Although I don't believe in any religious god let alone their 'scriptures', never the less I am a spiritual person and by that I mean I am aware that there exists n me a 'presence' a connection to the universe pulse.

I don't pretend to understand it, I sometime gets close but then just when I think I understand it I get lost in the infinity of it all....

Descartes a few hundred years ago concluded the only thing that he could be certain of was that fact that he existed... why?

Because he reasoned and then he penned these famous words "I think therefore I am'... of course he was wrong...

It was not Descartes' thoughts that proved his existence, rather it was the awareness behind his thoughts, the 'presence' or the energy that exist in every one of us and it is this awareness that I link to spirituality.

For example at night when we dream..... it is our brain processing thought that is the dream, but then there is an awareness beyond that, the part of us that knows that we are dreaming.

Unfortunately the human race, at least the majority of the human race exists n a sort of auto pilot where we let our thoughts become our reality and as such at 3.00am in the morning in a warm bed we can allow our brain to bring on an anxiety attack or make us depressed and when you think about it, we are allowing a 'mind movie' to interfere with our physical being.

Sure the subject of our thoughts may be real, as in we are going through a break up, have lost our job etc, but there and then, at 3.00 am in the morning and our pulse hastens and we begin to feel fear and ill....That is in response to thoughts... not reality..

So I would suspect that most people that read and write on this forum and other such forums, whether atheist or religionist, do so because of our spiritual side. Until the end of September I'm so busy with tax that I don't have time to read and write and I miss having that spiritual input....

I would like to suggest a book to read.... probably most of you have already read the book or at least know of it or the author's other books because it has been around for quite a few years, but for those of you that don't know of it...

The book is called 'A New Earth' and it is written by Eckhart Tolle... It will insult your atheistic intelligence nor your religious faith, he just simply and concisely explains the insanity that plagues the human race and is the cause for our dysfunction.....

Have a read of it.... it will change the way you think or more correctly put you back in the driver's seat rather than you existing on auto pilot....

God says he is creating a new heaven and a new earth.

So its a new creation not an old creation, that is going to inherit.

And everyone in union with Christ is a new creation.

Because unless anyone is born of spirit and water he can not enter the kingdom of God.'

The kingdom of God is for priests and Kinks to rule over the earth.

Revelation 1:6
Darby Translation (DARBY)
6 and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father: to him [be] the glory and the might to the ages of ages. Amen.

Revelation 5:9-10
Darby Translation (DARBY)
9 And they sing a new song, saying, Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open its seals; because thou hast been slain, and hast redeemed to God, by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation,

10 and made them to our God kings and priests; and they shall reign over the earth.

Revelation 20:6
Darby Translation (DARBY)
6 Blessed and holy he who has part in the first resurrection: over these the second death has no power; but they shall be priests of God and of the Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

I hope there's dogs and other critters, too......and lawns to mow.

Nothing like the rich chlorophylle smell of a new mown lawn.
Even the dogs love it, that's why they roll all over it smiling.

Even you just sit there smiling, watching in silence and then....you realize......God is in the silence, everything else is just noise.

You are talking about the ranking in resurrection..but the same standard applies to all Christians..whatever 'rank'

Scripture states that the Kingdom of God will become a large mountain that will fill the whole earth...and only those born again of spirit and water will enter her

As scripture states in rev ' those who wash their robes will be given authority to enter the 'city' by its gates'

And as the old creation is doomed to futility..no old creation will make it into the new earth ...For God is making all things new.

And those in union with Christ are a new creation...old things have passed away , new things are being created.

Dogs and other critters would be nice, but I'm not sure about the lawn mowing. Maybe you could mow mine when you mow yours. And about those smiling dogs, I don't think I've ever seen a dog smile, although I'm sure they do.

Sure, I love driving my Deere over a lawn.
I am my brother's keeper.

A man died and went to a room.
The angel came and got him and led him down a hall.
He saw the heaven and hell signs over each door, but when he looked in the windows and saw the the people it looked nearly the same.

People were all cramped over a bowl of food, they couldn't reach the spoon in their hand to their mouths.

But the folks in the heaven room were smiling and well fed.

Then he realized the difference.
While the people in hell were fighting to feed their own face,
The people in the heaven room had learned how to feed each other.

Hhmmm.?

ps:pay more attention to your Dogs.
They're smiling at you. Smile back. ;)

Thank you for this contribution to the endless discussions here.

“A new world” might be a metaphor, because to my opinion we need a change of human mentality, instead of going by everyday logics mixed with a dash from some old ideology or religion we need to have a whole new way of thinking.

And our mentality is firmly linked to our biology; it isn’t that easy to change.

Changing a whole society will take generations; we have seen how dangerous it is trying to change things fast, by some sort of revolution linked to some ideology without firm roots within the population.

Truly to change the biological linked mentality of humans would take many generations, thousands of years, and by then there might not be any humans left (or any life at all), on this planet.

The only way there is some hope for us is to understand by logics and by accepting logically that certain ways of behaviour are necessary for our survival.

Excellent food for thought! Human beings (in so far as we know) are the only beings capable of contemplating ourselves and the nature of our own existence.

"Being capable of contemplating ourselves and the nature of our own existence."

Nice gift to mankind given by God that separates us from the common beast.
A mind like that can't be evolved from a lower specie.

Man is so attached to form, the physical our ego that we can't just 'accept'..

No we have to attach a physical form to everything or as in your statement above.....

Instead of just accepting that we have the ability to contemplate ourselves, you need a being to link yourself to..

And so once again... man has created god(s) in his own image...

When you do what you have above.... when you have the faith that you have in 'god', you actually remove yourself from the universal energy that has always existed....

The truth is that we and every particle of matter in existence (forgive my reference if it is unscientific for while I respect science immensely it is not my forte)...

But again, we are actual units of the same universal energy that has always existed, that went bang and began the expansion of the universe, and why we exist in this present form instead of star of some other life form> Who knows and who cares....

But the religious cannot accept this information for it is too amazing too grand to universal'... in short too wonderful.

So instead we go along with others, primitive others that rather than accept this truth would rather invent the 'gods' and instead of being who we are, we prefer to serve a figment of the human mind.

Madness..... and when we look at history, madness on a global scale.

Why not? When things evolve each step is an improvement on the previous one.

God is going to recreate the heavens and the earth. He has done this before, the ice ages and Noahs flood. This time, it will be purged by fire. There won't literally be a new earth. And Jerusalem will not come out of the sky, that is a fairy tale and a Christian myth. There is a reward for the righteous and they have hope in their death. The meek shall inherit the earth.

There is but one God, He is God. He is not a product of your religion. Your religion is a product of denying His Son, Jesus, which is the only way to God.
