I was thinking of the African American girl who worked for me for a while and she was describing how the young folks would be singing and playing in her church and the old folks would be nodding approval or else shaking their heads in disapproval. If you have the indwelling Holy Spirit and you TRULY want to know what God approves of and disapproves of,then you will know. For me it is like rubbing a cat's fur the wrong way. So called christian rock is clearly an attempt to "have your cake and eat it to". We are going to enjoy "flesh exciting music" and put spiritual words to it so we don't feel guilty. I am not saying that everything that excites the flesh has to be evil, however exciting the flesh is going in the opposite direction of the spirit. Remember the bible...the flesh nature and the spirit nature of the christian are CONTRARY to one another. Therefore it is not possible to do something that builds up the flesh and think that it is building up your spirit at the same time.

I'm sorry. I'm sorry. But do you hear yourselves? You are trying to limit what kind of praise God can accept to the kind that you and those who agree with you accept giving. Read that sentence again. I've seen a room of 13,000 teens and their leaders lift their hands in praise to "Angels Sing" by Press Play. The band members themselves lifted their hands in the middle of the song and stood there, worshiping the creator of the universe. God's presence was in that place, pervading the very air, bringing me and others to their knees, tears falling and souls crying out to God in worship. How? How do you say that it was ungodly? How do you say that God was not there, simply because the praise was not the genre you accept? I'm sorry. But I know that God can and does use music, may it be Christain Rock, praise and worship music, Gospel music, or whatever the genre, to speak to my heart and lead me back to him. Listening to Altar and the Door by Casting Crowns, and East to West, they make me realize how much God loves me and I turned my face to him once again. No, I do not listen to secular music. Music was not meant to praise the things of this world. It was made to praise the almighty God who created it. And although you might not think so, it is possible for this kind of music to glorify God, and isn't that the point of our very existance?

CCM glorifies the singer, not the Lord. It is a form of entertainment whose primary goal is to sell records and make money. Why else would it cost $50 to see Amy Grant and Michael W. Smith next month? Music is NEVER used in the Bible as an evangelical tool. The problem with CCM is that it was not created to glorify God. It was created to appeal to man's lust for rock and roll music in church. We are to abstain from any appearances of evil. So why are we eager to adopt a form of music whose origins are drug abuse, sexual immorality, and rebellion? We have ignored what God wants and caved in to what man wants. I left my church of 10 years recently...computers, words on video screens, rock bands, and powerpoint presentations are not of God, they are of the world. All of us like sheep have gone astray.

I think when I heard a Christian rock song that had ripped off Pink Floyd's song "Run" almost note for note that I realized how lame your God really must be.

Let me guess, you dance like a pregnant, three legged cow with Bovine spongiform encephalopathy.
