Ephesians 5:11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose [them.]

Matthew 7: 21 " Not everyone who says to Me,'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 "Many will say to Me in that day,'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 "And then I will declare to them,'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'

2 Peter 2:1 But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord who bought them,[and] bring on themselves swift destruction.

1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.

Micah 3:11 Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean on the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No harm can come upon us."

1 Timothy 2:9 in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, 10 but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works. 11 Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. 12 And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence.

Well, here's my two cents worth

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for REPROOF, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Reproof meaning of course, to expose.

1Ki 18:38 Then the fire of the LORD fell, and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
1Ki 18:39 And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces: and they said, The LORD, he is the God; the LORD, he is the God.
1Ki 18:40 And Elijah said unto them, Take the prophets of Baal; let not one of them escape. And they took them: and Elijah brought them down to the brook Kishon, and slew them there.

Bible Talk,
Thank you very much for the links, they are good.

Kevin,
I like your understanding of the term "reproof"...it is very appropriate and thought provoking...thanks for sharing that.

Also, I pray for christians to be raised up even as Elijah of old to EXPOSE the wolves in sheep's clothing. I sincerely pray for the hearts of the father's to be turned to the children and the children's hearts to be turned to the father's...when that happens, the FALSE god's/goddesses/apostles/proph ets/prophetesses/
preachers/and teachers are exposed. Satan/fallen angels/ and demons are also exposed.

God bless you brothers, kim

Living in the lap of luxury when so many (even in this country) are starving certainly goes against the social gospel of Jesus. But maybe concerned folks could offer prayer and COUNSEL to Joyce Meyers. What a rich testimony if she wer to see the light & sell all she has and give it to the poor. She's way to fundamentalistic in her theology for my tastes; but I think she does a lot of good and frequently conveys God's love in her preaching. Many "prosperity" preachers miss the boat on the meaning of ABUNDANCE promised in the bible.

Joyce Meyer does give a lot of her money away.. and help those less fortunate. I don't think it is wrong to get something of value or be financially successful if you give something of value to others. I like her teachings and don't feel she is being crooked. God would not allow her to reach as many people as she does and bless her ministry if she was doing that. I think some people are very jealous of her success and need to be careful before making judgements without merit. If there is merit to the claims and she is doing something wrong then she will have to face God so stop with these rumors and let's focus on fact...the only thing we know now as fact is that Joyce Meyer Ministry's is financially successful and yes Joyce is profiting but she does work for that money by giving of herself to help others. This is America so she is innocent until proving guilty.

First John7:24 Jesus said to Judge righteous judgement.
Warning, Danger Ahead!

Joyce Meyer teaches that Jesus did not pay for sin upon the cross, but actually went to the torments of hell and made atonement there. The following quote is from Joyce Meyer's 1991 booklet on being born again which is worded differently in the 1996-updated edition.

"During that time He entered hell, where you and I deserved to go (legally) because of our sin...He paid the price there.…no plan was too extreme...Jesus paid on the cross and in hell….God rose up from His throne and said to demon powers tormenting the sinless Son of God,“Let Him go.” Then the resurrection power of Almighty God went through hell and filled Jesus...He was resurrected from the dead ¾ the first born-again man" (The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make: A Complete And Thorough Understanding Of What It Means To Be Born Again, 1991, pages 35-36, Joyce Meyer) This quote was found from the Christian Research Institute's article on Joyce Meyer which can be found by "Clicking Here"

1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
1Co 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law.
1Co 14:35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

I've been thinking about this thread and have a couple of thoughts:
First I have to admit to having a couple of Joyces books on the bookshelf and I have found then helpful.
I have watched some of her preaching on TV and found some edifying and some a turn off.
As to the money she does or doesn't have well that is between her and God IMO.

With regard to the high profile preachers of today, it kind of reminds me of the chapter in Matthew where Jesus talks about the Scribes and Pharisees and tells His followers to "Do as they say but not as they do."

Good scriptures. The church needs to wake up and stop supporting her rich gods.

Matthew 19:16 Now behold, one came and said to Him, "Good Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?" 17 So He said to him, "Why do you call Me good? No one [is] good but One,[that is,] God. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments."

18 He said to Him, "Which ones?" Jesus said, " 'You shall not murder,''You shall not commit adultery,''You shall not steal,''You shall not bear false witness,' 19 'Honor your father and [your] mother,' and,'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' "

20 The young man said to Him, "All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?"

21 Jesus said to him, "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."

22 But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

23 Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven. 24 "And again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."

It would stand to reason that Joyce Meyer denies the 1 Timothy 2:12 verse.

We live one hour south of ST. Louis Missouri. Joyce Meyer Ministries is located in ST. Louis, and there is a repulsion and disgust for her extravagant lifestyle here.
Joyce Meyer has been in trouble for violating federal tax exempt status laws. For any non for profit business or ministry to be classified as tax exempt, they must meet certain standards. There is a cap on the salaries of employees or ministers. There is also a limit to the amount of possession's the ministry can own. Joyce Meyer ministries as also been investigated for income tax evasion. They have battled with Jefferson County over this for quite some time.
Joyce Meyer's attorneys advised her to sell some of their homes and reduce her salary in order to avoid prosecution. She shifted her money around in order to accomplish this.
Below is an excerpt from the ST. Louis Post Dispatch newspaper.
The ministry's board of trustees, which is headed by Joyce Meyer, agreed to pay
her a $900,000 annual salary in 2002 and 2003.
The board agreed to give her husband, Dave Meyer, the board's vice president,
an annual salary of $450,000 in each of those same two years.
The board agreed to provide the couple with free personal use of a corporate
jet and luxury cars, a $2 million home where all bills are paid by the ministry
and a separate $50,000-a-year housing allowance.
The ministry paid $1.475 million to buy three houses for the three Meyer
children.
The board authorized Joyce and Dave Meyer to control a $790,000 fund to be used
at their discretion for bonuses to "executive management."
The job duties of seven employees of the ministry include sorting gifts
"personally received" for Joyce and David Meyer, including cash and jewelry.
