The Westboro Baptist Church loves to cross the line. I wonder how other Christians feel about these hate spreading crazies. I'm thinking tbey would agree these Westboro people give Christianity a bad name.

Our Apostle Paul says, "For there must also be factions among you, that those who are approved may be recognized among you." (1 Corinthians 11:19) So, God uses the wrong ones to serve His purpose, that they make the right ones look good. The Christians could tell the difference.

According to you, what is the purpose the Westboro Baptists are serving for God that make Chistians look good?

The WBC is not affiliated with any denomination. I doubt too many Christians give them much thought. As far as them giving Christianity a bad name; that's probably similar to the idea that Communism gives atheism a bad name.

<quoted text>The reality is this, I am betting that more members of the Westboro Baptist Church would have stood up for Christ. The gays have tried to silence Christians for years and they have done the same to the WBC. Some how gays want us to see the WBC as bad, when the gays have ActUp, BashBack and other gay groups who actually burn churches, attack Christians, and they are actually on the FBI hate crimes list. The WBC is not.
God does not hate gays, but then again, God hates homosexuality and He does not regard people as gay. Gays is simply a behavior known as sin. The WBC tells people who have chosen to be gay that they can change and become Christian, so in reality they are telling them that God does not hate them but hates the sin.

I do thank you, however for clarifying that the WBC got the bible wrong, since it clearly states that gays need to be put to death. As for gays silencing Christians, they surely did a good job of it as they were burnt alive for their sexual preference. I mean, do you even hear Christians spread hatred towards homosexuality? Of course not; Christians are the most tolerant of all groups. And I'm also sure the justice system is taking care of parents who let their children die by getting on their knees and praying instead of taking them to the hospital. Thank you again for your enlightenment on these subjects. Dick!

<quoted text>What do yo know about the WBC? Have you spoken with any members? Likely, all that you have heard comes from gays. Really. Gays judging Christians. I think not.
I've never spoken to any members that I'm aware of. My understanding is that they are completely independent of any denominational structure, therefore not accountable to any. That's one of the reasons I stated that many Christians, particularly Baptists would not feel too concerned about whatever public attention the WBC may be getting. Of course I don't know if there's been any issue made about the usage of the term "Baptist" by mainstream Baptists.

However, the main reason I don't think they cause too much concern for many Christians, is that Christians are primarily focused on their 'personal' accountability to God, vs. the opinion of men. That's certainly my major personal concern.

I think some tend to believe that Christians are more focused on our collective reputation.

From the little I know about them they certainly don't seem to come across as loving their neighbours as themselves.

Do you see as obscene, the act intruding on a family's grief as they bury a loved one? Do you or would you protest at a military funeral or any other funeral come to that? Do you think that such behaviour is acceptable? I don't believe that decent people would have any problem answering those questions and I am certain their answers would show the disgust they had for those who do such things. How about you?
