I get it. You believe all of our English Bibles are error and you are right. The Truth of the matter is that you don't like what God said to you.
"the furnace of fire" "wailing"
Matthew 13:49-50 (NKJV)
49 So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come forth, separate the wicked from among the just, 50 and cast them into the furnace of fire. There will be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
It's not just the English Bible that contain errors - all of the transliterated texts do.

The original texts no longer exist, that is a fact. And another fact is that every single Bible in the world today is an altered version of the original.

This is an indisputable fact. Throughout the ages the people who copied the original texts added their own interpretations, left things out, and added new things that fit their theology.

Your faith is based on myth and legend, not fact.

Sorry I had to be the one to tell you, but it's true.

What? This has nothing to do with Biblical literacy.

If you believe that your soul has eyes and ears and the ability to think and feel emotions, then you should have no trouble describing exactly what your soul saw, heard, felt or thought at the moment it first entered your body.

If you can't describe that for me, in detail, then you'll prove that I'm right.

And if the soul cannot see, hear, think, or feel, then all your blather about heaven and hell is worthless.

Are you up to the challenge, or will you go down in flames just like every other idiotic Christian on this forum has done before you?

I guess my little can of cold air is more powerful than all the hot air in your entire bloated body.

Final score: Staples 1, Jesus 0.

I never claimed to be an expert. I do claim to be more knowledgeable than you about the history of the Bible, and I have a degree in Comparative Religion to prove it.

Then again, I don't even need the degree to prove I'm smarter than you - you weren't aware that Koine isn't anything like modern Greek, and ancient Hebrew isn't the same as modern Hebrew.

Two of the languages that the Bible was written in - ancient Hebrew and Koine Greek - are dead languages. And the third, Jewish Aramaic, is nearly dead as its practitioners live mostly in Israel and their dialect is being replaced with Hebrew.

I have about 150 books on religion in my home library, some of which I've read several times. In my collection are books like Frazer's "Golden Bough", the complete works of Joseph Campbell, and dozens of books on Christianity.

One of the best is "Christianity: An Ancient Egyptian Religion" by Ahmed Osman, which makes the best argument, in my opinion, for Christianity's pagan roots.

Your opinion is pretty much worthless as you've never read anything about religion outside of the Holy Babble. You can't possibly be objective, which is why you're an ignorant twerp.

You may think it's arrogant for me to declare my intellectual superiority over you, but according to most people posting on this thread it isn't arrogance - it's fact.

Hebrews 8:13 (NKJV)
13 In that He says, "A new covenant," He has made the first obsolete.
So, if I make a promise to repay to you a loan that you made to me, and I make a NEW promise to watch your dog when you go on vacation, I no longer have to repay the loan?

There can only be ONE covenant between God and man at a time? Really?

Since when has God ever used warnings, according to the Bible?

Genocides perpetrated by Hebrews?

Floods?

Pestilence?

Killing first-born sons?

Sending bears to kill kids?

But, more to the point: as soon as you can demonstrate that your God exists, you will begin to have a sound premise. Until then, Paul Bunyan and your God are on equal footing, and pretending otherwise is nothing more than wishful thinking.

Guess they never played the telephone whisper game in elementary school.

Gameplay

First, as many players as possible line up such that they can whisper to their immediate neighbors but not hear players any further away. A phrase will be told by the judges and the first player whispers it as quietly as possible to their neighbor. The neighbor then passes on the message to the next player to the best of their ability. The passing continues in this fashion until it reaches the player at the end of the line, who says to the judges the message he or she received.
The game has no winner: the entertainment comes from comparing the original and final messages. Intermediate messages may also be compared; some messages will become unrecognizable after only a few steps.
As well as providing amusement, the game can have educational value. It shows how easily information can become corrupted by indirect communication. The game has been used in schools to simulate the spread of gossip and its supposed harmful effects.

"One basic rule of thumb to remember is this: If your reading of the Bible completely confirms your pre-existing beliefs, you may well have projected those beliefs into Scripture. On the contrary, if you find that Scripture is challenging your assumptions and commitments, then you may well be in touch with its genuine meaning.

If we seek to discern Godís guidance correctly, our very way of seeing and thinking needs to be changed, and Scripture plays a leading role in this process. This is exactly what Paul urges upon us in Romans 12:

Donít be conformed to this world, but keep on being transformed through the renewing of your minds, so that you might discern what the will of God is, that which is good and pleasing and complete (Rom 12:2; my translation).

As our minds are made new through the work of the Spirit, we will be better equipped to determine Godís will for our lives. Notice that this transformation is an ongoing process, something Paul accentuates with his choice of Greek verb form:ďkeep on being transformed.Ē Such transformation begins in conversion and continues throughout our lives"

Yeah, I am quoting an Evangelical pastor here.

Just some food for thought for you, dollarsbill.
I, and most other posters, can see that you are getting out of the Bible what you want it to say and leaving God's Mercy, Love, Justice completely out of every one of your posts.
