This thread is the "Christian Forum's" Poet's Corner!

Got a Christian or AntiChristian poem that you'd love to share?
Post it here, in full array, unfettered, stripped to it underwear!

Let us begin with this original ditty that I have composed just for you:

"Go to Church"
by Mr. Mxyzptlk

Our dreams are our children, born from repose,
Gleaming with gild, and raise on "SUPPOSE."

Let's design us a God, let's create a Creator,
Let him stand on a pod, with name and a waiter.

We must plant him real firm, wouldn't das't let him totter,
Long-extant and long-termed, we'll be Clay, he'll be Potter.

With one wave of his hand, the whole world did he make,
Sun-Moon-Stars, Sea-Sky-Land, all unfurled on First Take!

Then as ages roll by, many legends we'll grow,
Of GOD-PIES in our skies, with a pretty rainbow.

On these platforms we'll stand, and we'll build many churches,
All pasty, all white, built from cedars and birches.

We'll write hymnals and sermons, so chantey and haunting,
We'll have strict Moral Codes, with dis'plines undaunting.

We'll shepherd our flocks, with lethargical lulling,
With Masses and Incense, and Social so dulling.

And if one should awake, from our Devilish intake,
If his spirit won't break, he'll turn crisp on the stake.

It's our task to enforce upon all these beginners,
Upon every Free Soul that their born wretched sinners.

To the God we designed, every soul must be liable,
Let the Cross be our Sign, and our guns be the Bible.

And, by God, in due time, ALL the Earth we'll compel,
"Bow your bod', lose your mind, Go to Church, or to Hell!

Trip on this, Homie. I just got back from Mass where they asked me to read the first reading from the book of Joshua, probably because I look like I can read.

It's not a big deal since there were only 12 people there, not counting Padre Francisco. The Saturday Mass is 'en ingles'. Notice the lower case 'i'.
For English, press '2'.

Tomorrow's Mass will be 'en Español' and there will be 250 people in a church that seats 200. I'll be there.

I sure will. I don't know that you are especially needy in any way so I'll just ask God to shower blessings on you and your family.

Yeah, I guess they have a Mass Saturday evening for those that do need to work on Sunday.

They had this young lady read the second reading and I know there's some kind of protocol where we remain standing until the reaadings are dpme, which I did, and when the young lady finished her reading I said 'I think we're sopposed to bow now' and she bowed to me. I just kind of laughed but I wish I had blurted out 'Maybe next week we should bow to the altar, less chance of banging our heads that way'. I'll be sure to mention it next week.

You know, I could have you a special intention of a Mass but I'm not sure how well 'Nick Danger' would go over. Of course I could translate it into Spanish and no one would be the wiser and you'd have 250 people praying for you instead of just me.

I've come to the conclusion that you really have a kind heart, 15th. Glad you are continuing on your spiritual journey....

Hi, Stedfast.

I love you to pieces. You are one of three strict Bible-only Christians that I hold in high regard.

I come down on them pretty hard but you need not be offended. Your strong faith will probably carry the day forever.

Sadly, Mr ND, Your post earns a big (({{{GONG}}})).
It's a non-prosaic, falsely concieved platitude...

"MAGGIE'S DRAWERS" for you, since your triteful comment completely misses the thread's poetic theme and intent; .. but, worse... it's a dry, bare-boned and unreal poke.

Here, let's put some meat on its bones, and say it again, but with truthful, and meaningful vibrations:

"SALVATION HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH REALITY!!"

Voila!,...
Now, put that way, your platitudinous remark would'a earned you a cuddly Teddy!

Exit the stage, please, Mr ND.

This is the poem of a man disgusted with
his Baptist Christian upbringing;
looking back at it and laughing,
but then looking forward and deciding.

"Faith" by G J Dillon

As I walk into the Temple of Lies and Deceit I feel a hatred, burning and deep,
I desecrate this place in the name of "No Faith",
Because it's all the same, they just change the names.

It's killed more people than cancer, It's destroyed more cultures than the plague,
People searching for the answer kill millions for a crazed idea, no matter how vague.

Brainwash your children to race to their graves,
Praise the Lord in Opiate Mass, better than the rest, because you are "Saved";

But everyone has cemetery gates to pass, their answer is different so, they must be killed; What the hell was the question? Don't question him, or his prophecy shall be fulfilled.

Will you die for something you cannot prove,
Fearing a punishment that might not exist?
Blame your faults on a man with horn and hoove?
Your holiness is a lie and your lamb bears a cyst.

You're drawn like a fly to the light of salvation, as it gleams,
But then you realize as you die, that nothing is what it seems.

According to the bible, God killed 2,391,421 people and Satan only killed 10.

Anyone think that we could be following the wrong guy?

"The shortness of man's life is the punishment for man's sin;
And, the fact that even on the very threshold of the light,
Death constantly overtakes the new-born child, PROVES,..
that the times are continually sinking into deeper depravity." - Saint Jerome, Confessor, Doctor of the Church.(died 420)

"Oh, you and I are not of one faith; Therefore,
I think that I should offend God if I should pray with you." - Saint Luke Kirby, Priest and Martyr (died 1582)

Said to a group of Protestant ministers when they asked him to pray with them on his way to be hanged at Tyburn.

so since pre-420 we've been sinking?

Isn't this what every generation claims? Clearly we float damn well.

Hi Punisher,

Yep, so it seems. But only true in essence from the Renaissance on, when freedom from religion really started to climb out of the cave (closet).

Freedom does have a great lilting, floating feel and affect on us. Look at human progress in just these few centuries of (relative) religious and political freedom.

"But for the heavy drag on human progress by religious oppression, it's not so far-fetched for me to guess that Christopher Columbus would have explored the moon!" - Carl Sagan

Here's a couple wise sayings that I just made up:

"O ye of little faith,.... get rid of it!" - Book of Halucidation 3:$4

"If ye have faith the size of a mustard seed,....
Ya can't move sh1t with it!" - Book of Reality 100%

There's more,... but that'll have to do for now, folk!

This poem was published in 1907 by Stefan George, an Arch-Conservative German poet.

He is best known as the friend and mentor of Claus Schenk von Stauffenburg, whose attempt to kill Hitler and overthrow the Nazis was recently depicted in the film "Valkyrie."

Stauffenburg frequently quoted this poem in the lead up to the attempt on Hitler's life.

"The Anti-Christ" by Stefan George

He comes from the mountain, he stands in the grove!
Our own eyes have seen it: the wine that he wove
From water, the corpses he wakens.

O could you but hear it, at midnight my laugh:
My hour is striking; come step in my trap;
Now into my net stream the fishes.

The masses mass madder, both numbskull and sage;
They root up the arbours, they trample the grain;
Make way for the new Resurrected.

I’ll do for you everything heaven can do.
A hair-breadth is lacking – your gape too confused
To sense that your senses are stricken.

I make it all facile, the rare and the earned;
Here’s something like gold (I create it from dirt)
And something like scent, sap, and spices –

And what the great prophet himself never dared:
The art without sowing to reap out of air
The powers still lying fallow.

The Lord of the Flies is expanding his Reich;
All treasures, all blessings are swelling his might ...
Down, down with the handful who doubt him!

Cheer louder, you dupes of the ambush of hell;
What’s left of life-essence, you squander its spells
And only on doomsday feel paupered.

You’ll hang out your tongues, but the trough has been drained;
You’ll panic like cattle whose farm is ablaze ...
And dreadful the blast of the trumpet.
