I thought doing that would make you go blind?

The real judgment questions will be: Did you love God and did you love your neighbor as yourself. I don't think this issue comes into conflict with either of those two Commandments.
If you love and respect God the use of your sexual organs to self-gratify is wasting the seed God gave you to obey His command to "Be Fruitful and Multiply". It is disrespectful, and done for your personal desire not God's, and as such it is a sin.

So are you saying you never have?

that's also like saying you should only have sex with your wife if you're trying to have kids.

that has to sound unrealistic to you?

Does that mean that getting my tubes tied was a sin? What about a vasectomy?
Sex in itself is a self-gratifying act! Let's face it, once permenent birth control is applied, sex is all about personal desire.

The latest addition to the Creation Museum is a display talking about how before Adam's fall there were no wet dreams, let alone auto erotica.

Unrealistic Only to people who have grown dependent on 'jerking off'. The act is a sin, whether you happen to like doing it or not. Satan always enjoys when you enjoy sin. God made women desirable to men so they would have sex, and impregnate their wife. This is a fairly simple concept to understand.

Human behavior is supposed to be about pleasing God, not man.

I have never agreed with the concept{thinking about having sex with someone is the same as actually having sex with someone}.
if thinking about a sin was the same as doing the sin, nobody on this planet would get into heaven.
we are all sinners we are still sinners and we will continue to be sinners until we die or jesus returns .if it was possible to stop sinning then jesus wouldnt have needed to die on the cross.as more and more of my outward sins fall away more and more on the inside are revealed to me.as christians we have the holy spirit inside of us and sexual sin grieves him.when we bring another into our thoughts sexually then we are bringing grievance to the holy spirit apart from that for me as ive said if my husband fantasized about my best friend i would be deeply hurt as if the act had already been done.

Spoken like a true sexist! Like man is not desirable to the women so the women could enjoy sex.

2.do you think were only suppose to have sex with our wife's when we want them to get pregnant?

I really need to research this topic in the bible, but I wouldn't think that there is anything wrong with it, as long as, you are in the privacy of your own home. I agree with one of the other post- it should not be accompanied by pornography.

Why not? What's the difference between thinking "dirty thoughts" and seeing them played out?

That's your interpretation, and you're entitled to it. Like I said though, I haven't seen anything in The Bible that expressly condemns it.

Hi Brittle Fingers,

I personally don't think the act of "masturbation" is a sin, like I said, in the privacy of your own home. That doesn't have to be turned into the sinful act of watching porn. Some husbands or wives work out of town and only come home on weekends or every couple of weeks, Should it be sinful for them to please themselves? I don't know about you, but that sense of pleasure brings relief of stress. Maybe, I am wrong. If I am, then someone can let me know. I hope we can keep this an adult converstation and not turn it in to something else.

I agree with everything you said except about porn. To me, it's simply adult entertainment. There are consenting adults, nobody gets hurt, etc.

Hi Brittle Fingers,

My computer has been restricted at work, so I cant look up the bible verses ( like I could before ), but you shouldn't engage in any sexual act with another person unless you are married. Making, producing and publishing porn is a sinful act.

You've got to remember- what goes in- comes out. If you are feeding your brain with sinful thoughts, then sinful thoughts or acts will eventually come out. That's why I think that it is a sin to watch pornography.

This plays into the thought that having sex with your girlfriend or boyfriend is a sin, since you're not yet married. This also means that 99% of adults continuously sin.

Hi Brittle Fingers,

Yes, that is what I am saying, and Yes, Premarital sex is a sin. You have got to remember- we are all sinners, no one is perfect, but we will be accountable for our sins.

So then NO ONE should be having sex, unless you intend to produce offspring.
