Muslim website calls Hurricane Sandy "a divine slap ..."

A Toronto website that calls itself the “newsmagazine of the Islamic movement” has described the hurricane battering the northeast U.S. a “divine slap.”

In an un-bylined post, Crescent International, which often promotes the worldview of Iran’s repressive regime, called Hurricane Sandy “a divine slap on the face of arrogance” ...

Here on the Fundy coast of NB we got nothing. It only got a little windy, waves up a bit and I thought it would get worse throughout the day but it didn't. Main part of the storm went over into eastern Ontario and Quebec. Think we're only going to get some rain as the jetstream pushes it back this way east.(I watch the weather channel..lol)

We got the edge of it. Winds last night up to about 55-60 mph. Waves on Lake Michigan at about 33 feet. Here on Huron about 24 feet. A bunch of trees down, maybe 50k people lost power. No big deal. I've gone back to dreading winter.

Don't mention winter...lol. I was just outside on the patio wearing shorts and a t-shirt, it's that warm here tonight. But in 2 weeks I'll be up in northern BC where it is currently -14c and snow already down.

Wow, big waves. I know the Great Lakes can get very stormy, but that's almost North Atlantic stormy.

Yep. There is plenty of oil and gas in the US and more to be discovered and developed.

I read somewhere the other night that Canada's Athabaskan oil field alone could supply the US for a 100 yrs+. Underneath those oil sands in that one field is another 2 trillion barrels of oil but would require some diff technology to extract it. That oil field is just unbelievable in terms of scale, the employment it is producing etc. I'm glad I'm headed to BC instead of Ft. MacMurray Alberta though...Ft. Mac is crowded, expensive to live etc

Just here in NB is an estimated 97 trillion cubic feet of nat. gas reserves. The only problem right now is the public concern over fracking which is stalling any development.

The point is that Canada and the US togther have enormous oil and gas reserves.

The arabs will one day have nothing. No oil, just sand and angry imams.
