I have no doubt you are demonically influenced if not worse.
It's rather hard to take anyone seriously who actually believes in demonic possession. Do you believe in both angels and demons? How about ghosts? Elves? Gnomes?

Wilde, contrary to this popular belief, scripture has not changed all that much. It is an argument to belittle God's word to meaningless. This allows people to depend on their own moral judgement. Everyone doing what seems right in their own eyes with no assistance or guide from the Creator Himself.
We can split hairs over how much it has been edited, but the fact that it has at all (more than you imply by the way) rather sinks your theory that it is magically protected by god. And this still does not address the very real problem of translation. This goes back to my questioning why this deity came one to one place and never wrote anything down, and left it's message to a long game of telephone. Why not come back periodically with updates? Give the message to succeeding generations in clear terms in their own languages? Not to difficult for an omnipotent deity one would think.

I am not aware of denying any of G-d's gifts. I appreciate my many blessings I have in this life.
Do you thank G-d for the gift of the evil impulse too? I mean that quite seriously.

Now Western that is a bit harsh. Pastor Weebles just has his own...unique interpretation of Christianity.
Do any two Christians have the same interpretation of their ideology?

Again, this deity has suspiciously lousy communication skills.

Why would this omnipotent deity select a favorite tribe of humans, give then a raft of laws to follow, and establish a ritual of animal sacrifices to appease it when they fell short, then completely change it's mind, come down in human form for a bloody sado-masochistic ritual to save humans from itself essentially, BUT, the sacrifice doesn't count to a given individual unless they blindly believe in this story.
<quoted text>
Why would this type-A deity designate certain sexual acts as OK, and some as not? Why would sodomy be sinful? Is sex to be only for procreation? Presumably oral sex is also sinful? Is sex that does not result in procreation sinful? Please explain.
<quoted text>
Who says Gentiles qualify? Why don't most Jews accept it? If most Jews did not/still don't accept this sacrifice, didn't this omniscient deity know that would happen in advance?
Since God is omnipotent, could He make a rock so big and heavy that even He couldn't lift it ?

Certainly the burden of proof is on those who claim that he is the Messiah. Is there universal peace? Can the lamb lie down with the wolf and not be afraid? How is Jesus even a descendant of David?

I was presuming that Jesus failed to meet some Jewish criterion for being their messiah, and if so how.

So the messiah needs to be a direct descendent of David?

Yes, the messiah would need to be from the line of kings (descendant of David.) Which is the big snowball at the beginning of Matthew: his line was traced through Joseph, and if the virgin birth were true, he would not be of the line of Joseph but only of Mary. So either there was no virgin birth (and he isn't the messiah) or he's not from the line of David (and he isn't the messiah.)

Since we don't have a codified dogma, different people think that there are different criteria. To those who hold to a personified human Messiah most would say that s/he would bring in an era of universal peace and plenty. Traditionally, descent from David is one criterion.

The more liberal movements may see the Messiah asa metaphor for human perfection, rather than a particular savior. The mystics believe in a cosmic redemption.

Because he died and because of history the vastmajority of Jews would reject the possibility of Jesus as the Messiah.

It's the way He chose to do it. I seems to require faith on our part this way. As for the "changes" in translations:

"That whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish" or "That whoever believes in Him will not die"

Is not so big a difference to place doubt in my heart about the very existence of God.

Hmmm, weird. For some reason this says post #33752, but in the title header it just shows 15 comments. Someone been busy around here cleaning up the place? You guys need to refresh your cached pages and cookies and see if it's just me or what.

"Why do you think that one of the fastest growing religious categories is “none”? Not that those people are not spiritual or religious – many of them are according to Pew’s latest research poll. Instead, they simply see evangelicals for what they are:

“…many people who left a religion to become unaffiliated say they did so in part because they think of religious people as hypocritical or judgmental, because religious organizations focus too much on rules or because religious leaders are too focused on power and money.”

That pretty much sums it up. Not to mention the long history of religious intolerance, hate and bigotry of anything they can't grasp in their limited minds. Pretty much the majority of overly religious people have a detectable brain defect in a certain part of their brains that makes them susceptible to such mumbo jumbo smoke and mirrors scare tactics to make them conform to religious dogma. So that would also tend to put them in a lower IQ bracket, as well. Too bad for them. They are the ones who need mental help, not the gays or anyone else they feel like persecuting.

I also encourage anyone posting here to save all your messages so the forum nannies can't completely destroy all your responses on a whim. Nothing has actually been deleted, they just moved it into a hidden forum folder for reasons unknown.
