Raymond Firth, 39, a former teacher at Pacific Rim Elementary School in Carlsbad, California has reportedly pleaded guilty on two felony counts of sexual battery and one count of false imprisonment relating to the molestation of three of his female third-grade students between 2006 and 2008.

Under the terms of the plea agreement, Firth will be sentenced to prison for a period of three years and eight months.

Formal sentencing is set for April 26th.

In addition to his prison sentence, Firth will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

The above link to teacher crimes indicates a teacher arrested for sexual abuse of a young boy in her class, is put on paid administrative leave. It seems that the school systems dont take this sex abuse thing real seriously.

Also looking at the number of teachers arrested this past year for sexual abuse, I cant believe how many celibate teachers there are.

Richard A. Neff, 47, girls’ basketball coach at Dundee Middle School in Dundee, Michigan has reportedly been arrested on allegations a sexual relationship with a female student who is now 14-years-old and who was 13 when the alleged relationship began.

Reportedly, Neff has been charged with two first-degree counts of criminal sexual conduct and one count each of second-degree criminal sexual conduct and accosting a child for immoral purposes.

On Tuesday, Neff made an initial appearance before First District Judge Mark S. Braunlich who set bond at $50,000 and ordered Neff to have no contact with the alleged victim and her family and to stay away from the school.

The prosecution, which had sought a $100,000 bond, is alleging that Neff and the girl had a relationship since January, 2009 and that the alleged relationship continued until Friday when they reportedly were caught in a suspicious situation at the school.

Reportedly, a school custodian allegedly caught Neff and the girl in the school last Friday night. The custodian reported the incident to district officials who then alerted police.

Neff is reportedly free on bond and has a preliminary examination set for May 11th.

If convicted of the first degree criminal sexual conduct count, Neff could face a maximum penalty of life in prison.

Reportedly, Neff was a contract employee with Dundee Community Schools and has been fired.

Kerry Hoffman, 27, the former band director of Oakfield-Alabama High School in Oakfield, New York has reportedly been found guilty of sexually abusing a female student.

Hoffman is reportedly charged with five misdemeanor counts of sexual abuse, one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of official misconduct.

It is alleged that between February and March that Hoffman “acted in a manner likely to be harmful to a child less than seventeen years old”.

The alleged sexual abuse is said to have occurred at the school.

No further specifics on the allegations have been released.

Following his arraignment, Hoffman was released under supervision and without bond.

Hoffman, who reportedly taught at the school for about one year, resigned when the allegations surfaced.

How come you never hear about these cases on the news? And what gives with the commentary in the online articles. There are folks there that think its real cool that a child is abused by their teacher. So in twenty or thirty years are we going to try to solve the teacher abuse crisis.

An English teacher at Atkins High School was sentenced to a little more than two years in prison after pleading guilty to charges that she had sex with a 16-year-old student in her classroom.

Amy Elizabeth Yarbrough, 32, pleaded guilty in Forsyth Superior Court to seven felony counts of sexual activity with a student and three felony counts of taking indecent liberties with a student.

Yarbrough was arrested in December after school resource officer and assistant principal caught Yarbrough partially nude in the classroom with the student.

Yarbrough had been suspended with pay, and Superintendent Don Martin had recommended that she be fired.

Judge Patrice Hinnant sentenced Yarbrough to a total of 24 to 30 months in prison. She ordered that Yarbrough register as a sex offender for 30 years and that she not be allowed to teach in North Carolina.

A high school band director was arrested Thursday on charges that he molested a student.

Raphael J. McLean, 26, of Tampa, a band director at Lakewood High School, was arrested for one count of lewd and lascivious molestation.

Officials say McLean has been employed as the band director at Lakewood High School since January 2008.

According to the arrest affidavit, McLean wrestled a 15-year-old girl to the floor and grabbed and fondled her breasts and nipples over her clothes without her consent.

Officials say the girl was one of McLean's students.

The affidavit also says the incident happened in the school's band room.

Detective Joe Bross of the St. Petersburg Police Department arrested McLean about 2:20 p.m. Thursday.

McLean was taken to the Pinellas County Jail where his bond is set at $20,000.

Detective Bross said this case is still under investigation, and there is a possibility of additional charges against McLean.

Craig Snodgrass, a former wrestling coach and a teacher’s assistant at Camanche Middle School in Camanche, Iowa has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old female student two years ago.

Reportedly, Snodgrass is charged with two felony counts of third-degree sexual abuse.

The alleged victim filed a complaint against Snodgrass in November, however police say that they had been investigating the case for six months prior to the alleged victim coming forward.

Reportedly, the alleged victim has told investigators the relationship started with the two exchanging text messages and e-mails and conversing on instant messaging, then progressed to physical contact and her sending partially nude photographs of herself to Snodgrass at his request.

It is further alleged that the girl told police that she and Snodgrass began to meet two to three times a week on school property where they would kiss and Snodgrass would fondle her.

It is also alleged that the girl told police that in May 2008, Snodgrass pressured her into performing oral sex on him in his truck and that in the following week they had sexual intercourse in the back seat of the truck.

Court documents allege that Snodgrass admitted to having a sexual relationship with the girl while he was employed at the school from which he resigned in 2008.

Kellie Ryan, 26, a physical education and health teacher from Trinity Catholic High School in St. Louis, Missouri has reportedly been arrested on allegations of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old male student.

Reportedly, Ryan is charged with two counts of statutory sodomy and one count of statutory rape.

It is alleged that Ryan and the boy were in a sexual relationship between November 1, 2009 and April 16.

None of the alleged crimes are said to have occurred on school property or during school hours.

Reportedly, Ryan has been on administrative leave from the school since April.

See, it's not just catholic priests - it's other catholics too!

I am at loss as to what these are supposed to be examples of. The poster seems to simply be detailing the current sexual abuse crisis in the public schools.

It would be interesting to know what sentances the women receive. Usually its a few months in jail and probation, since boys really don't mind being sexually abused. They actually like it!

If the sexual abuse of minors is really a concern of ours, as a society, then we have to be concerned in all situations. It is not okay to say that children abused by teachers are somehow less worthy of our attention. Abuse is abuse.

A former Carolina High teacher has resigned in the wake of charges that nearly six years ago she sexually touched a student who had moved into her home, authorities said.

A 21-year-old woman has told Greenville County sheriff’s deputies that she was 15 when Melissa Kellie McBee, now 47, touched her, according to a warrant.

McBee was a health occupations teacher and cross country coach when school officials learned of the allegations and placed her on leave on Feb. 17, said Oby Lyles, a spokesman for Greenville County Schools.

She resigned March 25, he said.

McBee, of Simpsonville, is charged in warrants with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

A warrant alleges that the woman was 16 when McBee provided her with beer and a vodka-and-tonic. She was jailed on the charges this week, Master Deputy Sam Cureton said.

McBee had been with the school district since 1991, serving as a physical education teacher and coaching girls’ basketball, volleyball and softball, Lyles said.

A former south Florida teacher has been found guilty of traveling to Thailand to have sex with young boys.

A federal jury in Chicago convicted 48-year-old Charles Stokes on Friday at the end of a four day trial.

Stokes, who once lived in the Miami area, taught in public schools from the mid-1980s to the late 1990s. In 2002 he left Chicago for Thailand in 2002 and lived there until his arrest in 2006.

Federal prosecutors say he engaged in sexual conduct with about 70 boys under the age of 15 while he lived overseas. Two of the boys, who were 11 at the time of the abuse, testified at his trial. Prosecutors say they also found thousands of photos of Stokes engaging in sexual conduct with young boys.

He faces up to 30 years in prison when he's sentenced on August 26th.

Reviewing the statistics compiled by the University of Pennsylvania, in reference to the sexual abuse of children. If you had a room with ten people in it, four of those ten would be the number of teachers who had sexually abused a minor. Two of those ten would be non-catholic christian clergy. Less than one of those ten would be roman catholic priests. Of course these are statistics with an error margin of .05%.
