I would love to help anyone who would like to ask SINCERE questions about the Bible and Christianity. Many of you on these threads have (like most non-believers, I believe) simply heard incorrect info. about the Bible and chosen to believe it without finding out what it really means. For example, these days, atheists often like to refer to God as hateful, when in reality He is loving beyond measure.
Feel free to ask anything; if I don't know the answer, then I will endeavor to discover it for you. And please, don't come on here looking for yet another Christian "victim" to pick on; I will not respond to hatefulness, foul language, and name-calling!

Hello, Armed,

I am Baptist and no, I haven't attended a Bible college, but I have been a Christian for 41 years, I've read and studied the Bible several times. What I cannot answer on my own, I can supplement with research and God's guidance!

Thanks!

I should have said in number 8 that I have read the Bible through several times and studied it extensively.

Since I dont know your age, or your experience with the Bible. Vice versa, I will ask this -

Why would you think you could explain to me or any one else who has some serious doubts, etc, about most parts of the Bible, when in my case (and I speak only for myself) I have been studying and such since I was in my early teens, and am now in my early 50's?

Why do YOU think/believe YOU know what "it really means" - versus all the other Believers before you, and those who are your contemporaries making the same claims..?

What can you provide me/others that proves YOU know what "it really means"...?

I have not "heard" wrong, nor do I rely on a one time hearing of what someone else might say is wrong with the Bible, etc...and leave it at that. I don't rely on most opinions of others be they a believer or not...I mostly rely on what I have gleaned from my own work and experiences of investigating this subject.

Plus, its my opinion that its truly Believers like YOU who are absolutely relying on what others say about the Bible, or about non-believers and do near zero to investigate those claims.

I find it disingenuous of Believers to claim to KNOW that non-believers have heard wrong, or fail to investigate - when for people like me, the route to disbelief was not short, not done with eyes or ears shut, and was certainly full of great effort (including extensive travel) aimed at digging as deep as a civilian (after I dropped my Xtian theology major) can to learn as much as I could and still do.

Where the complete opposite has been my experiences with most standard American Believers.(doing little work to dig any deeper than a prayer meeting where they "Named It and Claimed It!")

So tell me, what can you show me to prove that YOU and only YOU know what it really means, finally after a few thousand of years of it not being a settled matter...?

First, I don't believe I ever claimed to be the only one to know the answers, Punisher; thanks btw for your less than hateful response. People throughout the ages have been disseminating the truth of the Bible. It is only relatively recently that new atheists (in most cases, misotheists) have been casting hateful aspersions against God and Christianity. When you and I were very young, it was not so, generally speaking. Most of our ancestors believed in God and loved His Word. Now, mankind has become "enlightened" and thinks he has somehow come up with the answers to why God is NOT real and should be shunned. Why should I believe what people in the last few years have concluded over what most people have believed for hundreds, even thousands, of years.
Mind you, many of the earliest scientists were believers! Evolution has only become so prevalent since around the time of Darwin. Evolution has almost single-handedly created the doubt that we now see about God. Would I be correct in guessing that your own doubt came about due to your higher education? Maybe, maybe not, but that is very much the case now days. Have you ever thought,“What if Darwin and evolution are wrong”? Don’t fall to the pat answer that it’s science and science has proved it. Science cannot prove what has happened in the past; it can only surmise what MAY have happened based on current evidence, a process that requires guesswork. Guesswork can only come from presuppositions. I admit my presuppositions; would you?
I have studied the Bible using commentaries and such to aid my comprehension, sure, but my final analysis comes from my own reasoning faculties.
Thanks!

We may have some differences in our beliefs, but it appears we agree on the most important doctrines!

You obviously have no idea how the scientific method works. You automatically think scientists do all of their work and experimentations for the singular purpose of "disproving God". They do these things in order to understand our world better.

Friend, everyone from Darwin to Dawkins has/is trying to use science to disprove God! Science is supposed to be objective and follow the evidence wherever it leads, but evolutionists BEGIN with the idea that evolution must be true and read into the evidence whatever they can to make it fit. One noted scientist is even quoted as saying the following: "It is not that the methods and institutions of science somehow compel us to accept a material explanation of the phenomenal world, but, on the contrary, that we are forced by our a priori adherence to material causes to create an apparatus of investigation and a set of concepts that produce material explanations, no matter how counter-intuitive, no matter how mystifying to the uninitiated. Moreover, that materialism is absolute, for we cannot allow a Divine Foot in the door" Richard Lewontin. That says it all!

If I read his post correctly, He would like to enlighten those on both sides and if I read your posts correctly he was including people like you who have made gross mus-interpretations of the bible.

So what is your take on evolution being part of God's plan? There is overwhelming evidence for evolution. Why can't it be the structure for the Divine "design"?
Why can't cause and effect be part of the free will thing or for that matter just how things are connected and affected?
