TEC's war on its orthodox members

Feb 8, 2013 | Posted by: Joe DeCaro | Full story: www.virtueonline.org

To even the most impartial Episcopal observer and/or those suffering from peripheral blindness, the Episcopal Church's war on its orthodox members has reached new depths, unimaginable a few short years ago.

Politeness, civility, talk of via media or "why can't we all just get along" have vanished out the stain-glassed window; there is now no more pretense ...

"It is now open warfare in The Episcopal Church with some of the harshest language ever uttered from the lips of an ecclesiastical leader. Not even the venal and hateful John Shelby Spong, former Bishop of Newark, who tried his best to reinvent Christianity in his own mind, degenerated to the depths of the recent trip by PB Jefferts Schori ...

"Witness what PB Jefferts Schori said when she came to Charleston recently to inaugurate a new remnant Episcopal diocese. In her speech, she accused Bishop Lawrence (but did not mention him by name) of being a petty dictator and a wolf masquerading among the sheep."

PB Schori's lengthy litigations has made her sue-conscious.

With deference to her responsibilities during a very difficult period, I am sure that the job takes its toll. It did on Griswold. It did on the Archbishop. It does on the President of the U. S. You can see it on Obama.

People in those positions need regular vacations and they need to delegate.

I have no doubt that Lawrence is a tyrant, behind closed doors. In my opinion, considering the philosophy he is trying to defend, and the fact that he has to defend it contrary to the Spirit, it cannot be easy.

I remember walking past Bishop Gregory Venables after a Sunday service. His eyes had no light. They were like a doll's eyes.

I have also stood with Bishop Jefferts-Schori. She is a person full of Light and Life and not at all shy. Her Light is ebullient and tangibly unmistakable.

RevKen, get your head out of the sand. KJS is a theological nitwit and an administrative nightmare.
As long as TEC clergy and members deny the obvious, TEC will continue to nosedive. What TEC needs is a loving leader who knows the Bible and TEC teaching.
TEC does not have that in KJS.

BTW - if the job is too much for her, she should graciously step down.

Then why have so many Episcopalians left her harmonious "aura"?

Not enough evil in your own church?

Let's not forget the small group that he has:

"Only 31 of 74 parishes and missions in the Diocese have joined Lawrence's crusade against loyal Episcopalians"

Letter to the Editor -- Post & Courier

Response to Critics of January 26th Sermon by the Presiding Bishop

A recent letter (P & C, 2/1/13) excoriated Episcopal Presiding Bishop Katherine Jefferts Schori for a host of supposed transgressions, beginning with her “vindictive and mean-spirited language” in a sermon given January 26 to a convention of the Episcopal Church in South Carolina.

I want to assure your readers that I and the hundreds of loyal, God-fearing Episcopalians in attendance at that event heard no such language. We heard a profound, loving, inspirational call from the leader of our church for unity and comity in the face of a very painful rift. We heard a reasoned, nuanced warning from a Primate whose every action has been with the approval and blessing of the Constitution, Canons and duly sanctioned authority of the Episcopal Church to all those with whom we both agree and disagree on the perils of acting alone without consultation and, yes, inclusiveness of ideas and feelings from many sincere but differing perspectives.

We did not hear any personal reference to former SC diocesan bishop Mark Lawrence. The “allusion” the letter writer refers to is his own."

Although there's more than enough evil to go around this fallen world, it doesn't excuse what PB Schori is doing to TEC's more orthodox members.

You've GOT to be kidding!

These leaders and their followers decide that they cannot agree with the Church. So, they declare their independence and non-association, while at the same time declaring their ownership of the Church assets?... and then expect the Church from which they have absconded to just fork it all over?

Not going to happen that way. Some will get away with a lot of property and cash. Others, most likely a majority, will at the very least be required to give a full accounting. Then, and only then, will a division of assets be made.

In the meantime, those who have stolen the cash and assets while trying to put a happy face on, the secessionists like Lawrence, will be forced to spend from their bag of booty.

Who are YOU kidding, Ken?

Schori and her disciples declare war on TEC's orthodox members, so they leave, and in SC, they can leave with their own property.

Must be hard on you Joe..I mean to not be able to function as a man. To sit back and watch a WOMAN handle a situation. It is hard to accept that she is the LEADER of TEC. NOT YOU!

And that has exactly what to do with the fact the SC courts have upheld the Diocese's rights to its name as well as its property?

Are you the same Selecia with arrests in Georgia for assault, criminal violence, domestic violence and probation violation? If so, you are quite the epitomy of Southern womanhood.
