If you don't believe why are you not a a atheist forum? It does not matter if you believe or not, that changes nothing about His Glory,Power and His Authority.

Were all ancient civilizations lying/making up stories when they said beings came to them?

I am convinced that this widespread concept of
God (especially by fundamentalist) does not exist. I don't know what God is. I believe there is something physically intangible that does exist. One can call that God if one wishes. I really think using the term God is a cop out. I prefer the "Great Spirit" label.
What is the Universe and it's purpose? This God thing is just an attempt to explain something that is totally incomprehensible for the human mind. those that say they know are just self deluded because of their fear and lack of self confidence. I don't understand how one's ego prevents them from admitting "I don't know".
Believing in something is just fine, if you ask me.

Chinese might be a stretch, Asian would be more accurate....to an extent.

Or, to put it another way, "You can't pop god into existence, by imagining him to exist!"

Now,... Don't you have some pudding to churn up, Ms Laci?

I rather think so, Mr Flygerian, ancient and modern,... all nations.
Lyin' comes easy and is naturally built into every intelligent mind.
It takes concentrated effort to tell the truth. It's easier and much more convenient to lie. Lies are probably the main cause of wars!
I doubt that anyone can build seats of power and control without lying or stretching the fabric of truth to his constituents and subjects.
the bible records on Israel and other nations is full of false promises and lies.
Jesus lied when he promised to return from the dead and bring in God's Kingdom to earth while his disciples were alive and kickin'.(Matt 26)
We love ease and convenience and lying serves those ideal very well!
Just some thoughts. I hope I'm wrong, but I hardly ever am.(lol)
Mxy
What would the different nations that allude to this happening (such as the Aztecs, Hebrews, Sumerians, Egyptians etc...) have to gain from "lying" about this as you say?

High Mr.Mxyzptlk?

You should read more than comic books.
That was Superman, krypton takes him out of action.

Nobody can take Jesus Christ, The Son of God, out of action.
Been tried and failed already.

"While our sins would have made it impossible for us to share in the life of God, Jesus Christ was sent to remove this obstacle. His death was a sacrifice for our sins.
Christ is "the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world" (Jn 1:29). Through his death and resurrection, he conquered sin and death and reconciled us to God.

Yes you can say it but I doubt you really believe it. That is why you are here to degrade the name of God. He has always been and will always be God.

If you are indeed here to discredit Him to me and others who love Him.......I agree with the other poster. You are wasting your time. Not going to happen. Get rid of Faith........never!

As long as people are willing to disregard facts and refuse to engage in logical thought, faith will continue to exist.

You need to give some reasons why you think God does not exist. You bear the burden also. One of your burdens is to show why belief in God is contrary to sound reason and the evidences for His existence are impossible.

I was at the Oakland fair last year and was talking to a guy I just met.. He told me, a guy told him, he saw a women levitate at the fair the year before....He said she levitated for 20 minutes while thousands of people watched other people in the audience pass a hoop through the area the women was levitating. This proved there were no fine wires holding her off the ground..

The probability of that supernatural event happening is much greater than the one where a human was said to have been resurrected (after being dead three days), 2,000~ years ago..The Gospels weren't even written until 75~years after this event was said to have happen..

The miracle witnessed in Oakland is much more believable because it only happened two years ago. Even still, a person has to be a few bubbles shy of a good fizz to believe either of them..If you want to believe in something, believe in a Deist entity that created the universe, it's much more likely..Deism also explains the contradictions all religions have when viewing reality as we go through life..All religions ignore reality if it conflicts with what there religion says is true..

We both know that modern day "magicians" can do all kinds of illusions. If these were not illusions science would be seeking to create new technologies.
For the resurrection of Christ we know that people were crucified and killed by it. The fact that there is excellent eyewitness accounts to His resurrection points to the fact that it did happen. The counter claims against it all break down at some point.

Do you believe in God? If God exist, could He raise the dead?

God raising the dead is not a contradiction if we have evidence that He did. It would be an impossibility of the dead rising if there is no God.

No, because there is no evidence for it, just hearsay as I describe in the analogy I gave you..Seventy five years of people telling people about an event, it's never the same as when it started out, or even close..

There is no evidence the power that created the universe has ever breached the laws of physics that controls it..This is what brought about Deism during the early years of the age of reason..

Hi again Ms Laci, It's been a while between chats.
So you do grant that we both are guessing in & out of darkness about any metaphysical notions. Thank you. The first step toward gaining knowledge of any mystery is an admission of ignorance! If everybody here started their posts with a pre-empt like, "I'm not sure", or "I don't know for sure,... but I think such-and-such...."!, wouldn't things be more productive and pleasant. Why, the world would be a paradise if everybody admitted, "I DON'T KNOW!", esp on such imaginative spiritual matters.
So, we see that we must strip away religious faith to get on the path of pure knowledge!
Your god is like a black cat. You can never find a black cat in a dark room,(try it)... especially if there is no cat; or, You really aren't sure about what color cat your god is, since you've never laid eyes upon him/her/it! Same be true of your bibliothecan scribes!
Study without reflection is a waste of time, reflection without study is dangerous - Confucius
Try it! In your next post, Ms Laci, start it out by saying, "I'm not positive, but I think that,... etc.!" It will attract people to you like delicious honey, but without the bee stings.
Mr Mxy
So you are admitting you are in the dark? I am in the light......I could find the black cat in the dark room, want to know how?
