Christianity is as much based on culture as it is on dogma. Christian culture is rooted in the belief that you're better than everyone else. That because Christians are forgiven, they are "washed in the blood of the lamb". They are chosen, going to Heaven, while the rest of us are going to burn in Hell. Christians are "morally superior" to the rest of us because "God is on their side" and the rest of us are "tools of Satan" we are "unclean" and we are "evil" while they are "clean" and "good". They believe the bottom line is, "we're good, they're evil" and therefore the rest of us are below subhuman heathens. And they will tell you this to your face. And it's ok if they do it, but is someone says that "Christianity is a cult for weak minded people" -- My God! You're persecuting Christ!

Since Christians are the chosen ones and they speak for God, then what they believe defines what it "moral" and what is "immoral". This having little to do with actual ethics, but there is some overlap. Murder is generally considered a bad thing in all cultures. Atheists and Realists agree with that. But sex is considered immoral outside the context of Christian marriage, an in the case of Catholics, outside the context of reproduction. Sex is not a form of amusement to Catholics and is look upon as a necessary evil to repopulate the planet. Birth control is also considered a sin to many Christian cults. Christian fail to realize that if sex were limited to the context of Christianity, the human race would have become extinct, which would however eliminate sin and keep God from getting pissed off.

Christian go to church mostly for the purpose of reinforcing their beliefs in their own self-righteousness and moral superiority. There they can show off their "faith" in front of their fellow worshipers and participate in cult membership rituals so that they can feel secure that they are an accepted member of their tribe. It allows them to reaffirm their beliefs through mutual ego masturbation, where members reaffirm to each other that they are God's chosen few. People speak in gibberish (tongues) and tell stories of miracles that never happen. It's pretty scary stuff when you realize that these people a really sharing a mass mental illness ritual that is further separating them from the real world and causing them to believe things and behave in ways that have no basis in reality whatsoever.

Why do you think you are so much better than Christians? I am a Christian TRYING to follow the Christ. Failing at times but trying. I, by myself am in no way better than you. The only difference between us is I believe and you don't.

I actually think for myself and form my own opinions. I don't need a book written centuries ago to tell me what's right and what's wrong. Christians like you buy into the sheep mentality, where they need to be told what to believe. I guess the main difference between us is that I'm a free-thinker, you're not.

Hello

"I, by myself am in no way better than you. The only difference between us is I believe and you don't."

That is the single most rational thing I've ever heard you say...

Thank you !!!

Hmmmm, let's see. Do you think it's wrong to murder? Do you think it's
wrong to steal? Do you think it's wrong to treat your neighbor badly? Especially for no reason? Do you think it's wrong to lie? Do you think it's wrong to abuse children? Now, if you DO think all of that is wrong, which you do I hope, did you come up with that realization all by yourself? With NO outside considerations whatsoever? Are you really THAT much of a free thinker that you made up all those feelings against these things all by yourself? Or maybe it's because it's against the law to murder and steal and lie (especially in court,) and abuse children? Does it take a LAW to make you NOT do these things? I don't think you are as much a free thinker as you think you are.

That's what I've always said. I don't think you will find a post where I put myself above anyone. I leave that to you guys. Actually all I've ever done is post scripturally sound statements... using perhaps too raw a language sometimes. And I've alswys said prove me wrong,,,, SCRIPTURALLY. And the only ones who have tried to prove me wrong is other Christians. lol Go figger.

I dont feel that I am better than anyone else.
In fact the reason I became a Christian is because I recognised that I wasn't good enough and never would be.
Even Paul, whom we tend to look up to as an example, didn't rate himself, describing himself as "The chief of sinners."

Hello

Wayne..

I understand what you are saying..

All we can do is agree to disagree on the bible...

You have your point of view on the events, as do I. I surely don't want to try and take that away from you...

I just think we all could do a little better towards equality for all humans...

So you're saying only christians came up with these things, and nobody ever thought it would be bad to murder, steal, lie and treat people badly and these concepts never existed in any society before?

But let's go through them one by one. Would I murder if not for christianity? No, I don't need a bible to tell me ending another person's life is bad. I was born with a little something called common sense. Same with stealing. I don't steal from people because I don't want people taking my things. I don't like to lie because I expect people to tell me the truth, so I should give them the same courtesy. I don't treat my neighbors badly because they never did anything wrong to me. I don't abuse children because I have no desire to abuse them, and because they can't defend themselves. All of these are beliefs any sensible person would have arrived at, whether they lived among christians or atheists.

So,,, you are saying do unto others as you would have them do unto you? Hmmmm, where have I heard THAT before? No matter how much you run you can't get away from God.

That's a universal concept, around long before christianity was ever invented. We treat others as we would like to be treated as a means for survival. I'm sure it didn't even take the cavemen long to figure this one out.

Nope, wrong again. The pagans sacrificed their own children to their deities. The pagan world was a very brutal place. Deny that? Did "Do unto others" come from them?
