What do you think it is about?

I think it's defined by

"Love thy neighbor as thyself."

And neighbor is explained as all humanity. I think you are describing religion, maybe?

All about the love of God (Supreme Being) and his love for his creations. Those who love God will love his son, Jesus the Christ and make every good effort to follow the teachings left to us from his son. To model our own lives after Jesus.

Jesus the Christ didn't just make stuff up. He loved the unloveable, reached the unreachable and loved even those who hated and betrayed him not by being a mean, nasty and vindictive son-of-a-gun, but by demonstrating the purest sense of love by his actions and with his words.

The message of Christianity is to truly aspire to be like Jesus the Christ while on this earth and to follow his teachings which were taught with love and compassion.

I also believe Jesus was a very cool guy and liked to laugh and joke around (within reason), too. He not only could see the best in people, but he brought out the best in people.

It is sad to say that there is some truth to what you say, but that's not the mentality of Christianity in general. At least I pray not.

Exactly!

Mat 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Mat 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Mat 22:39 And the second [is] like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Mat 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Thankfully, Topix is about from reality as anything can get :). I do see what you referred to some in real life, but not as prevalent as it is here in Topixland.

Actually I think Topix IS a good representation of the Christian hate, we're special and you're not, and FEAR driven mentality. Just that in public they hide their true feelings. While here the Christians feel free to say what they really think. And it sure ain't pretty.

That, sadly, is a possibility. I just *hope* it is not reality.

I must say, that, as a Christian, I was shocked and appalled by things written and expressed by others professing also to be Christians - I still am! And I experienced how vile, nasty and vindictive they can be first hand merely because I did not subscribe to the same exact train of thought as they expected.

But I have encountered many wonderful people while here in Topix Christendom which is on eof the reasons I can't seem to stay away altogether. lol

My philosophy, learned from the teachings of Christ, is to live peaceably with all men as much as possibly lies within me.

Rom 12:18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.

I much prefer a peaceful atmosphere than a hostile one.

Howdy! I was thinking of you the other day! How is the kiddo these days? And you?

And is the fig wine ready yet? I think it was fig ... something you were experimenting with ...

Love you!

I thought that was pretty cool. I don't go to a parish church, though, I go to misson church.

Sunday's Gospel was from Mark 12, the two greatest commandments, and padre pointed out that Jesus Christ is not 'up there' somewhere but He is in your neighbors, in the broadest sense of the word.

The Lord is my light and my salvation.

Howdy, I was thinking about you last week! Hope all is well with you and yours :). Kiddo is on an upswing from a short illness, but all is good now :).

Figgy wine came out smooth and good. The watermelon wine was not so fortunate LOL. The watermelon was turning and I was not aware, so it has an odd fermented/bitter flavor, but I hear it will be good for cooking regardless :). Eight weeks of work later AND 8 months of aging and I have funky cooking wine LOL. Live and learn!!

God bless you and yours.
