I attended Upland Christian for nine years and still have close communication with numerous people on that campus. It is so sad to see what is happening to this school that I grew up with. I know all three of them and they have been amazing people the whole time I've known them. I can't believe the way things are happening. I wish I knew more answers on why this is happening, it just makes me so sad.
GO EAGLES! Keepin' this school in my prayers...

We must stop the finger-pointing and dissention amongst ourselves as Christians! We must trust in God, not in man, for man will let us down every time. Paul wrote in 1st Corintians 11:17-22 about the ways in which we as a family are acting right now. We all need to read it and apply it here, right now.

Jesus himself pointed fingers at the money changers when they were doing ungodly things in the temple court. Sometimes it is very appropriate to call someone out. We need to honor our God with our responses, but we are not called to be lost sheep following wolves right into the den to be devoured...
I do trust in God, but this dissention was created and perpetuated by ungodly and unacceptable actions in a ministry situation, so I will not stop calling a spade a spade.

Mr. Chiappone was not restored to his former position - he is only being 'allowed' to teach his one AP class -- I suspect because the children would not earn their AP credits without a qualified teacher. Generous of Mr. C to return at all.

Has anyone yet publicly apologized to Mr. Porterfield or either of the Chiappones for so publicly firing them?

After watching the video of he first meeting with Doane, I think I understand his agenda -- he dropped the bomb that he has already closed two other schools in his district. If there are any other schools remaining in the distric, they'd better watch out.

For those who did not attend the meeting last night to introduce Dr. Kienel, Pastor Dan Keaton appologized for the disruption at the school that took place when Mr. Morse & Company came to do classroom inspections & lock changes during school hours. He said. "In hind sight, it was probably not the right thing to do." Then he apologized for the disruption to the school that happened last week week when Chip & Sue Chippone & Doug Porterfield were 'escorted' off the school property, again during school hours, AFTER an un-enveloped letter from the district secretary was handed out to evry student, teacher & faculty stating that these three GREAT people were no longer on staff. Again, he stated, "It was probabaly not the best way to handle the situation. We are not school administrators." I don't even think you guys even qualify as church administrators.
It must be incredibly difficult for you Pastor Keaton to come to these UCS campus meetings, by yourself. Thank you for your courage, but I do believe Dr. Doane should be the one to personally apologize to each and every student, parent, faculty & staff for these bad decisions he has made and the heartaches he has caused. We know he is the one giving the marching orders.
Welcome Dr. Kienel, your reputation proceeds you. I feel the UCS campus will opperate peacefully, now. I only wish you were here two months ago.
To Dr. Doane and the district advisory board, please give us a chance to save Upland Christian Schools as is. We do not want to be a Christian MEGA school!

Come out and support the Girls Varsity Volleyball Team and coach Doug Porterfield as they continue their quest in the Southern Section CIF Semi-finals against Bishop Conaty-Loretto High School. They will be playing tonight in the UCS gym at 7:00 p.m.
The CIF entrance fee is $7 for adults and
$5 for students/children -- ages birth to high school.
Bring your school spirit and cheer on the Lady Eagles to victory.

Anyone can find a bible verse to support nearly any position. That doesn't make the position correct... Wrong is wrong and should be pointed out and corrected whenever possible. If you have an evil man in a position of authority -- you should not blindly accept that authority.

Job 11:11 Surely he recognizes deceitful men;
and when he sees evil, does he not take note?

See... I can quote bible passages, too!

I'm confused. It was my understanding that escrow had NOT closed, and that an injunction still stands for the moment. If that is true, why is our superintendent reporting to Winter several times a day, and why are they proceeding with a merger of two schools when, at the moment, there is only one school on this campus?

Did something finalize that I don't know about?

Everyone note the big story on the team in the sports section this morning, too. This puts the entire mess into perspective.

A great big THANK YOU to Doug Porterfield, a man of integrity! We all love you! From the father of a future girl's varsity volleyball player and UCS graduate.

Well, "Confused" as far as we know escrow has not closed. Sounds a little fishy doesn't it. I believe from last nights meeting that Dr. Kienel is truly a godly man. However, I can't let the fact that Doane /Winters hired him to smooth the waters ease my concerns.

There is an injunction in place and they are not scheduled to meet in court or do anything until April '09 and all items/plaintiffs/defendants must be served by February '09 - I am not sure why the Anehiem District continues to act as though they have sold UCS to WCS, as there has not been a legal transaction completed.

Thanks UCS Parent. We've all been living under Doane's timeline. I'm glad to know he has a timeline of ours he has to deal with now!

Thanks for the clarification. I guess Doane figures since he is ultimately running the school at the moment, he can go ahead and integrate the two schools anyway. That seems like it could get messy. Two legally separate entities attempting to operate as one?

I guess that also means that WCS may just be invited over to use our facilities this winter as they had planned.

I am glad that the waters will be smoothed for our kids, but what a mess! I suppose they are going to open enrollment come Feb. with the injunction hanging in the balance and expect us to make decisions.

Obviously having a "Dr." in front of ones name does not make them a genius. "Dr." Doane has proven that.

Wow April 09- if Western loses and I hope they do
they will be in big bind.
They better be looking at a plan B for a high school.
This could take awhile and be very bumpy ride.

Well I certainly hope the entire situation is presented in an honest fashion to all prospective parents and students. It would greatly help to lose the gag orders and threats of lawsuits and behind fired. I'm not sure the district is up to a straightforward and honest approach but we can only hope and pray.

Just a thought... according to Pastor Keeton, if the district office was so overwhelmed by the shear number of questions being asked... how is it that just one person, Dr. Kienel, will be able to attempt the same task. Is this just another stall tactic by the district? Hmmmmm.
I don't know what everyone else is thinking, but the end of the first trimester is coming up and I need to make a huge decision regarding the future educstion of my child. Anyone have a plan "B" to consider during the Thanksgiving break?

I would encourage the school to offer a conditional registration for next year. So if the school does change hands the parents could be entitled to a refund of their registration if they chose to not attend WCS. If the school doesn't change hands the registration could then be treated as nonrefundable as in normal years. Just a thought.
