs Out
Our whole economy and way of life is based on the idea of cheap petroleum. So what happens when the oil starts to run out? Most scenarios assume that it will be catastrophic — rioting in the streets, governments collapsing, Mel Gibson fighting guys with big mohawks.

Ask him where fossil fuels come from if you want a real good laugh!

His mental issues taint absolutely everything he thinks.
