One I had never heard until coming to topix:
"A true born again Christian is not a sinner any more. Only the unsaved are sinners."
They stated that since accepting Christ,*nothing* they do is considered sin any longer.
I agree with you. We're all sinners no matter what we accept. Unless a person lives with the bare necessities they are continually sinning as the Bible tells us to give to others less fortunate. Look at many Christians and Churches. They are anything but just holding their own. And that is just one example of how those that are Born Again continue to sin sometimes unaware. Christ never will own those who yield themselves up to be the servants of sin. And it is not enough that we cease to do evil, but we must learn to do well.
Until we are totally spiritual beings we remain of flesh, which is carnal, which sins. Indeed we do put off the old and on the new, but it will not be perfected in this world.
14 For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.
15 For that which I do I allow not: for what I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I.
18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.
17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.
So that ye cannot do the things that ye would. The Greek is not so strong as this. It implies that the two wills within us hinder us from doing as we would by their conflict.
