I'd love to see a discussion about abortion minus religion. It's a great topic for debate with lots of of complexity, but too many on both sides want to keep it black and white.
It isn't that simple IMO, but many people fail to grasp the full picture.
I'll step up to the plate and say I disagree with the viewpoints of most secularists/atheists/agnostics I know. I welcome the viewpoints of anyone who disagrees with me if you can present your viewpoint coherently.
It probably does seem unfair to many men that if a pregnancy occurs resulting in a child they didn't want that they have to foot the bill. But do those same men not understand that when they have unprotected sex with a female that a pregnancy is a very real possibility? To me it is rather simple, if you don't want your sexual partner to fall pregnant, and as a result have to provide child support, then take precautions. I have already stated my personal view regarding abortion, I don't like it, but no matter what I think it will always be the woman who decides whether to abort or not. Another difficulty for some men is when their partner decides on an abortion, but the man wants her to have the child. This again comes back to the fact that it is the woman who makes the decision, whether the man likes it or not. I can't see any law being introduced that would force a woman to have an abortion, any more than I could see a law being introduced that would force a woman to go full term. Abortion is a very emotive and complex subject, but I know that women will always to continue to have abortions. My wish is that sexual partners be more responsible and take precautions to prevent an unwanted pregnancy and therefore not find themselves in the position where they feel abortion is the only option!

Not all Catholic priests raped children. "Some" Catholic Priests raped children would be a true statement - and of those few Catholic priests who abused children (when compared to the whole)... 3 out of 4 them were homosexual.

I agree that you never said that my God has never caused this to happen. I added that part in intentionally.

So what? It is the Catholic Church and many Catholics who attempt to claim the moral high ground based on belief in their imaginary friend.
Some Catholic Priests went astray and abused their leadership. I'm not excusing the horrible things that they did. I'm trying to balance the scales of your accusations. Pagans and Atheists claim to have the moral high ground also... and yet Atheists deems "themselves" to be more intelligent. And some of these pagans and atheists get caught up in pedophilia also. This is not a one-sided issue. People tend to zero in "only" on the Catholic Church and it's troubles because of some kind of angst... while seemingly giving other parts of society a pass. So those who blame the Catholic Church, they are right to call out the evils of pedophilia but some people's motives are questionable at best.

"Realistically", pedophilia is not limited to the Catholic Church.

Homosexuality and pedophilia are not at the same things.
BEING homosexual does not mean, in any way, that person is prone to raping children.

And, you are right, this crime is even more prevalent within the Protestant faith than it is the Catholic faith.

Also what about the issue of all the people in the Catholic Church who have covered up these horrendous crimes?
Those who covered it up made a bad decision to let it continue and not reporting it. Just as wrong as those at the Pennsylvania University and elsewhere who covered up the sex crimes of Assistant Coach Sandusky.
Roland_Deschain wrote:

Perhaps some were and some weren't.
Roland_Deschain wrote:
<quoted text>Was the last pope homosexual?
It doesn't seem so... but he sure did quit pretty fast.

<quoted text>Given the level of bollocks you are talking, your refusal to accept the Catholic Church's complete lack of morality and your obvious lack of respect for women to have rights over their own bodies I assume you are Catholic?
I had left Catholicism almost 30 years ago. I don't fully agree with their beliefs but that is another subject. Again, I don't agree with any type of pedophilia, anywhere... I don't care if it was committed by a catholic priest, by an atheist, a school teacher or by some luciferian witch... Pedophilia is evil wherever it is committed.

I don't know what the exact number is but I'm sure the crime is more prevalent outside of Catholic circles... by "outside of Catholic circles" I mean everywhere else in society, whether it be secular, protestant, atheist or other pagan circles.

The fact that you simpletons feel the need that you should be punished for the wrong doings of others is simply insane.

If you feel the need to punish children for things their parents did you are insane.

And that is

Only the woman decides WHEN she has a child, by WHOM and how many times. GOD was for abortion.

Hosea 9:11-16 Hosea prays for God’s intervention.“Ephraim shall bring forth his children to the murderer. Give them, 0 Lord: what wilt thou give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts...Ephraim is smitten, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit: yea though they bring forth, yet will I slay even the beloved fruit of their womb.” Clearly Hosea desires that the people of Ephraim can no longer have children. God of course obeys by making all their unborn children miscarry. Is not terminating a pregnancy unnaturally “abortion”?

Numbers 5:11-21 The description of a bizarre, brutal and abusive ritual to be performed on a wife SUSPECTED of adultery. This is considered to be an induced abortion to rid a woman of another man’s child.

Numbers 31:17 (Moses)“Now therefore kill every male among the little ones, and kill every women that hath known man by lying with him.” In other words: women that might be pregnant, which clearly is abortion for the fetus.

Hosea 13:16 God promises to dash to pieces the infants of Samaria and the “their women with child shall be ripped up”. Once again this god kills the unborn, including their pregnant mothers.

2 Kings 15:16 God allows the pregnant women of Tappuah (aka Tiphsah) to be “ripped open”. And the Christians have the audacity to say god is pro-life. How and the hell is it that Christians can read passages where God allows pregnant women to be murdered, yet still claim abortion is wrong?

Find a new way to deny women their rights....this "God thing": isn't working out well for you guys.
