Are there any Christians here who actually keep the Sabbath on Saturday and are not a 7th day Adventist?

If so how do you go about keeping the day?

That would be the Jewish Sabbath...

If you have ever dealt with any camera / electronics stores in NYC, you'll note that none of them are open Saturday, but open Sunday...

THat's because they are owned by Jews...

I never really pass through NYC on Sat anymore, but i never really noticed.

I ask because there is no such thing as a Jewish Sabbath or Christian Sabbath, just the 7th day that is Saturday. I myself worship Sunday, but see so many arguments that Christians need to keep the original sabbath, but how does one go about that now. If you follow the bible you cant do literally anything on that day.

You can read the Bible, have Bible discussions, fellowship with those already in your house or within walking distance, spend time in quite introspection, and rest.

These are the things you may not do:

The 39 Prohibited Activities

As based on the Mishnah Tractate Shabbat 7:2, the 39 activities are:

Sowing
Plowing
Reaping
Binding sheaves
Threshing
Winnowing
Selecting
Grinding
Sifting
Kneading
Baking
Shearing wool
Washing wool
Beating wool
Dyeing wool
Spinning
Weaving
Making two loops
Weaving two threads
Separating two threads
Tying
Untying
Sewing stitches
Tearing
Trapping
Slaughtering
Flaying
Tanning
Scraping hide
Marking hides
Cutting hide to shape
Writing two or more letters
Erasing two or more letters
Building
Demolishing
Extinguishing a fire
Kindling a fire
Putting the finishing touch on an object
Transporting an object between a private domain and the public domain, or for a distance of 4 cubits within the public domain.

No one I have ever meet keeps the Sabbath as the Bible states it is to be kept, but some set aside a day for rest.

God bless.

No, you need not pretend those things do not exist. There are many differing opinions on this subject.

Legalistically, many feel you are not to use any utilities, drive, do any work, and you are not to require another to work. Liberally, many feel their is no issue with using electricity, or with driving.

I was reading an article about a woman who was pregnant and was worried about going into labor on the Sabbath. They had some recommendations that are foreign to me, but I was glad to have expanded my knowledge on the subject.

Do your own research on the subject. Study what the Bible has to say on the subject. Then, observe the Sabbath as the Holy Spirit convicts you to do so.

God bless.

REAL Christians are under grace not the law. The scriptures are crystal clear on this matter.

Not one person can ever obey the law because if we violate even one minor thing we are guilty of all the law.

James 2:10- For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

Hebrews 8:13- In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.
----------
----------

Galatians 3:24-25
24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
Romans 6:14- For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
----------

Romans 7:4- Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.
----------

Romans 7:6- But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
----------

Colossians 2:14- Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Jesus and the Sabbath:

==========
Luke 13:10-17
10 And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

11 And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself.

12 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity.

13 And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.

14 And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the sabbath day.

15 The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering?

16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

17 And when he had said these things, all his adversaries were ashamed: and all the people rejoiced for all the glorious things that were done by him.

==========

Mark 2:23-28
23 And it came to pass, that he went through the corn fields on the sabbath day; and his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears of corn.

24 And the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do they on the sabbath day that which is not lawful?

25 And he said unto them, Have ye never read what David did, when he had need, and was an hungred, he, and they that were with him?

26 How he went into the house of God in the days of Abiathar the high priest, and did eat the shewbread, which is not lawful to eat but for the priests, and gave also to them which were with him?

27 And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:

28 Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.

The Bible and Jesus were abundantly clear. A Christian is to *OBEY* Christ and not abuse grace:

John 14:15-17

15 “If you love me, you will obey my commands. 16 I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper[b] to be with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it does not see him or know him. But you know him, because he lives with you and he will be in you.

Romans 6:1-2

1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

I agree with you completely about not abusing grace! Although no REAL Christian that is truly saved will even want to abuse grace. Still grace will ALWAYS abound over sin.
----------
Romans 5:20-21
20 Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

21 That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.

All the research ive done pretty much points to the church still should be observing the Sabbath considering the apostles were still observing it after Christ death, but we have the Church in Rome to thank for destroying Christianity and why we do what we do now whether is Sunday worship, holidays, etc. We cant turn back the hands of time, so i go with the flow.

But it is almost impossible to do nothing on a Saturday now with the way our society is set up as Sunday is the day of rest. If I need my car worked on the dealers are closed Sunday, the banks are closed Sunday and many other places are not open on Sunday, so Saturday is the best day for me.

I dont serious think God is going to punish 2 billion Christians for Sunday worship though. Most scriptures I see always says The Sabbaths were given to Israel as a sign between them and God under the Mosaic covenant that seals them, and the sign of the New Covenant is the blood of Jesus and were sealed by the Holy Spirit. Yet many still say Christianity is wrong on not keeping it, so in the end i guess only God can decide if we were wrong or not.

it is a practice, to consider that either sat or sunday is set for worshipping GOD
unfortunately, some companies will make you work those days
but, that shouldn't stop you from selecting another day to dedicating a day of worship
so long it is a day, you use it for worship, reading scriptures, praying, invite others to have a bible study, pray together, send your tithes by mail or give to another to do it for you
GOD, is not unreasonable, he understands, just so long you set aside one day for worship and dedicated for GOD
it's the effort, that GOD sees, he honors that more
because, GOD can see how much he is loved, and nothing is going to stop us from worshipping him
