My favorite is Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:7-11.
I mean the guy is unbelievable. He was not content with Isaiah telling him that God will heal his boil. He wanted proof of it. But he didn't want any kind of ordinary miracle, only the most difficult. And according to scripture instead of being punished for his non-belief and for his arrogance, God turned the sun (and all the planets, moons etc) 10 degrees backwards.
This is by the far the most stupid story in OT.

I can't say I have one particular favourite but I do like the way God tended to choose the poor, weak and humble to do His work.

David started as a shepherd boy and ended up a king.

Gideon went from being a fearful member of the lowest tribe to leading an army to victory.

Joseph was the despised brother who was falsly accuse and imprisoned but went on to become a powerful leader who saved a nation, and his family, from ruin and starvation.

I think charcters such as these show that it doesn't matter about our social standing or lack of worldly wealth God can still work great things through us.

Excellent post! There are only two places in the entire Bible where the phrase "walked with God" is mentioned. It refers to the man named Enoch and his relationship with God was so harmonious that God said, "I think you can just go with me right now"- and God took Enoch with him. Not much else is mentioned concerning the relationship between Enoch and his Creator; my curiosity tells me it would have been quite interesting and humbling to have heard their conversations. Job is another extraordinary individual due to his much suffering[mentally and physically] and never once blamed or cursed God. I'd say it's a toss-up between the two; can't quite narrow it down to one.

I like David. This is a man who went to God often, failed often, and succeeded often. He knew God's judgement-he knew God's mercy.

My favourite is Jacob because he wrestled and overcame God.

Indeed, but if I may, the original text indicates that the FSM was always accompanied by jardiniere, not meatballs. A common mistake made by well meaning followers; a scholarly interpretation is much more revealing.

Furthermore, the passages describing noodle sucking as an abomination were written in the context of the formal dining environment. In other words, the original text indicates that sucking for the purpose of being observed in the formal environment was an abomination, but personal, private FSM suckers are quite acceptable to FSM; and indeed, FSM, Himself is a noodle sucker.

Isn't it ironic that so many people who call themselves Christians are nothing like Christ?

Jacob. Fancy being called twister from birth! I think he gets a bad rap and is misrepresented by Christians. He's a very sensitive and human character, in my opinion. I really like him a lot. And from a personal point of view, you should see some of the methods of Christian leaders who like to say he went the wrong way about getting god's promised blessing. Bloody hypocrites!(Am I allowed to say that?)
