This determination is ridiculous on the part of the Anglican Church. Now they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. What they have managed to do is to introduce the previous catch-22 into their canonical law.

It is sort of Monty-Pythonish.

You can be a homosexual in a civil union. But, you cannot enjoy the intimate benefits of the union that you have sought to have legalized!- if you are to be a bishop.

Ridiculous. Straddling the experiential/theological fence to the point of obvious intellectual dishonesty.

Straddling the fence certainly puts pressure where it counts and is not too comfortable after some time.

They'll wise up after they see step one is a catch-22....

That would be the roman bunch.

Ask any roman how relevant to their daily lives Benny is, or the Curia, etc.....

I suppose you are right.

Monty Python cut [its] teeth in the gum of hilarious irony.

Perhaps they understand that exposure is a necessary part and step in the process.

When you deliberately disregard the teachings of Jesus, and teach what is bad is good, and what is good is bad, you know who your god is, and if you don't, it 's not the true God of the Bible. It's the god of your religion, the god of this world, as Jesus taught.
