Will Gay Marriage Pit Church Against Church?

Apr 27, 2009 | Posted by: SongBookz | Full story: news.yahoo.com

The trouble they see is not just an America where general support for gay marriage will have driven a wedge between churches and the world, but between churches themselves.

<quoted text>Dumpling, I'm merely telling you what the Bible says, and what it has to say about alleged Christians like you, not good. If you want to reject God's Word, that is entirely up to you, I'm just trying to disabuse you of the silly notion that it is going to work out like you pray.
But you don't know what the Bible says.

Do you think people of the Jewish faith read Matthew? Does the Book of Mormon apply to you?
<quoted text>
Of course not, but a knowledgeable person would know that Jesus quoted the Tanakh.

Genesis 2:23-24 (MSG)
23 The Man said, "Finally! Bone of my bone, flesh of my flesh! Name her Woman for she was made from Man."
24 Therefore a man leaves his father and mother and embraces his wife. They become one flesh.

Joseph Smith copied Mohammad's perversion of the Bible without the violence.

The Highest Court has ruled, and will.

You know that deep down, don't you.

"non-answer"?

I did and have many times.

To deny what is obvious even by the very terminology (ss 'marriage') simply exposes the preposterous denial.

see that is the problem with your mental illness - you live with a different reality from the rest of the World. Again, we don't share your mental illness, therefore we don't understand "your reality" because it isn't real.
You might want to look up the definition of reality.

Oh, I forgot, you want to change the meaning of that word too...

List ten of these "countless differences".
I did.

Here's an idea, you list the differences you see.

Tanakh, yes, but hardly ever the Torah, which he considered to be unreliable in it's execution, and corrupted in places. He was far more about the Patriarchal period and the Prophets. He was very strongly against juridical-ism and any complicated, non-commonsense approaches to things.

Most of this was in contradiction of the Pharisaic concept of "Two Torahs", but his positive teachings were from the prophets.

VERY big on the prophets.

That doesn't make it true, nor does that make it relevant. Since when does sheer volume of bullshit turn it into fact?

Of which Bible? And, why? Do you also take the apocrypha as literally true, too? Do you know why they are not in your Bible? Do you even care?

BS.

Everything you said is not in the text. At no point did he reject any part. He clearly affirmed the integrity of the Tanakh and corrected their interpretations.

You put an awful lot of faith in this guy's teachings, but I thought the idea of Christianity was to put your faith only in Jesus.

My point was two-fold, but you need things explained to you:

1. Different faiths have different beliefs, and
2. Our nation does not use YOUR particular faith to determine the rights of others. You are absolutely free to maintain your belief that marriage must be between a man and a woman. Your belief, however, doesn't change the fact that I'M STILL MARRIED. Further, when we choose to have our marriage sanctified by a UCC Pastor, and a Rabbi, we'll be married in the eyes of God.

Just not your God; the God of hate and intolerance.

Partly true. His letters are included in the New Testament. He was actually writing letters in response to other letters which he received. Unfortunately, none of those letters exist any more. He never thought his letters would be part of Scripture. Personally, I am glad they exist because they shed a great deal of light upon many aspects of the early church. It is unfortunate that so many people have deified Paul and turned the Bible into a false idol.
