It's much better than Explorer. Took me quite a while to give in and switch. Now they seem to want us to switch to Google Chrome and I can't get it to obey me at all, so I refuse. lol
I use Firefox but also have the option of explorer and google chrome. I have no idea which is the best or anything about installing these things but thankfully I know a man that does.

I agree that it is better, from what I understand all of the linux based software is "bug free", but you can bet your sweet paycheck that you will spend tons on microsoft and get all the bugs to come with it....LOL!
I'm like you, I really don't like google chrome.I literally chokes my computer down to thepoint of freezing it.

:) In all honesty, I avoid internet explorer like the plague. Download firefox with a few of the add ons (I use adblock plus, WOT, no script, etc) and AVG free antivirus, then you should be fine.

I had AVG, but it REALLY slowed my computer down, have you ever had a problem with that?

I've never had a problem with AVG, but I'm not a computer geek so don't take my advice as gospel. There could be better free software out there, but I'll let others confirm that for you. I bought a computer a few years back and the salesperson referred AVG to me. I haven't looked back since.

The things I've read up on google's (chrome) privacy rules concerned me. Any thoughts?

Google Chrome is taken from the open source browser Chromium, which does not have the security issues Chrome does. However, it's difficult to find a download link for a Windows version. I suggest you use this instead. It's a more secure build of Chromium.

No problem. Also, you might find the following extensions useful.

Abine Taco
Ghostery
Do Not Track Plus
Keep My Opt-Outs
Collusion
Disconnect.

You can get these from the Chrome web store.

+1. I'd like to check my work emails from home with one click on my phone.

Do you want Firefox to open rather than Explorer when you click on a link within an email ?
