How can Christianity be correct with 2 billion or more adherents?

Matthew 7:14
But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.

The theme may be Christianity, yet so many who profess to be Christians have their own idea what it means to be a Christian, hence the many different Christian sects with their own take on the meaning of the message. It is certainly not a case of Christians all singing from the same hymn sheet!

Wrong.

How are you coping with transubstantiation?

<quoted text>
He's against it.
.

Who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

For my flesh is meat indeed and my blood is drink indeed.

He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood, dwells in me and I in him.

Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is a hard saying; who can hear it?

From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.

Nice use of scripture, but you make it sound like "none" of the disciples walked no more
with Jesus. it's kind of deceiving without having or knowing the whole text.
John 6:67 says, Jesus said to the 12 "Will ye also go away?"
next it says, Simon Peter replied, to whom shall we go, thou hast the words of
eternal life. This occurred long before the "Last Supper" where all 12 were with Jesus :)
You keep on quoting the scripture, it is good :)

Jesus knew from the start who would believe and who would betray him.
When you add up those disciples who left Jesus and went back
to the lives they had before, and only 12 remain and one is a devil.
That number is "few".

Good morning, buck.

I make it sound like none? That is straight out of the Bible. We know of the Twelve but we don't know the number of disciples. Christ is frequently reported to have crowds following Him around to hear His words so it could be dozens, hundreds, maybe thousands.

Sometimes I quote from memory:

Take this and drink of it for this is the cup of my blood which will be spilled out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins. Do this in memory of me.

Nick is a fundamentalist so it's safe to assume he's 'against' transubstantiation or maybe categorically denies it. Catholics take this dead seriously. We don't blame the Jews or the Romans for crucifying our Lord but we blame ourselves because we are all sinners. We do not see the Mass as a re-enactment of the Last Supper but as a continuation.

You might check that quote. It never hurts to read the Bible, does it?

Among POD's myriad bad habits is his propensity to grossly exaggerate numbers. I don't think I know any members of the NAS but I have spent much of my life associated with university professors and medical doctors and on the very rare occasions the subject of religion comes up they turn out to be believers; Southern Baptists, maybe, but believers nonetheless.

I think Nobel Laureates in the Sciences is another benchmark for the compatibility of science and religion. Jews top the list, followed by Catholics, and as for the rest we mostly don't know, probably lots of Protestants of various denominations. I don't mean to offend you, Nick, but the number of sola scriptura evangelical fundamentalists is probably less than one.

It never hurts to read the Bible :) ALL of it : D
I've never known anyone to get hurt reading the Bible LOL
btw none of us present today were alive when the events of the
Bible occurred. I take them as literal and true , just like other
history books. But, the Bible is God's word and God is true, so
I have no doubt that whatever is written in the Bible is true.
and if some think I am a nut for believing it all, they have that
choice to think that.
btw I don't think it hurts for one to be a little nutty in this
world today lol.
