In v33 Jesus added that the price we must be WILLING to pay as his discipe is to forsake all that we have. HE WAS NOT GIVING ANOTHER COMMANDMENT!

Note that Jesus is not teaching a blanket requirement that all disciples must give up all possessions or that it is a sin for Christians to own property. THAT WOULD MEAN THAT THE SUDDENLY WEALTHY POOR COULD NEVER BE HIS DISCIPLE UNLESS THEY GAVE EVERYTHING BACK!

Many other passages show disciples who were acceptable though they owned property. Zacchaeus was accepted by Jesus when he committed to give ONLY HALF his goods to the poor (Luke 19:1-10).

Just as we are not literally required to "hate" our family members, so we may not be literally required to give up all possessions.

But, while we may not have to give up all possessions, there is a real warning here for us. We must not be so attached to our possessions that we would not be WILLING to give them up for the Lord (Luke 14:33; Matt. 6:19-33). If we are so attached, then we are not true disciples.

I obeyed this commandment.

Luke, Chapter 14, 33: So likewise, whosoever he be of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

JESUS WASN'T GIVING A NEW COMMANDMENT!

What did he mean by 'forsaketh', just after he told everyone to hate their mother and father?
was he speaking literally, or just warning people of the high cost of discipleship and telling people to put him first in value!!!!!

YOU LYING PIECE OF SCHITT!!!!!!!
Why was my life spared after I nearly died in 1987.
I remember watching a nurse tending to my body on a hospital bed WITH SOMEONE ELSE WHO SENT ME BACK!

FOREAKETH does not mean sell to the poor and and go without making them unworthy of Heaven!!!!!!!!

IT MEANS DON'T PUT ANYTHING BEFORE JESUS, WHICH I DON'T!

Loyalty to Jesus Christ and God the Father must be above even the highest loyalties of earthly love, that is, all our love of self must be subordinate to our love for God, who must be first in our life.

JESUS IS NOT ORDERING US TO STOP LOVING OUR FAMILIES AND STOP OWNING EARTHLY THINGS!

"Renounce", here, does not mean "giving up all one's possessions, and leading a mendicant lifestyle". It means, "do not allow your possessions to become more important or valuable than Me in your lives."

He is saying here that you cannot allow anything or anyone to get in the way of your relationship with Him.

It is a commandment.

And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.
And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.
And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

It is a commandment.

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece.

Are we all commanded to be 'fishers of men'?
'THOU SHALT BE FISHER'S OF MEN'!

Do we all have to leave our nets?
