I ask this because I have heard 3 different answers and all 3 sides think they are correct and the truth.

1. Sabbath is from sunset Friday to Sunset Saturday.
- Goes by Gen 1:5 showing the Sabbath is a 24hr period and uses the example of taking the messiah off the cross because the Sabbath was approaching

2. Sabbath is from Sunrise Saturday morning to sunset Saturday night.
- Goes by the messiah saying are there not 12 hrs in a day and that God doesn't operate in darkness and when the sun rises on Saturday morning, it is now the Sabbath Day and that is what is to be observed.

3. Sabbath is from Midnight Friday night to midnight Saturday night.
- Goes by our time in which when its 12am its a new day, so from 12am Friday night to 12am Saturday night is 24 hrs of Saturday.

So which one is correct by biblical standards?

Ill go with choice number 1, as it makes the most sense.

*A) sunset to sun set is rarely 24hrs apart.
*A) scripture...please
3. Sabbath is from Midnight Friday night to midnight Saturday night.
- Goes by our time in which when its 12am its a new day, so from 12am Friday night to 12am Saturday night is 24 hrs of Saturday.
*A) why even throw this in?

John 9 14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay,
and opened his eyes.

15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.
He said unto them,
He put clay upon mine eyes,
and I washed,
and do see.

16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees,
This man is not of God,
because he keepeth not the sabbath day.
Others said,
How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
~~~~~~~~~~
Colossians 2:16
King James Version (KJV)
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat,
or in drink,
or in respect of an holyday,
or of the new moon,
or of the sabbath days:
~~~~~~~~~~

Romans 14 KJV 4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.

6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Yes this one is the correct one. The 7th day is the sabbath. And mornings (according to Genesis) are not the beginning of the day. You have your answer right there in scripture I dont think anything else matters.

What? Though I question Jesus saying that, he CLEARLY states that there are 12 hours in the day. Then goes on to speak about night. Like morning and evening?

This one changes the times.

Daniel 7:25
He will speak against the Most High and oppress his holy people and try to change the set times and the laws. The holy people will be delivered into his hands for a time, times and half a time.

To me, going by scripture the only one that makes sense is the first one. But thats not mentioning that the sabbath is AFTER 6 days of work. So if one worked say Monday-Saturday their sabbath would be Sunday.

In its context, that verse just meant to the Colossians, not to let anyone judge them for actually keeping Gods commandments by keeping the sabbath and the feats days.

Actually it means there are no Sabbath commands in the NT. Christians are not under the Law of Moses.

Actually there is a sabbath rest for the people of God..but it is understanding what the sabbath rest foreshadowed..

Many have assumed it means they are free to use it for their business expansion..greed

But the sabbath rest of God actually foreshadows more righteousness then even the Pharisees..

We are either under the Law of Moses or we are not. Christians are not.

We have the New Covenant.

Its in the new covenant that tells us Hebrews 4 [9]' So there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God"

[11] Let us do our utmost in entering that rest, for fear anyone should fall into the same pattern of disobedience'

As I shared, it is foreshadowed in the Law.

The Law was a shadow of the good things to come..

The sabbath day shadowed a greater truth..Jesus is called " lord of the Sabbath"

You're under the Law?

Exodus 31:15 (NKJV)
15 Work shall be done for six days, but the seventh is the Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death.

New covenant:

Jeremiah 31
33 “This is the covenant I will make with the people of Israel
after that time,” declares the Lord.
“I will put my law in their minds
and write it on their hearts.
I will be their God,
and they will be my people.

How can you be under the new covenant but not the law that was supposed to be written on your (well Israel/Judah/anyone else that chooses to attach themselves) mind and heart?

You conveniently skipped verse 32.

Jeremiah 31:32 (NKJV)
32 not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt,

Many Christians do not understand the new covenant..and think they can break law willy nilly..but Jesus actually fulfilled the Law, and we are to be in union with him..

They don't understand Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath..and that he is the way that brings in resting from our own works to do the will of God...and that is not just for one day , but a new life..
