Lancelot was the premier knight of King Arthur in the magical kingdom of Camelot.

Mordred was Arthur's illegitimate son and swore to usurp his father's majestic kingdom for his personal pursuit of power.

Lancelot betrayed Arthur as did Mordred. However, Lancelot pledged to make amends by helping Arthur in an unusual campaign which nevertheless resulted in Arthur's death. This battle also saw the death of the fearsome Mordred.

Many believe that Lancelot and Mordred are character foils in the story arc of Camelot, depicted in many stories, textbooks, and movies.

Lancelot represents republican romanticism and redemption while Mordred represents nihilism and ambition. While Mordred is not clearly evil, Lancelot is not clearly good. However, Mordred and Lancelot can be paired iconically as good-evil character foils.

In today's video game market, animated themes of warfare celebrate the might of courageous men and in this atmosphere, Mordred can serve as a nice idol of determination and bravado. However, more classic video games do explore the nice hero worship involved with valiant but redeemably affable characters such as Lancelot.

The evocative video game "Battle-Axe" (Genesis) would serve as a nice example of an entertainment model that could be extrapolated to characterize both Lancelot and Mordred as parallel same-story civilization pillars.

Are they printing movie posters on hemp/recycled paper yet?

God bless!

Actually, the correct video game here is "Golden Axe" (Genesis) not "Battle-Axe."

"Golden Axe" is a side-scrolling, beat 'em up, hack and slash arcade video game released in 1989 by Sega for the System 16-B arcade hardware. It is the first game in the Golden Axe series (source: Wikipedia).

Makoto Uchida was the primary developer of the game and also was responsible for the creation of Altered Beast. Several ports of the game were created, most notably for the Mega Drive/Genesis and Master System (source: Wikipedia).

"Golden Axe" (Genesis) involves three mighty warriors, a barbarian, an amazon woman, and a mighty dwarf who journey through fantastic lands battling demon-like monsters and gods.

"Golden Axe" (Genesis) was voted number 60 in the "Your Sinclair Readers' Top 100 Games of All Time."
