I think that the CoE should keep it's hands off of CIVIL Marriage, AND that CIVIL Law should keep it's grubby mitts off of the CoE.
Create an Insurmountable wall between church and State or in about a generation merry olde England could find itself fighting another sectarian civil war, with different factions trying to enthrone their own sects in the Laws of the Land.
For just Government of pluralistic Nation, it's laws must be the three monkeys with respect to religion ... plus a little.
Government must not see them, hear them, speak to them ... and DEFINTELY NOT fund them nor receive funds from them by any avenue whatsoever.
Some Christians just don't care that this is about civil marriages and that no one is seeking in any way to force churches to perform any marriage they don't want to.
IMO these same Christians really want to control the rights of other citizens based on their religious beliefs and not on the Freedoms we all share (or should share).
