Over a year ago Doc and I played this judgement dual. He kept pulling up verse after verse, over 30 total, stating that a Christian could judge others. I never declared a Christian could not judge. I said exactly what the Bible says....a Christian is forbidden from judging non-Christians. As I expected,*all* the verses he quoted were about Christians judging other Christians, save one (1 Cor 6:2). The one about Christians judging non-Christians clearly states in the FUTURE we **shall** judge the world. Not now.<quoted text>
Do you even know what your Bible says about judging others?
"The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment." (Psa 37:30)
"With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth." (Psa 119:13)
"Open thy mouth, judge righteously, and plead the cause of the poor and needy." (Prov 31:9)
Jesus commended Simon, "Thou hast rightly judged." (Luke 7:43)
"Now, thou son of man, wilt thou judge, wilt thou judge the bloody city? Yea, thou shalt show her all her abominations." (Ezek 22:2)
"But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." (1 Cor 2:15)
"Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? And if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?" (1 Cor 6:2)
"Know ye not that we shall judge angels? How much more things that pertain to this life?" (1 Cor 6:3)
If there is a scripture that says a Christian may judge non-Christians, then that would be a biblical contradiction to 1 Corinthians 5:12-13. Paul was a disciple and he acknowledged that he was forbidden from judging those outside the church. If a disciple was forbidden, then that extrapolates to the rest of us are also forbidden from judging non-Christians.
1 Corinthians 5:12-13
12 What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13 God will judge those outside.Expel the wicked person from among you.
It can be *very difficult* to not judge non-Christians; however, God did not say to obey only the commandments that are easy for us. Christ said if you love me, then you will obey my commandments. No wiggle room there. Many simply do not want to put forth the effort that is required to do as God commands, yet they choose to profess Christ. That is between them and Him, and they are in good hands IMO.
Hope your weekend is going great!
