Former Episcopal priest grateful to Pope ...

Dec 8, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: DFW Catholic

Former Episcopal priest Laurence Gipson, who became Catholic in October, says his reaction to the Catholic ordinariate for former Anglicans is one of "gratitude." "The ordinariate, I think, is a wonderful opportunity for people like me, Anglican clergy and Anglican laity, who are seeking Catholic faith" ...

from DFW Catholic:

"Gipson, a 70-year-old native of Memphis, Tenn., said he is grateful to Pope Benedict for establishing the ordinariate ...

"'It offers Anglicans a way to affirm the Catholic faith, that is, a way to affirm orthodox or right belief, while at the same time being able to worship God and practice the Christian life according to the Anglican tradition and patrimony ...

"'The Catholic faith and Anglican use are a great combination,' Gipson continued.'Catholics have welcomed us warmly. They’ve extended the right hand of fellowship to us ...'"

... and what did former Catholic Kate Schori extend them?

Don't forget the buddhists, Jews, shinto , Hindu, Mormon and a few other thousand religions that don't think like you. Wow all those people going to invisible hell to suffer forever. Boy god really is forgiving and loving. I can't wait to see who's right myself. Imagine someone not believing in him. I know no one has seen him or heard from him. But yes he must be floating around up there keeping a list of all the things we have done wrong. It's not like we need to take responsibility for our own lives. We need to blame Satan for the bad and praise god for the good things. So never ever accept personal responsibility for your own actions. Just let the non existent invisible people handle it all. That's always worked out good for everyone.

My dear oral - It's obvious you've got a Ph.D. in Theology. Damn, you're smart. Except for one thing: ONLY Catholics get into heaven! They told me that when I was about 9 and I believe it. Priests don't lie. If they try to, the Holy Spirit clamps His spirit hand over their mouths and won't allow any words to come out. Too bad that same spirit hand didn't jam their zippers when they were amongst all those little boys, huh?

Yes. All "religious" people will be banned from Heaven. Only those saved by God's merits and grace will be granted access to His glory.

I hope if I am wrong and you are right that everyone with a decent heart and mind get there no matter who they pray to. I just don't see it my friend. My point is with all the different beliefs that exit out there. We need to respect all views and not condemn someone because of what church or no church they go to.

"The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked..." so says the written word of God. The only way to achieve peace with God is through the sacrifice of His Son.

A good attitude to have is: Don't judge me just because I sin differently from you.

Fine, as long as you don't get the "cart before the horse." Faith first, then works follow as a natural result of that saving grace. "For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead n vain" St. Paul- Galatians.

St. Paul seems to be referring to Rabbinical laws regarding tithing, diet and Sabbath if memory serves.

James 2:18-19 Indeed someone might say,“You have faith and I have works.” Demonstrate your faith to me without works, and I will demonstrate my faith to you from my works.
You believe that God is one. You do well. Even the demons believe that and tremble.

How do you know what to have faith in without religion?

The Pharisees of Jesus' time had both religion and faith. And He declared they were lost and bound for Hell. They served the living God both through faith and works with all their being. They missed the boat of: "For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that not of yourselves. It is the GIFT of God, NOT of WORKS, lest any man should boast. Eph 2:8-9. Your salvation does not happen by your reaching out to God. It occurs when He reaches out and pulls you from your life of sin and constant disobedience.
